It desperately needs its mega back. It was so good back then, Fairy Type, Pixilate and actually usable stats besides the special defense which was already fine gave it a pretty good boost, DDance was easier to set up, it could run defensive sets even thanks to the added bulk and special sets were an option with pixilate boosted Hypervoice. I really miss its mega
i would be fine if they just permanently change it's flying type to fairy. it would be a reasonable buff imo and i don't think it would be too op anyways.
Actually, a better change, give it a psuedo legendary stat evolution with the fairy dragon typing. Same as archaludon. it'd be infinitely better and people would actually use it

And I EV trained it properly, taught it Dragon Dance and Earthquake and it did quite well in that playthrough. I still have good ole POOFY in Pokemon Home, just waiting for the next chance she can get to Mega Evolve.

Altaria is only really usable in limited metas or more casual settings without mega

Cotton Guard, Dragon Dance, Roost, Body Slam. Aka the moveset of a Mega Altaria that whipped my @$$ on showdown ladder. I stole the set for my own usage and sure enough bowled over. It didn't sweep because they had Toxic Amoonguss, but the Altaria made it so I only needed 3 pokemon among that entire battle, one of which being the one who quicked cleaned up the Amoongus.
I remember that Altaria almost killed me in pkmn Sapphire to play but was good in my team. I remembered having Altaria combo wit Vaporeon copycat n calm mind to make a few shots to defeat my opponents.
Gamefreak is fowl for making this mon part dragon and access to eq. 6 year old me couldnt figure out why my electric types were only neutral and not one shotting like it did everything else in this gym haha
I like using Altaria Back in my days of playing pokemon white 2 my Altaria Harmony clutched so many battles and was a good sweeper too! Had 1 on my omega ruby team And now I have a shiny altaria in Pokémon violet which I randomly found a shiny swablu right by a raid den Altaria is such a good pokemon and it's adorable and fluffy! I agree Altaria is damn adorable and looks so damn adorable with the fairy terra
Cold take: they should just combine the mega stones into one mega stone so they don't have to worry about transferring all the stones and what not and we can get megas back Also sleeping altaria is adorable :3
As I have said before there are NO bad fully evolved dragon types, Altaria simply was just outclassed by other Dragon types before this. So you are wrong to say it was bad previously
