The studio versions are way over produced. Having listened to all of Sierras live recordings exclusively up until this point, the rawness and grit is what I fell in love with. For everyone in the comments hating on this version, it's sad. Of course we all love the Gems on VHS version because that's where most of us first found Sierra. And all of the Gems videos are meant to have that raw element to them. But this is a studio album! It is going to sound different and have a different feel. And personally, I love it! This version of "In Dreams" instantly took me back to 70's era country. It's just so damn good whether it's the unabashedly raw version on Gems or the polished version on the album. Plus, the Gems video was from 4 years ago. People are allowed to change and grow.
I love this song and the video is amazing. But the gems on VHS version has some live nervous soul to it that I feel the recording has lost I still love it. But I find myself heading back to the other version every now and again as the energy to that version has lightning in a bottle. Looking forward to new album!
Loved your version from Gems on VHS, I think it's how I accidentally discovered you and your haunting voice. There definitely is something about listening to country or other traditional styles of music while cruising around the backroads of New England that’s wicked fitting
@@mikeydubbs8565 I couldn't agree more! It's something that I do quite often. As a matter of fact, a short time after I made my initial comment, I ended up purchasing Sierra Farrell's whole new album on vinyl (to add to my country vinyl collection).
This video is just so beautiful and dreamy and makes me homesick for a place I’ve never been. Sierra you have a glow here that is so sweet - it’s as if we’re seeing a side to you that you don’t often show. And it’s lovely.
This is how you mix a song. The singer is part of the music, not an appendage sticking out too loud like a lot of modern country music. The production is so pleasing here.
I'm sorry the producers got ahold of this song. I loved it with you and two Harmony guitars in an old warehouse. You have a natural talent that most producers can't handle. Don't let them tell you what to do. Do it your way and we will love it. There are great people in Nashville but they're gonna want to change you. They're gonna try and glam you up. Maybe that's what you want. That's cool. Just do it your way. I love your song writing. It's so fresh and real and new while still showing roots. Keep going.
A voice like hers is one in a million and her guitar playing is very underrated and yet both are getting buried in this mix IMO. I struggle with the production on this album because I know they wanted to make her more mainstream so they sell more records, and I totally respect that recording is a business proposition, but this is taking it to the point where the songs aren’t the same. It feels like a different melody was written over the original and it’s a whole different idea now. I wonder if people hearing this version first will prefer it more than the stripped down stuff from a year ago. I’m still going to buy the album but I really hope she makes it big and we get more albums because this kind of talent is so exceedingly rare and under-appreciated these days.
@@meboy3 Lol… you’re about 4 months late to this party and I think you’re a bit confused. There’s a difference between Nashville style records and poor production decisions. I think it could have been done better considering the raw talent of the artist. That’s my opinion and I’m as entitled to it as you clearly are to yours. Cheers friend-o.
I love her so much. This version feels so rushed. The Gems on VHS acoustic version is much more powerful and palatable, tbh. I feel like this was a producer pushing her to play this song faster. Still a great track.
I really really want to watch this to support my favorite artist right now but I'm scared it won't be as good as the live version we've all been listening to over and over.... 😭😭
On her other video I saw a lot of comments saying how much they preferred it over this version. IDK, I like them both. Great visual story to go with the song in this video, and still an amazing voice singing it.
I love you. Your voice. Your song writing. I hate whoever produced this track. They took the soul from the song. Your Gems In dreams is perfection. This is so twisted and abused I can't listen to it. Find a record company that doesn't squander your talent. Please.
I sadly have to agree with you on this. (I don't hate the producer, but he certainly isn't as informed on what classic true country music sounded like and did her and us a disservice due to that fact.) It would have been better and more true Sierra style to get old time country session players who played with or studied the recordings of the greats like Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings (and so many others) who would back her up and not overpower her w/ the over production. Her voice is perfect. Her guitar playing is perfect, her songwriting...it's all perfect and unique and any qualified producer would have done so little to that song - I think an older pedal steel player and simple drum/double bass accompaniment would have been ideal. (Like the trio she has w/ more recent live recordings she's done.) But yeah, I really feel the toe-tapping and sing along factor of the Gems version was just so classic and perfect, to hear this w/o a clear and consistent rhythm section and tempo was a bit jarring to hear. Among other aspects. I want Sierra to achieve all the success she deserves for sharing her gift with us - but I wish the producers would have let HER be the producer/band leader and call all the shots in this album. She is pure soul, pure artist, pure original - and knows what classic country music is. She's already a legend - but hopefully she'll record these songs again in the future with her calling all the shots. She's such a true artist that I can see this as just one of the many ways she can stylize this song and I could listen to this perfect song re-done ten different ways - it's that perfect and timeless. Yay to Sierra for being a treasure for all of us to behold and I support her by buying her music but do wish she would produce another version of this song w/ her at the helm. I'm overstating this because I really really love her and her music and she brings me and us all so much joy. (I'm seeing her live next week and can't wait and I will buy merch, like a t-shirt and bag or whatever she has, because that is the best way to support an artist when you see them live...buy their merch!) Love to Sierra!! I look forward to following her development as an artist for decades to come
Recording is difficult for artists and a lot of times you defer to the “experts” Wish they’d release the Gems version on a 7” or 45 . And maybe record with more of a stripped down feel. Either way wish her all the best and I’ll keep supporting her music best I can.
You sure came up with a pretty riff. I dreamt of playing this song by myself sitting on cliffs looking out to the sunset with a single rose beside myself.. thank you for sharing with the world.
I think she was younger in the first vids I saw where she wore the old brown hat or the pirate costume, now growing up some bit I liked the outfits and the old style. Just be yourself girl. Luv it.

