- Model A Mabel
Well spring has arrived; the heat is beginning and summer is near. While most of the Northern Hemisphere is pulling their Model A Fords out of their garages; well, here we begin to leave them inside more.
This season of Model A Mabel is ending and I plan on returning sometime in the fall when the air is cooler.
I am heading back down to my music studio to keep myself cool with the air-conditioning there.
Until then, enjoy Model A Fords.
Mabel and Jim
On December 4th, 2023, I purchased Model A Mabel from a fellow in San Juan Capistrano, California. 23 hours later it was delivered to my home in Tucson, Arizona. My older brother had accompanied me on this trip, and with the unexpected rapid transit response, we had to zip back fast to Phoenix to drop him off and then I shot straight down to Tucson to receive the vehicle.
Model A Mabel is a 1930 Model A Ford Tudor. It was in generally good shape and appeared to only need general maintenance.
This channel is intended to document my experience in owning a Model A Ford for the first time. It will be from the perspective of a non-mechanic background getting his feet wet - hopefully on the small stuff.
The audience for this channel is mainly for my family and friends. It is a way to relate my progress or de-progress of stepping into a new and uncomfortable zone. I am firm in thought that we all should challenge ourselves from time to time on something outside our comfort zone. Now, anyone is invited of course, and if more folks outside my family and friends watch these up and coming episodes; well, everyone is welcome to see the experience of a newbie in this hobby.

We sure love your Videos friend!! We are going to miss you this summer!! Stay cool and enjoy Little Mrs Mabel!!! Cant wait to see your new videos! Be well…. Lenny
Well, you've done it again. I would have enjoyed the pre-flowers section of the video if that were all there was. The post-flowers section of the video really struck a chord with me. There is an almost spiritual intangible at work in the enjoyment of these old cars that feeds a part of us I do not pretend to understand, but value very highly. Thanks again for letting us in on this journey.
I like your videos! You called me a young Model A owner in your one video comment's. Thanx!!! I'm 56 years young and appreciate your comment!! I've been driving Model A's since the mid 1980"s starting with my Dad's 1931 coupe that he sold to me for a $1 before he passed away in 2016 and we also have a 1931 S/W Town Sedan. It's great that you have your step up son Josh and your brother Curly Dave help you with repairs! I was glad to see that you didn't include a skeleton of Maximus in the introduction of your video!!
LOL! 56 years old! Your still a kid! Enjoy your Model A's.
We here in Curaçao this my wife and I really enjoy you RUclips footages, the way you present your video content is so calm and it’s like we are with you in your country and visiting your warm hearted home.
We apréciate to see how you take care and use your model A, exactly the same over here.
Great to be notified when you have new films.
God bless and we all enjoy our good old Model A’s🤣👍🏼🙏
Curaçao, yes, I took a look. What a beautiful island! Feel free to send a photo of your Model A too.
Thank you for the kind words. I am 71 and tired of the whirlwind of entertainment. Low stress is what I seek now day, and I hope these videos help get past, at least my, Post Traumatic Marketing Syndrome. I seemed to have gathered 303 subscribers, but I have no goal other than to enjoy life and maybe bring some enjoyment to others. Again, thank you for your kind words.
PS Between 2008 and 2017 I had a small home in Ballenita Ecuador, so I can relate to the wonders of being next to the ocean, and I loved the seafood. Take care my friend.
i just love the contentment of it all
Imagine that, A Model A Ford 94 years later still bringing people contentment and joy.
Thank you for your comment and understand of my channel.
I agree with everything you said. It really does calm my soul, and I can't wait for the fall. Happy driving from Ohio
I appreciate your comment. My technical abilities doesn't exist in Model A Fords. However, any hobby, new or many years invested, have reasons that involve human internal makeup. So I am happy to hear that people understand the purpose of my channel. It applies to all things. To stay within cars, I suspect it is valid for vintage mustang owners, camaros, Dune buggies, motorcycles and all else. It all is based on taming the beast within, at least that is my take.
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤗
Always enjoy your videos brother 👍🎸
The Strat bro. Happy to hear from you. My intention is to spend time in my air-conditioned home music studio during the summer. Not putting Mabel away, just slowing it down during the hot months.

This is an example of one of my more current music video using AI voice, as I cannot sing,

This is from an old channel and a more experimental period.
I share this only because you are a musician too. I don't wish to impose, so no bad feelings here if you don't watch, or don't like them. My own family doesn't like my music.
@@ModelAMabel-wf9nv Hey I am grateful that you would share this with me. I like it! My musical tastes cover a lot of ground and genres. I am on the fence regarding AI in music, but I also cannot sing (aside from harmonies here and there) so I can see where it would be useful. This opinion could be related to the fact that I am getting old 😜 but desperately trying to keep an open mind. 👍 I hope that you are able to really enjoy your music through the hot months while Mabel is resting and enjoying some down time. I appreciate your correspondence, best to you and yours! Doug
Excellent narration
Thank you for your kind words snake.
Great video! I will miss you! Are you from Michigan? I hope you will continue to drive the Model A.
What a heart warming sentence to read. Yes, I am from Michigan. Grew up in Center Line Michigan, 91/2 Mile and Van Dyke, near the GM Tech Center.
I absolutely will continue to drive Mabel. In fact, I just came back driving her to the grocery store. The only reason for the break is that it is getting hot, and my garage isn't air-conditioned. So I thought I'd spend my summer in my air-conditioned home music studio.
I will be still working on Mabel during the summer too. Check brakes, maybe new tires, etc., and will record, which will become part of Season 2, and which my family finds it funny that I am making seasons.
I have two cars, a 1931 slant window (160A) and a 1928 Tudor. I have been in the hobby for over 50 years. I have written many articles for MAFCA and MARC.I live in Farmington Hills, MI. My wife and I are looking forward to the second season of Model A Mabel. Very entertaining!
upload higher video in higher quality please
Thanks for the advice. If you could elaborate, it would help, as the video is shot in 4k.
