I absolutely hate it when someone in the booth wants to interview somebody down in The dugout during the game. If I want to see an interview I'll watch Bob Costas, during the game I want to watch a baseball game. Somebody please explain to me why they want to do an interview during a baseball game and not wait until it's over
Compare this team approach to hitting to 2016. The ‘16 team wore starters down from the lead-off man making every at bat a battle. Only sign of that yesterday was Belli’s 12 pitch AB, which ultimately failed. It makes it an awful product to watch/listen to. The important thing yesterday was honoring Ryno. He, Harry and the ‘84 team are why I’m a fan, they hooked a 4 year-old way back then.
Team was winning with Happ at leadoff. Still the best option. I figured they would lose yesterday when they didn't put Nido back in there. Snuffed the flame.
It was looking like a great Sunday for the Cubs organization and their fans-Ryno honored, J.D.s B-day, but then the main attraction, the Cubs ream followed a losing script that they just can't get rid of. To me what epitomized the Cub's losing mentality is placing Tauchman on the I.L. and then calling up Mile4s-Mediocre-At-Best-Mastrobuoni, when Canario and Brennan Davis have been excelling in Iowa. The Cubs seem like a big, dumb kid holding a bag of marbles shaking them but not playing them.
PCA had a couple misreads in cf he could've caught so why not put him in rf? Might have been the game before? He looks over matched at the plate so why not put him lead off. 1 hit a game could spark them.
Here's my idea for a statue for the 2016 team. No players, none deserve it over any other. Have the statue be 3 generations of Cubs fans posing with the trophy, a father, daughter and grandson.
Dead, lifeless, cold fish, TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PASSIVE, watching meatballs down the middle once, twice in a row, Suzuki is back on not being aggressive with no slug to speak of. As a matter of fact, SLUG might be a word this team is allergic to. Seyia had a tremendous 2nd half last season because of the slug. He took it upon himself to strike out more but he was swinging at strikes and barreling balls. He doesn’t say shit to any umpire with a bad call, look say fuck you blue. Counsel….come out and throw some dirt around. These guys seem like enemies rather than a team. And I don’t care what you say….fans can feel this just by watching and following the team and the way they look and carry themselves. Down and out. Misery. That’s all I got. As KAP says……Take that!
You cannot be a seller if you don’t have any goods to sale or anything which any team is eager to buy. Unless we eat part of the salary can trade Suzuki, Swanson, Hoerner. Happ if he waives his No-Trade. No one is taking Bellinger’s contract with those options in his favor.
srry i hate to be negative and i know mets are really hitting cover off the ball but what a piss poor display on ryno day . and tbh after seeing hawkins in booth other day it starts at the top with lack of urgency i wanna see somebody come to podium and say this has to be better and if it doesnt get better we will explore all options . seyia last night literally running out of batters box at a called strike really ticked me off so hopefully theyre taking calls in july and if they have to eat $ so be it
Bad contracts … no trade contracts…. Wth… I think we’re gonna have the same team for the next few years … :) … what about Yosh .. put up a statue for the guy who picked out Ryno number ..oh yeah .. why is counsel so Melo … why can’t he get thrown out !
The team is lifeless because Counsell is lifeless with no sense of urgency. Counsell does nothing to inspire the team and get them to play loose. Jed and Carter knew what the weaknesses were in this team and instead of addressing them they hired Counsell instead. Rickett's may fire Jed and Carter but This team because of contracts is not a good candidate for a rebuild.
Season is over wasted all the talent we have. Horrible 😂 patrick wisdom should be playing every day. Even hitting meager 200 he'd have about 15-17 Homer's atm. But no. It's alright he'll sign with A's or Col next season play everyday and hit 45 like schwaber.
I insist. If players are going to be disposable there won’t be any more statutes. I detest what baseball has turned into. Why can’t we enjoy the game without thinking playoffs all the time? I’m down to appreciating a single win during the regular season. This team as well as most of the others won’t be in the playoffs. You don’t get rid of the whole team at once. I hope someday they learn that lesson. If not, humanity loses.
I remember desticivly when t he e cubs went bad. I made a comment saying o love this team because no matter the lead we’re never out of it after that comment they started playing like shit.
The lineup just has zero consistent day to day players. It’s a bunch of spike games from guys once every other week, and when those spikes don’t happen on the same day, which they rarely do, the offense is just plainly and completely uncompetitive.
So annoying to see guys come up to bat in the eighth and ninth when we’re down 2-3 runs and swing at the first pitch they see for a lazy pop up. Seems like it happens every single day… This lineup is desperate for some competitive AB’s
The Cubs remind me of what happens to a congregation has the same pastor too long--it takes on the characteristics of its pastor. Our owner, president, GM, and manager are all low-key personalities. And the Cubs look like they're sleep-walking through most of their games. We need to fire Jed and Carter NOW and replace them with leaders who are both knowledgeable and subject to showing some emotion. Baseball, like all sports, is almost as much about mental preparedness (emotion) as it is about raw talent. Of course, it would also help to find at least a couple of players who were capable of providing an emotional spark for this team as well.
Give me wisdom batting 1 for 5 with the chance of a Homer. These singles hitters are great if we can string them together but we can't. Using him for the last out of the game and blaming him for the loss is pathetic.
How about Imanaga? Last interview after the game he won, thinking about pizzas and what to eat. Welcome back to earth and next time, he should take this game seriously and be prepared : mentally and physically (which he didn’t seem to last Friday).
Hawkins is a puppet clown. I always had high regards about the General Manager position. But this guy Hawkings is meaningless. What are his duties? Substituing Arrogant Hoyer in some interviews? I can’t wait season’s over so this two to be out of Chicago in a hurry.
Sammy Sosa statue is a must. Any other player after him would be a lack of repect. Maybe a statue of one of the jumping and hugging celebration reactions of the 2016 WS at the center of the diamond.
Just a reminder that a certain Vice President of Baseball Operations said,"The Cubs will be competitive." Said every season since the WS core was traded away. Gotta wonder what goes on in the mind of said VPoBO, if this is what he calls competitive. 250mill payroll for 4th place or the cellar. Not sure of the solution but maybe (encoded): JIRE FED!
Cubs disappoint on the daily which is why I stopped watching! Get my Cubs news from you guys! Fire Hoyer and dissolve this team is what promise breaker bone head Ricketts needs to do!!! F the wild card this group couldn't compete at the tee-ball level!!!
What happened to Suzuki’s last year agressiveness? He always comes to hit having already a strike call before each at bat. He needs to stop wining on each count that doesn’t favor him. He looks blocked. He needs to be sit to get clear his mind. I don’t care he hits one or two singles per game with no one on base. He is supposed to hit for power. As this is going, Morel, Bellinger and maybe Busch will end with more than 20 HR’s by the end of this season. Nico will end with less than 5. Swanson, Suzuki and Happ with 17 or less.
What happened to Suzuki’s last year agressivness? He always comes to hit having already a strike call before each at bat. He needs to stop wining and making sad gestures on each count that doesn’t favor him. He looks blocked. He needs to be sit to get clear his mind. Thanks for the show Mick and Ant! LET'S GO CUBS!!! ⚾️✌️💙🐻