I love her so much. This version feels so rushed. The Gems on VHS acoustic version is much more powerful and palatable, tbh. I feel like this was a producer pushing her to play this song faster. Still a great track.
There are few songs that really stick with me, this is one.
This version has really grown on me, now I prefer it to the original! 🩷🌸🌸🌷💐💐
I've been listening to your music for a while now. Glad to see the fruits of your labor finally coming to fruition.
Her tiny desk performance made me a fan
I really really want to watch this to support my favorite artist right now but I'm scared it won't be as good as the live version we've all been listening to over and over.... 😭😭
Omg I love it thax i found this beautiful songs with .new vibes❤❤❤❤❤

Sierra has the ability to put anyone in check......she is truly blessed

Sierra, thank you.
This song helped healed me.
Gripping . . . Hauntingly beautiful
On her other video I saw a lot of comments saying how much they preferred it over this version. IDK, I like them both. Great visual story to go with the song in this video, and still an amazing voice singing it.
My WV girl making big like I knew she would...you go girl!! I'll be watching...💃♥️💙💛
Live on the levee tonight
On my 4th listen and no signs of stopping...I keep getting to the end and want to hear it some more...this could go on for a while

I’m already excited and it’s not yet published. 😁
Haven’t seen it but I know I already like it so I gave it a 👍🏼
I love you.
I look forward to following her development as an artist for decades to come
I couldn’t agree more. I was devastated when I heard the released track. Nothing will beat the soul of the original.
Same song, electrified. Not worse, different.
Recording is difficult for artists and a lot of times you defer to the “experts”
Wish they’d release the Gems version on a 7” or 45 . And maybe record with more of a stripped down feel. Either way wish her all the best and I’ll keep supporting her music best I can.
What a beautiful voice. Love the new arrangement and video..but it is the song that really shines! (..and Sierra🎶)
So sweet and beautiful! Thank you!
I've been listening to this song since you were tuning the wrong peg. Keep up the good work. We love you down here in Pasadena Tx.
You sure came up with a pretty riff.
I dreamt of playing this song by myself sitting on cliffs looking out to the sunset with a single rose beside myself.. thank you for sharing with the world.
Stay true. All the greats did in the end xxxxx
I think she was younger in the first vids I saw where she wore the old brown hat or the pirate costume, now growing up some bit I liked the outfits and the old style. Just be yourself girl. Luv it.
Hello 👋 Teresa. How are you doing? Hope you are fine, I'm Mark Clifford am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Beautiful song that finally gets a great release and a video along with it!
