Let me get this right, Jet Set Radio definitely has a cult following at this point, and is naturally a very appealing game as well as SEGA HAVING A CHANCE TO MAKE A NEW GAME and they still chose not to. Shit's crazy.

xnamkcor X It'd probably still make a good profit. I'm sure they both run on a similar codebase. I completed JSR again on Steam and it's an excellent port. There's no reason for them not to do it. I really started loving Sega again when they started porting those oldies but goldies to new platforms. Now it seems they've diverted most of their attention to crap franchises, most significantly Sonic...
xnamkcor X What you say is a bit contradictory. I'm sure we can agree that it WAS a good franchise turned sour. Many would agree that the last truly good game in a series of consistently decent games was Sonic Adventure 2. By that I mean that there have been one or two decent titles over the last decade, but they haven't been consistent and have been swamped by the horrible ones. I liked Sonic Generations.
Yeah same here, jet set radio figure is my childhood game. My dad and brother played the game. My dad said he loves the game because it was colorful, unique and the characters had good fashion.
This game was amazing. Sadly, Sega is too busy sucking ass and can't do cool shit anymore. Last great thing they did was Vanquish and it's kind of forgotten.
So did Anarchy Reigns, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed, Alien Isolation, Sonic Generations, Yakuza 4, and Total War Shogun II just never happen or?
2001. All I had was an N64, Saturn and a Genesis before that so up to this point, and the most advanced game I'd played was Conker's Bad Fur Day, which admittedly is so good it looks like early titles released on the Dreamcast. Played JGR at a friend's house, loved it, was going to buy a Dreamcast but the PS2 had totally shoved it out of the way by the time I had the money and it didn't look like a good purchase at that point. So, myself being young and pretty loyal to Sega at the time (man, how times have changed), I naturally went with the Xbox when it came out and Microsoft kind of naturally took Sega's position. 2002: Bought my Xbox and a copy of the game (those original non-bundle copies go for quite a bit these days). *Just....like, pretty much speechless.* The word *future* was never more applicable. JSRF, along with Halo, was my first proper sixth gen experience and it still looks and sounds so fucking good that really all it needs is to be re-released at a higher, widescreen resolution, a 5.1 mix and little else. The game felt like the future of gaming. I cannot tell you how many hours I put into that game. Just like the first game, it's so absurdly lesser known and still somehow a 'cult' title which is both unfair and a little special at the same time.
God I loved Jetset Radio Future. It was really tough to get ALL of the characters unlocked but my sister and I managed to do it. Thank you for this video! 🤟🏻
For those who love Jet Set Radio, There's a Beat costume for Sonic in Project M that was Hideki Naganuma-approved. Jet Set Radio looks interesting, and I would like to see them appear on Virtual console to give them a shot.
If they only called it Jet Grind Radio Future I would have bought it. I was a dumb kid and didn't know they were related. Seems obvious in hindsight I know but games back then had a lot of similar names and it was a totally different console!
Sed1er Grimdrome Sadly they only have the original on XBLA which would be more convenient but it is available on amazon and I'm tempted! I may check out the local game stores and see if I can beat the price. I definitely want it though!
If only you knew the original was called Jet Set Radio everywhere other than North America, where it was renamed Jet Grind Radio.. Then the confusion for the sequel would have never happened for you.
I want the manga/anime series Air Gear to be made into a game and JSR is such a solid base for it. it's got the skates and the gang warfare, just ditch the spray paint, switch up the music, introduce the battle systems and team ranks and you're away.
This game has so much potential, Sega was wrong to turn it down. I want to see a new design for my favorite characters, especially Yoyo and Cube but I guess it's not meant to be Dx
Still waiting for a port of Jet Set Radio Future, SEGA... I was so mad it was for Xbox back then as a kid. I still haven't played it because of that...
An Original Xbox is not that expensive and the game is not expensive either. I got a Original Xbox, 2 controllers, Blinx: The Time Sweeper, Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future for about $80.
When I played JSR on the Dreamcast, I fell inblove with it, the design, the music, the characters, this is one of my favorites games ever, I play it since and still has a place in my heart. Jet Set Radioooooooo!!!
Needs an update now that Bomb Rush Cyberfunk filled the gap that SEGA left by not approving JSR3. And now supposedly since Bomb Rush sold so well, SEGA is looking into desecrating the grave they insisted upon burying when they refused to make JSR3. All I want is a port or remake of Future.
Since JSRF was backwards compatible with my old 360 I decided to buy a copy online just so I could beat it like I ever got to when I was a kid. That game is still way better than some games that come out today. Oh how I like to imagine what JSRF 2 could be like on todays consoles.
ColourizeTheStreets JSRF looked amazing on the OG Xbox. If they were to somehow make a JSRF 2, It would be like an 8k resolution game requiring a quantum pc. It would look even better than real life.
DANG IT I MISS THESE GAMES! its because of these games that started watching air gear about 5 years ago. (if any one likes jet set radio I highly recommend watching air gear if you have not already.)
I'm a big Jet Set Radio fan. I remember I completed 3 versions of the game (US, EUR, JP deluxe) just to know the differences between them, and everything came to mind when I saw the movie The Warriors. It's like this game is an homage to the movie with the gangs, and the DJ as a narrator.
meh I dunno, I mean we ARE getting a new Starfox game for Wii U 2015. So at least the series is actually still going. I'd say a better comparison would be that Jet Set Radio is Sega's Earthbound. :( A game many people want to see continue...but never will :'( RIP Jet Set Radio. at least Beat is in the Sega All Stars Racing....
