Illegal 3 Layers of Shingles! Proper way to replace a roof. WINNI

Today I’m going to show you how we are going to replace the roof on our 160-year-old rental property. We discovered that we had three layers of shingles on top of our roof that was leaking. It is not allowed to put more than two layers of shingles on any roof.
Today I’m going to show you how we went about replacing the roof on this old house.
This will be our first attempt at roofing, and we definitely learned a lot along the way. We are learning as we go and sharing as we learn on our const ruction journey.

Thank you! The only wood was dry. I just didn’t see the need to remove it. It was make the roof stronger.

When installing Zip your nails should not over-pernitrate the sheathing.

Nice job. Hate multilayer rips on boards.
In the future ice+water first then drip edge. Ice dams can start in gutter and get behind drip edge. 1” down on the sub fascia works well.

You can tape the ends of the sheathing that are on the edges that are exposed so if water ever gets behind drip it won't swell up.

Yes the nails are still there they don't come out. The nails get taped down and the entire roof has ice and water shield which has tar that seals around the nails.
