You really undersold the latest update-- draggable wedges, physics improvements, and netcode fixes are INSANELY valuable to those who are still playing the game

Those updates should have been released in 2022. I really want to play this game but the infrequent updates keep me from getting the game. Now I only watch scrapman and kan waiting for the developers to release chapter two

    • @ThatDarkSquid
      @ThatDarkSquid 4 дня назад +4

      "undersold"....right...
Draggable wedges - all wedges were already achievable before the update.
Physics improvements - only improvement is you can put a lot of tiny loose parts. Other than that countless creations were broken because they changed part collisions and weakened the joints. Moreover these physics changes don't only apply to "Smart" physics (which, other than the part I mentioned before, only dynamically changes the physics level depending on creation requirements -> means you could already achieve the same result before update by lowering physics) but also to the others so you cant even escape the creation-breaking changes.
Netcode fixes - there are no noticeable ones. Astonishingly it is worse than before: constant player desync which was much better before the update.
Believe me, (at the very least for the technical side of SM), this update is virtually nothing but a stepback and people are calling for a rework in the next update.
It is quite obvious that this update was just a way for them to just delay chapter 2 yet again and still have the "promised update of 2024".
(this by no means should stop people from playing the game or anything of the sort, I know i will keep on playing. It is just such a shame to see how they completely disregard everything that was made before the updates by changing physics and other unnecessary things like hitboxes... same thing happened with survival update.)
ok thats a chunky reply.... probaly should be a comment instead....

My first ever game on steam was scrap mechanic, around July 2016. I was already watching people like scrapman for ages and always wanting to actually play it.
Around 1000 hours and i honestly still enjoy this game

@@EsodillaIt’s been a really long time since the last major update, it may not be all to easy to find something fun to do, but it’s still fully up to your creativity as to what to create. The shear amount of stuff that is possible with the system already in place is obscene for a game that technically hasn’t even gone through a full release. I don’t expect anyone to stick by the game for all this time without any big updates, but ya can’t think that there isn’t still stuff to do, it has more streamlined possibilities than Minecraft for what’s possible in game, and look at the amount of stuff that just keeps coming from technical Minecraft! Read this in a casual tone, I mean no hostility!

i think the most important thing for enjoying Scrap Mechanic is pacing yourself. playing the game for a bit, then giving it a break, then coming back to it is key to leaving the experience with the game fun

    I'm fine with slow development.
I mean, they optimized a lot in this last update, and if quality takes time, I'm not complaining.

Really good video, only thing that stood out to me was the *pop* sound almost every time you show an image, its kinda annoying after some time. Also i think using different images for "exiciment" (Ninja 20x in the video) or "axolotl" would improve the video, for example the first time you talk about "Axolotl" you show the logo of the company and after that every time you mention it you show different pictures of real axolotls, and again chill with the pop sound. Anyway great video for a channel with under 200 subs. Here before one million

I do see the frustration as i play geometry dash and had to wait over 7 years for a update that kept getting delayed.
But especially for 3D games, development is a hard thing when adding features as the smallest changes can cause errors in the code to show. So sometimes slow development is nessacary to complete updates
