This is a great new range although I only buy it when on markdown at Asda . Their Butter Chicken dish is literal restaurant quality . Only let down is the flimsy plastic film lid , it can’t take any knocks or damage whatsoever , I’ve seen loads of them leaking sauce even in the reduced chiller as presumably they got damaged in transit and no-one would buy them full price
Wow this whole range is very tasty, great bit of tasty heat...excellent. I didn't read the box and froze them not realising they are supposed to be "not suitable" for freezing, but I defrosted them and they cooked and tasted great...so don't worry about buying a stack of them for your freezer, thanks for the heads up lad, a treat
I'm so gutted Asda discontinued their old curry range, the vindaloo and bhuna were amazing and miles better tasting than any of the takeaways near me. I've yet to try this new range but the price and the coconut puts me off!

Omg yes the potatoes are bloody gorgeous, it's all on offer atm 2 mains and 2 sides for £10 ....With a narn bread covered in butter and slung in the corsori mini oven for 3 mins 😋.
I think Asda have seen your review and put the price up ( £5.00 at my local) because they knew they where going to get extra custom from your video. I agree though definitely a one portion meal but looks really nice definitely a treat though at that price.
Thank you Gaz for this review 👍 This is one for the son's menu 🤤😋👍 I was lol when you said "malarkey"😂 I've not heard that expression for yonks 😂 Have a lovely day Gaz ♥️
Completely agree been eating them for a while, only bad bit too many leaves, mind I don't think it's Madras hot myself, old discontinued Beef Madras was hotter and cheaper, you can still get tins but doesn't taste as good.
My favourite Bom Bahia (so far) is the Chicken Biryani - it’s very, very good. Previous favourite was Waitrose’s Hot Chicken Tikka Masala which was unmatched among supermarket curries - creamy rich and spicy with a HUGE flavour. Unfortunately (like M&S) Waitrose curries shrunk by a third while rising in price in 2023. Worst of all, the recipe has changed into something thin and bland with tough chicken pieces. Unrecognisable. Thank goodness for this Asda range!
The serves two probably helps to keep the traffic lights stay green? Me I do have long hair, it's not the washing that takes time, it's drying after, I guess you're good lady wife, should be able to confirm that! Btw, lol, based upon the initial comment, you made, regarding the spare 30- mins, and what to do with it. 😊
That looks really nice. I thought at first that it was really only one portion, so a bit dear, but I would not eat a curry without rice, bhajis, etc, and if I added all that, I would get two portions and it would not be dear at all. Another one for the shopping list the next time I am in Asda, thanks for that. 😊
I’ve tried a few supermarket readymade curries recently and was playing ‘hunt the meat’ - they were pretty disappointing. Looks like a trek to ASDA is on the cards….
Strange that a Bombay curry would have beef in being that cows are sacred in India. Majority of meals in India are vegetarian. I’m guessing that as the owners of Asda are Muslim, that’s halal beef which has had its throat cut with no stunning.
I had one of these for the first time apparently on Saturday night. I'd had a couple more beers than usual. My wife tells me I have Burnt out the Microwave and fused the lights as it comes in a metal tray. I ate it , but cant remember what it was like.
I found this one really disappointing actually - the coconut completely took me out of it. Don’t get me wrong, the brisket was fantastic but it’s not the best curry for me. I genuinely believe the Iceland frozen ones are far nicer taste wise 🙌🏽
Looks lovely Gareth. I used to get the M&S tinned beef curry, but not as nice as it used to be. £5 is decent if there's loads of beef. Says serves two! I'd have that to myself :)
Yes gaz...hope you're all good...if you get the chance, give aldis,GASTRO.chicken jalfrezi, /chicken tikka masalla, a go....these are proper tasty 😋....
Microwave cooking doesn't materially degrade nutrients, probably it is less damaging to these than oven cooking. This is because the microwaves merely cause the water molecules to vibrate and thus heat up. Also the heating time is so much shorter and so degrade the nutrients less than longer cooking times would do.