Great show!
I think a mural of the fans at Wrigley after winning the 2016 world series would be nice. They won it for the fans
I was the usher in 114 115 while ryno was at Smokies. He is well deserving of the statue.
I always liked how Ryno never got really dirty … but he always got to the ball
We need one of their 7 game win streaks asap.

It's a shame they couldn't get anything going on Ryno's special day.
Next statue should be Dawson or the Bryant Rizzo embrace after the final out.
Team was winning with Happ at leadoff. Still the best option. I figured they would lose yesterday when they didn't put Nido back in there. Snuffed the flame.
How about a statue of Mick and Ant 😅
Don’t love the look of the statue but it is what it is. We’ll have to get used to it. I would have preferred a batting stance but wasn’t up to me.
Giants series we need to take 3 of 4
Houston has a Biggio throwing to Bagwell statue
Season is over ? Or is there a miracle possible that happens to the Cubs, and we make it to the playoffs .
Maybe the Cubs should move Assad to the bullpen although that's hard to do with Brown and Wicks injured...

I remember being at Wrigley for Billy Williams day. The rest of the team actually cared enough to play with heart. This team looks dead! Sorry Ryno!!!
I was there as well. Difference is Billy was still playing and personally was a major part of a double header sweep of the Cardinals.
True but you'd think that they might play with heart on such a momentous day!

FUCKING BULLPEN BLEW IT AGAIN
Statue: Tinker to Evers to Chance (too soon to commemorate 2016, not yet Sammy, Maddog is a Brave, The Hawk is prime)
This team has the same odds to be good as a fish breathing out of water

Cubs need to put a Charlie Brown statue, we stink!

I never was a fan of hiring Counsell.
But I’m an important part of the team and ummmm.. I’ve been really consistent for us.
Yes I agree, all those dumb-ass contracts hoyer gave now they are screwed, I'm telling you a TED PHILLIPS, typ move

I have an idea. Start dropping horror movie puns that resemble what we’re going through right now. I’ll get it started. The Silence of the Cubs.
A Nightmare on Clark Street
Midsummer
The Evil Jed
@@billmcg1676 nice one!
When a Sciambi Calls

Yeah we could put him a batting stance with a bat made out of cork and a syringe sticking out of his arm!
cheaters don't get statues
The Cubs sux. Mike from Kodak
