    Wow - thank you for this - I was experimenting with my pulse oximeter and found that when I fully exhaled and held the exhale, my O2 saturation increased by at least 2%, and wondered how does that happen? You just explained it perfectly. I'm going to have to watch you more often!😊

    Regarding CO2 tolerance: I’ve heard many recommendations to monitor CO2 levels in homes, and to make sure CO2 levels don’t rise higher than 800-900 PPM in the home’s air.
    According to Patrick’s view, is this not important? Is it fine to have higher CO2 levels in one’s home?

    I suffer from chronic anxiety and have tingling in most of my body all the time, how should I breathe exactly?

    • @OxygenAdvantage
      @OxygenAdvantage  Год назад +6

      Hi @stratocaster1986able
      You should learn to breathe through the nose permanently. The best place to start is with light breathing exercises. They are a simple beginner breathing exercises and aren't too demanding but are a good place to start reducing your sensitivity to CO2.
      By doing so you will improve breathing efficiency. Light breathing before bed is also a great way to prepare for sleep and as I'm sure you know, a good night's sleep is a great starting point to reduce anxiety.
      Also, nasal breathing helps to engage the body's parasympathetic nervous system and our relaxation response, making it easier for us to calm down.
      Download the OA app for free and start with some light breathing exercises. There are exercises tailored on the app for anxiety specifically.

      Hope that helps.

    I do have a question. I exercise with nose breathing all the time, HIIT, running with 80-85%, weight training, biking ... everything with nose breathing. At night, the mouth stays closed. I experimented a while with CO2 medical gas as a form of intermittent hypercapnia training, keeping blood O2 at around 80-85% for 2 min with 10 min breaks, 3-4x. I have no problems with that either - getting all warm, frees the sinus wonderfully and wakes me up (side effect is a deranged sleeping pattern if done too often). BUT, when i do breath-holding with or without nose pinching, I feel panic. I can not do it. BOLT around 22 sec. What am I doing wrong? What can I do to get over the feeling of panic?

    • @OxygenAdvantage
      @OxygenAdvantage  Год назад +2

      Hi @nonewhatsoever1000
      We work with people who suffer from anxiety and panic disorder often. In those cases we rarely advise breath holds. At least not in those just starting their breathing journey and certainly not strong breath holds as there is a higher chance of instigating a panic/anxiety attack.
      If you are prone to panic, the breathe light exercise is the better choice for you. You still create an air hunger but it is a more gradual process, less of a stressor on the body and you can take a break at any time.

      Hi, now how can uou reduce the level of yor CO2

  • @eternalwarrior-yp2qx
    @eternalwarrior-yp2qx 6 месяцев назад +1

    Hypercapnia (high CO2 levels) is therapeutic when it's acute and pathological when it's chronic. Two examples of pathological hypercapnia are obstructive sleep apnea and devastating ocean acidity as a result of elevated CO2 levels in the atmosphere.

    • @danielsykes7558
      @danielsykes7558 8 месяцев назад

      Literally off topic. Nobody is saying climate change causes asphyxiation, lol.
      Global temperatures rise, weather patterns become more dramatic, dryer some places, wetter others, hot during the summer, etc. Not to mention sea level rise.
      This throws off food chains and ecosystems. Doesn't mean the planet won't recover, nor that we'll go extinct, but people around the world already face food scarcity, mudslides, wildfires, hurricanes, etc. Which have been getting worse because of various greenhouse gasses, including CO2, Methane, etc.
      The hotter air can already carry more water before it rains than otherwise, and pollution already disrupts the ability to seed rain clouds in places.
      But yeah, CO2 isn't a problem because we have to breathe it in. Nor is it a problem because we exhale it (plants need it afterall)
      Though this guy might help us use it more effectively before we exhale.

      I don't mean to sound dismissive or angry, I'm just a zoomer and am really tired of people my whole life wasting away the best opportunities we have to make this transition early and effectively.
      Y'all have known since the 80s, and propagandists keep convincing y'all to not act.
      I don't want my whole future to have to be picking up the pieces.
      I want to be able to live safely, maybe raise kids

      It certainly seems to be @princesskassandra4253.
      But a little bit more CO2 in your own breathing is a benefit but is not related to the CO2 increases in climate. Thanks for the comment.