Can I suggest to everyone instead of buying naan breads to go with these curries you try the Village Bakery…Flame Baked Folded Flatbreads, they’re light & fluffy like a naan but you can use them like a pita bread for kebabs or as wraps etc , 4 pack available from most supermarkets certainly Aldi. 👍
the charlie bigham curries are tasty but too expensive at £9.50 a pop, I sometimes buy when they are discounted- can u review some pls, I think the jalfezi is the pick of the bunch be interested in your opinion
I had this beef curry on Tuesday after watching your reaction to it and it’s probably the best supermarket curry dish I’ve ever had. The beef and that sauce were so tasty. I’ll be buying another next week, thanks for the review😋👍😁
M&S Chicken Madras has always tasted better than most Indian restaurant curries for me. They seem to have changed their Naans though, which used to be restaurant standard.
I had one of those last year. Very tasty indeed and even better because it was on the 'reduced' shelf. I doubt very much if I spent more than £1.49 for it!! No luck in Asda in Woking this evening, though, except for more Christmas stuff discounted - loads of vegan chocolates, marzipan stollen loaves for 50p and large Christmas puddings for £1 🤷
Hello Gareth that looks scrummy I'll buy this thanks I tried the kebab thingy u tried from the same BOM bhia a few months ago but didn't like it but do love a Ruby Murray so will try this tomorrow 😋🥰 takeaways are so expensive
Thanks for another great review Gaz. I will be heading off to Asda to look at this range as it feels ages since I had a good curry😊. Glad you had time to wash your hair while it was cooking...
Good to see at long last a mainstream supermarket has a curry similar to what you would get in an Indian restaurant. Tried loads from other supermarkets but never quite what you might expect.
Hello Gaz.Hope you're well and Family Mate.Looks great that range.I like the way it's all in portions and the added Curry leaves makes it look Authentic.I know you have to buy the rice separately but that just makes it all better. Each Dish is Unique to itself kinda thing.Great Review
I'm going to have to get one of these. Problem is I live in a small Scottish town and the Asda supermarket only stocks about 6 different curries, all very generic and total rubbish to be honest, no such thing as a Vindaloo or a Madras in there, so I'm going to have to try and "import" some of these from England. Cheers for the review.!
Try Kohinoor curry pouches too! They're delicious. I prefer making my curry's from scratch, but if you're feeling lazy Kohinoor's curry's are the next best thing. I've spotted them in Aldi recently in the Special Buys, otherwise you can find them in most Asian supermarkets.
Yeah I get them from Tesco. Really good. Had the Bhuna one the other day. Cooked it with chopped chicken breast. Was lovely. Will have to look in Aldi when I go tomorrow.
Trouble being you have to buy the meat ,I get the Taylor made fiery goan £ 1.50 on offer take 10 minutes but I like a review on tescos equivalent there independently made but also look that bit special
A lot of Asda's meals say 'serves 2' when at 400g that's a bit on the stingy side, so I don't buy them for my partner and myself. I often buy a meal for two from their Bistro range, they are really nice and only a couple of pound more than their bog standard range
The different meals from this range at Asda have definitely been the best Indian meals you can get from a supermarket. I dunno why its taken so long for a company to get it right. And like you say, even if you were served this in an Indian restaurant, you would still be happy.
Great review Mate, will check them out. A heads up to the UK subscribers, Lidl are up to their old tricks again. Putting price labels on their shelves saying "reduced to X£££s" from a new inflated price, making it seem you are getting money off when in fact it is a disguised price increase. Disrespectful of the customers. Basically it says reduced to £2 from £2.50 when yesterday it was £2 then creeps up to £2.50 after the "special offer" ends.
