      The dates are a guide, and people throw out so much food because they are rigid about those dates. Just use those senses (sniff, look)! I grew up before households had refrigeration, and meat came wrapped in paper. No plastic back then.

    Don't know why anyone would unsubscribe... It's great to watch a food channel that cooks normal stuff from a supermarket, not expensive stuff that people don't necessarily have access to or can afford. Keep up the good work. I do exactly the same as you, bit of water in the jars of curries, pasta sauce etc.

    Really entertaining cos it's so spot on as to how things really are in kitchens up and down the country, like putting the pan on with oil in it after forgetting to rub the spices into the meat, late dash to put the onions in... we've all done it! lol - just a tip, always have some of them garlic granules in so if you suddenly find you're out of garlic, or your garlic has sprouted/gone off, you can cheat by sprinkling some of them on. That curry looked delicious. 😋Next time you're thinking of doing one, give us the heads up, I'm only an hours drive away! 😂🤣😂

    Good sauces those are from Lidl. I think the Madras is the best one but the others are very good. i sometimes put a teaspoon of naga sauce in to get it extra hot when I fancy a hot curry.The Naans they do which are normally at the bottom of that section in my store are also good. Taste of India ones. I put them under the tap to get them quite wet, then put in the air fryer for 4 mins . They come out hot but also nice and soft. Peshwari is my favorite.

    those curry sauces are delicious we have them in australia, you need a rice cooker my man, perfect rice every time, a little tip, 2 tablespoons of oil on the raw meat with 1 tablespoon bi carb soda 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1 egg white, mix very well fridge it, marinate for an hour before cooking - meat will be so tender you can break it with you're tongue, good video pal.

    • @shsh-he5qg
      @shsh-he5qg 8 месяцев назад +2

      Would never use a bottled curry sauce ! When you put a bit of effort in and use fresh ingredients and spices , it’s a different level !!
      But places like uk Australia etc , where your used to eating frozen foods etc this is counted as cooking 😂
      But recommend you to try making fresh !

    • @jimg9820
      @jimg9820 8 месяцев назад +2

      bi carb marinating for the meat sounds like the velveting technique often used in chinese cuisine.

    • @TapManDancer
      @TapManDancer 8 месяцев назад +3

      Surely you don't need a whole tbsp of bicarb soda?

    • @btcharlee9727
      @btcharlee9727 8 месяцев назад

      It is and works on all quisines but I would be using a teaspoon amount. Small issue is sometimes people can taste the bicarb if you do a marinade, however, only had this a couple of times. A stew for example, I would add a teaspoon of bicarb to the meat, mix with a splash of water and put in the fridge for 30 mins, then take out and wash off. The bicarb has done the tenderizing as seen by the change in the colour of the meat, more pink.

    Hi Gareth another comment before I get into your video !!
    I regularly have a mixed fruit salad with my home brew yoghurt for my lunch , and enjoy it. ( Nice and healthy !!) Today for something different, I had chopped yellow mango, beetroot ( a sweet beet ) and pineapple. Could have had papaya from the garden as well but my bowl was full. I squirted SALAD CREAM on top ( sometimes do with other fruit. ) and enjoyed it. As they say, don't knock it until you try it !! Beetroot was local, nearly finished from one of my wifes marketeer friends. Day temps are going up now so root veg take a hit. We are at present HAVING to fill one of our ponds up by pump from the irrigation channel. Takes a while the pond is 3 metres deep plus new banking. Keep up the good work, please, they are always entertaining and educating ! Keep well, all our best wishes to you and yours ! Don, Phannee and the boys.

    iv bought a similar kit from aldi that im going to put in the slow cooker , i normally use pataks madras paste its just right for me on the heat side.
    i also do with my limited cooking skills one pan pork steaks with garlic and ginger gravy , other spices can be added , used or removed :-
    1.fry the steaks off and place to one side.
    2. fry onions and mushrooms until they start to colour.
    3. add garlic and ginger to the shrooms and onions.
    4. when you smell the garlic add in stock of your choice.
    5. put the pork steaks back in.
    6. simmer for 10 mins.
    7. plate up and with any veg you want.
    you can add flour / corn starch to make the gravy as thick as you want.
