So excited to see and hear what The Cadets do with this! That soloist at 5:00 is just absolutely magnificent. Hopefully Cadets will have someone to match that, if it is in their show.
We now know what the Cadets did with this, they absolutely nailed it! They got better and better every show and on finals night their show was just thrilling. The Cadets' cornet soloist was just fantastic for her last performance. I think any of the cornet soloists from the Black Dyke Band across the years would be proud to have her perform beside them.
I've listened to several performances of Immortal and this one is the best one and my favorite. The horn players all had great nights, I loved the tempos here, just perfect. It was played fast where needed but not pushed so you could hear the power of the brass, and the beauty of the silence between the notes. The timp player must be recognized as well, as he was absolutely at the top of his game. His timing and dynamics were perfect, the tuning was perfect. A virtuoso performance.
I was lucky enough to be in the room for the original recording of this (the joys of being a leeds met student at the time) and I was blown away. An exceptional piece by my favourite composer, who happens to be a nice guy too :) I love it when percussionists compose... gives us something interesting to do!
What can, one say?..This is nearly alian like stuff, from outer space...Superb full score, superb band...The right kind of drill, for every good muscisian in the field.... The very best, in the brand indeed..
Forget UKIP, forget the BNP. Forget every other political stereotype about Britain. This. Just this. All the cultures of the UK collide here. Beautiful.
Best brass band piece I have ever heard. The 2nd cornet solo in response to Richard Marshalls solo has been put in doubt by it being flat. I think this was not by mistake but done on purpose so as to distinguish the two
TheZacman2 I'm sorry, but SCV and BD are next level to CC. They're great but too robotic for my taste. Plus the way they rehearse has no soul and they tend to play too loud before they can take their time.
Literally my utter most favourite brass band piece to listen too ever. Makes me tear up everytime. Its just absolutely insanely beautiful
Totally agree I keep coming back to listen and it never disappoints.
2 years later here… still love it!

Same!! It sounds so good already!!
I saw a vid of community performance and love the charts...yeah trumpet soloist totally up to it... she's gon be STELLAR at finals I'm sure
I think the Cadets are doing a great job. both the brass and soloists do a fantastic job ❤ it's breathtaking
They did. ❤️💛

Is there any studio recording of this song?
Waiting for Carolina crown to play this now.
No offense, but high school kids marching around has nothing on this.
TheZacman2 I'm sorry, but SCV and BD are next level to CC. They're great but too robotic for my taste. Plus the way they rehearse has no soul and they tend to play too loud before they can take their time.