Ps that "oh yes" you credited to the chuchil insurance add, but they got that from a older comedian, Derek Guller, he played a policeman corky, with Eric sykes & Hati jacobs, tv comedy, or the school caretaker in "please sir" , where he kept saying "I was with Monty" claiming himself a WW2 desert rat, wearing his medal ribbon on his caretaker uniform, another comedy on telly, black & white era i think, a Yorkshire man possibly, or could have been a from Lancashire, i hardly know the difference being as im from Wiltshire. I'll get some stick for that, deserved, apologies in advance.
Does microwaving vegetables make them less nutritious? The cooking process can cause some destruction of beneficial compounds in fruits and vegetables (phytochemicals, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals), BUT it can also make some beneficial compounds (such as lycopene) more available to the body. In fact, microwaving is actually a good way to minimize the loss of nutrients!
To be fair it looks amazing though I'd be off put by the price before seeing this, nutritional values aren't too disgusting for a ready meal either, looks like it'd be banging with a nice naan few poppadoms ans some chutney - still only serves 1 though 😜
The internet says.. There's nothing about microwaves that damages food more than other cooking methods. In fact, microwaving can actually preserve nutrients. I would always microwave something like that, the oven seems to dry them out.
*Oh brilliant brilliant review and amazing find on this recommended Beef Madras Curry from Asda 👌🙌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻* Special thanks to the person or persons that suggested this. Awesome
OMG Gareth we could be brothers, everything you like seems to be what I like. That’s not infatuation mate just seems to be the way it comes across to me, and my favourite also happens to be Keema naan 👍🏻 top man another great review keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Ok it should be good for £4.50 for one potion don’t forget you need to add the cost of at least a potion of rice to make a meal , and don’t forget in the 30 minutes you’ve been waiting for it to warm up you could have knocked up a authentic BIR curry from scratch for a fraction of the price and I guarantee it will be 10 times better than the Asda one , have a go and let me know bud 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Yes naughty Asda, show the meal with a 4.50 price tag ,then you scoll down its gone up to a fiver, write to them Gareth, and say anyone mentioning your name at checkout gets the 50p reduction 😁
How do you know it’s average? Have you tried it? Asda are owned by two British Indian brothers and I think people with Indian heritage probably know a thing or two about curries as do the majority of Brits.
I managed to get one Gaz from my local Asda in shaw oldham only 2 left this was a fiver!! gonna give it a bash next week will give you my vote!! cheers gaz🤔🤞
Im not always rushing out to try some of the foods you try Gaz, but that looked absolutely bang on - 2 things Gaz, was the heat good, and would Gaz buy it again?! (I always wait for that bit). Love it when you get a good un, only foodies get it when we go mmmmmmmmmm thats amazing! 😋❤️😎
My misus watched this and referred it to me. Didn't know it was a madras ruby. Way too hot for me although i could get the flavour which was nice but was overpowered by the heat. Too bad.
Because microwaves penetrate food, they heat it much more efficiently and quickly, so there is less time for vitamins to break down and you don't get a crust on the outside that has been heated much more than the middle. Microwaved food has about the same nutrient levels as steamed food. Great vid has always, nice to see you have washed your curly perm 🤣🤣🤣🤣
i had these a few months back delicious, I live in London go Brick Lane weekly for my Beigels but to be honest i wouldnt touch a curry there rats everywhere
There saying that these dishes are £5 on there website maybe your Asda is a bit cheaper although it's expensive I suppose it's no dearer than having a takeaway and if it's quality as you say then you don't mind paying top dollar. Asda is now owned by two Indian brothers so if they can't get it right then we are all doomed
Be great to hear what a person from the Indian culture thinks. Or is it just a British idea of what a curry is. Here in NZ curries have a lot of sugar in because they think it’s Western taste. Coming from the UK it was a huge shock. 🤢. I always ask, please no sugar. You have to order the day before at my local restaurant
You've tempted me to try it 😊 I'm going to order one on my next shopping delivery from Asda and have it as my treat for this month. Thanks for your food reviews. They're no nonsense, say it as you see it truth rather than a paid promotion.
@@BaldFoodieGuy Thanks for showing us this, I loved it! I had it with the Royal Pilau from the same range and a mini peshwari naan. It did me for 2 nights tea 😃 I'll be buying it again. One thing, it wasn't £4.50 as you said, it was £5.00.

You're welcome 😊
Great review Gaz and it looked amazing and something worth buying and keep up with the great reviews 👏👏👍👍
Thanks 👍 cheers Peter
Not a curry eater but if it puts hair on your head or chest go for it.
Thanks for the tip!
Kohinoor is excellent, but I will try this from asda
Yeah I get them from Tesco. Really good. Had the Bhuna one the other day. Cooked it with chopped chicken breast. Was lovely. Will have to look in Aldi when I go tomorrow.
Trouble being you have to buy the meat ,I get the Taylor made fiery goan £ 1.50 on offer take 10 minutes but I like a review on tescos equivalent there independently made but also look that bit special
Kohinoor do look good
A lot of Asda's meals say 'serves 2' when at 400g that's a bit on the stingy side, so I don't buy them for my partner and myself. I often buy a meal for two from their Bistro range, they are really nice and only a couple of pound more than their bog standard range
Yes need to be serves 1, you're right.
My favourite in this range is the lamb karahi, great balance of spices that's well worth the asking price.
Yummy, will try it
Not tried these particular ones, but in general I think Asda ready curries are the best of the rest
The different meals from this range at Asda have definitely been the best Indian meals you can get from a supermarket. I dunno why its taken so long for a company to get it right. And like you say, even if you were served this in an Indian restaurant, you would still be happy.
Because Asda are now owned by Indians instead of Americans 🤷
I've had the lamb curry from Asda a few years ago when it was £2.50 and it was honestly one of the best curries I've ever had. Asda are really good
Great review Mate, will check them out.
Thanks for the info all the best
Cheers for the information 👍
Does microwaving vegetables make them less nutritious?
The cooking process can cause some destruction of beneficial compounds in fruits and vegetables (phytochemicals, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals), BUT it can also make some beneficial compounds (such as lycopene) more available to the body. In fact, microwaving is actually a good way to minimize the loss of nutrients!
I've been told microwave cooking is ok for nutrition
Thanks Gareth brill review..I'm of to asda😂... can't wait...😊
Hope you enjoy it!
To be fair it looks amazing though I'd be off put by the price before seeing this, nutritional values aren't too disgusting for a ready meal either, looks like it'd be banging with a nice naan few poppadoms ans some chutney - still only serves 1 though 😜
It cost me £5 in ASDA Tilbury. Wonder if £4.50 was an introductory price?
No they been that price for ages. Bad timing review and price increase
The internet says..
There's nothing about microwaves that damages food more than other cooking methods. In fact, microwaving can actually preserve nutrients. I would always microwave something like that, the oven seems to dry them out.
Cheers for the information 👍
*Oh brilliant brilliant review and amazing find on this recommended Beef Madras Curry from Asda 👌🙌👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻*
Special thanks to the person or persons that suggested this. Awesome
OMG Gareth we could be brothers, everything you like seems to be what I like.
That’s not infatuation mate just seems to be the way it comes across to me, and my favourite also happens to be Keema naan 👍🏻 top man another great review keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Cheers Bill
Ok it should be good for £4.50 for one potion don’t forget you need to add the cost of at least a potion of rice to make a meal , and don’t forget in the 30 minutes you’ve been waiting for it to warm up you could have knocked up a authentic BIR curry from scratch for a fraction of the price and I guarantee it will be 10 times better than the Asda one , have a go and let me know bud 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Yes can't beat homemade pal
Yes naughty Asda, show the meal with a 4.50 price tag ,then you scoll down its gone up to a fiver, write to them Gareth, and say anyone mentioning your name at checkout gets the 50p reduction 😁
Haha 👍
Kinnel! Got to drag mysen to Asda now, of all places!. I do wonder if these things shift off the shelves quicker if they get the thumbs up.
Haha cheers pal
This guy cracks me up...😂😂😂
Eating an average ready meal curry like its A5 wagyu
How do you know it’s average? Have you tried it? Asda are owned by two British Indian brothers and I think people with Indian heritage probably know a thing or two about curries as do the majority of Brits.
I managed to get one Gaz from my local Asda in shaw oldham only 2 left this was a fiver!! gonna give it a bash next week will give you my vote!! cheers gaz🤔🤞
You're welcome, glad you got one
Im not always rushing out to try some of the foods you try Gaz, but that looked absolutely bang on - 2 things Gaz, was the heat good, and would Gaz buy it again?! (I always wait for that bit). Love it when you get a good un, only foodies get it when we go mmmmmmmmmm thats amazing! 😋❤️😎
Haha cheers
My misus watched this and referred it to me. Didn't know it was a madras ruby. Way too hot for me although i could get the flavour which was nice but was overpowered by the heat. Too bad.
Cheers both thank you.
Cheers for the information. Someone mentioned it in the comments.
Asda do great curries. Well done asda.
- 4 For saying it's for 2 people.
Aldi do Jalfrezi like that beautiful
i had these a few months back delicious, I live in London go Brick Lane weekly for my Beigels but to be honest i wouldnt touch a curry there rats everywhere
Oh really 😳
There saying that these dishes are £5 on there website maybe your Asda is a bit cheaper although it's expensive I suppose it's no dearer than having a takeaway and if it's quality as you say then you don't mind paying top dollar. Asda is now owned by two Indian brothers so if they can't get it right then we are all doomed
Yes I got mine 2 days ago.
Go to Farmfoods and try the hot and spicy dynamite bites mate they’ll be right up your street 👍
Cheers Ross, yes seen them 👍
Be great to hear what a person from the Indian culture thinks. Or is it just a British idea of what a curry is. Here in NZ curries have a lot of sugar in because they think it’s Western taste. Coming from the UK it was a huge shock. 🤢. I always ask, please no sugar. You have to order the day before at my local restaurant
Why don’t you do any food from Ocado Gaz?
Review M&S Chicken Arrabiata. I buy it because I can't make it better.
Cheers pal, will take a look
Would love to see you do a video review at Brick lane curry house. Get the Phall 😂
I also love these curry's
Great review Gaz.
Noted! Love too
You've tempted me to try it 😊 I'm going to order one on my next shopping delivery from Asda and have it as my treat for this month.
Thanks for your food reviews. They're no nonsense, say it as you see it truth rather than a paid promotion.
Hope you enjoy Lisa
@@BaldFoodieGuy Thanks for showing us this, I loved it! I had it with the Royal Pilau from the same range and a mini peshwari naan. It did me for 2 nights tea 😃 I'll be buying it again.
One thing, it wasn't £4.50 as you said, it was £5.00.
Asda nearby i never use, I'm out there soon!, that looks fantastic.
Hope you enjoy
Serves two white mice maybe haha.
Looks very good and will try,and also do you use Head and Shoulders, your hair looks great 👍👍
Wash and go
Hi Gareth. Great review ( as always ). Can I ask how you would rate the spiciness of this curry. Would you say it's as spicy as a restaurant madras curry ?
No sorry I forgot to say. Its not as hot as a restaurant.
Looks nice Gareth.but it may be hot xx😂😂yes one person xx😂😂😂
Cheers Frances, hope all is well. X
You could add more meat to the curry with pea and pepper rice, not a beef eater myself though, hope you enjoyed it xx
Good idea xx
Rapeseed oil again. Tut tut.
Have you ever tried ‘Mumtaz’ currys? Also very good 👍🏻
Yes very good
Those things sell out fast in my local asda, but i will keep an eye out for them.
Good luck mate 👍
Great review, Gaz! [Don't eat the curry leaves...!]
I didn't, cheers 👍
I get the Aldi Gastro Range ones at £3.80 and they are really decent 👍
Cheers Paul