This game marked my teenage years. Don't know if I'm entirely right but for me this is the BEST video game ever created, at least for me, because it gathers a lot of things I really really love, Urban art, in line skate, electronic music and futuristic architecture. it is a fine piece of art in all it's expression.
+Clifton Nixon (Clixon) As the date of your post, not necessarily. it was only free for maybe a day or so. Thankfully I was able to get the free copy, along with Golden Axe and a 3rd game (not sure which one, didn't care tbh). But at least now I have a copy of the game and wasn't disappointed. The pc version came out some time ago and I didn't buy it simply because I already have it for the dreamcast and didn't want to shell out another $20+ for an hd version with some extra perks. Anywas, you are correct though, when it was free, the prayers of many were answered :D
It is incredible how this game could be that awesome. It had nothing special but the music and artstyle were so unique that made this game so special!!!!!!!
If they do one It should be on the entire series of games. From Halo CE, Halo Custom Edition, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo ODST, Halo Reach, Halo 4, Halo Spartan Assault and Halo Master Chief Collection. Trust me... There are events in Halo 4 that makes a certain moment in Halo CE (the first halo) make so much sense your mind will explode on how far and how long they've had story details locked away. It's pretty much the control room where guilty spark, master chief, and cortana are talking. Spark answers to chief in a way that made no sense at all at the time. Halo is filled with stuff. I can see this as a really good series if organized well.
***** Well to your first point, in classic DYKG fashion, if they did a Halo series of videos they would cover all topics of interest, which includes all the games, as they have done for many other franchises, so there is no cause for concern there.
Instead of giving the Sonic franchise some time to rest, Sega instead keeps shoving more useless games at whoever still likes them. At least Nintendo doesn't completely rely on Mario
Brandon Schemers Nope. Jet Set Radio is for the Dreamcast (with ports/re-releases for other systems, but not the Gamecube). Jet Set Radio Future is for the Xbox.
Wait Jet set radio had a chance for a 3rd installent and Sega turned it down ? See this why everyone thinks they only make sonic games.

So did Anarchy Reigns, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed, Alien Isolation, Sonic Generations, Yakuza 4, and Total War Shogun II just never happen or?
Jet Set Radio is officially coming back!~
We need a new Jet Set Radio
CeroneGames Go agree
Let's get this comment to the top, it has effort in it.
Jet Set Radio + Dead Rising 3= Sunset Overdrive
No it was Jet Set Radio + Sonic Unleashed = Sunset Overdrive
we need JSR3! c'mon SEGA, if you can do Shenmue3, you can give us JSR3 too.
+TrOllinM4sTEr Jet Set Radio is stupid.
+TrOllinM4sTEr actually it has a spiritual successor called Hover : Revolt Of Gamers
it said it at the end....should of watched the whole thing
+TrOllinM4sTEr they aren't the ones doing shenmue 3 :^)
we'll just have to kickstart JSR3
Men in black suits don't ever listen to guys in multicolored threads like us. ;-;
FisherFishMan should *have learned some grammar in school
Jet Set Radio was my shit. That game had so much flavor and style to it.
God I loved Jetset Radio Future. It was really tough to get ALL of the characters unlocked but my sister and I managed to do it. Thank you for this video! 🤟🏻
My friend had Dreamcast and I loved to come over and play this gem. The good old simpler days, good times…
For those who love Jet Set Radio, There's a Beat costume for Sonic in Project M that was Hideki Naganuma-approved.
Jet Set Radio looks interesting, and I would like to see them appear on Virtual console to give them a shot.
The first game is on steam
dakoda14p
THanks, I might look it up once I get my GC controller adapter.
theres a remaster for the first game
yeah, I prefer his Jet Set Radio Future design though. Oh well
Thats what it was supposed to be!
Darkman was a movie by Sam Raimi, not just a game
Yup. Starring Liam Neeson.. who went on to train Batman. I just realized that as I was typing this.
Smarmee and Obi-Wan...
If they only called it Jet Grind Radio Future I would have bought it. I was a dumb kid and didn't know they were related. Seems obvious in hindsight I know but games back then had a lot of similar names and it was a totally different console!
Dang, Thats deep...
So what did you buy instead of that? Or did you not get anything?
So you are going out and getting it today right?
JSRF is better than the original in every way too. So get a copy asap.
Then the confusion for the sequel would have never happened for you.
man jet set was one of my cherished childhood games, I loved it so much so seeing something similar in the future is great!
I was never subbed to you. Now i am. THANK YOU for covering this old game from my childhood that no one seems to know about.
I want the manga/anime series Air Gear to be made into a game and JSR is such a solid base for it. it's got the skates and the gang warfare, just ditch the spray paint, switch up the music, introduce the battle systems and team ranks and you're away.
There's a game called Sunday X Magazine, Itsuki Minami is in it, not an Air Gear game but close
You're better off getting a 360 and a JSRF disc. It works just the same.
MCtootsie and i just got jsr for $2.50 on steam. shame jsrf isnt on there (or anywhere other than original xbox)
Steve Austin Well. Jet Set Radio: Future is better in my opinion. I got Jet Set Radio on Steam as well.
MCtootsie Really missing something great. Loved the first one.
My favorite DYKG episode, on my favorite video game series!
Now that Bombrush Cyberfunk is coming out we get a sort of new JSR game but it’s not by sega.
Man hope it be better
I would do literally anything for JSRF on PC, ANYTHING.
Well, we still got JSR on steam
Derek147900
xbox emulator is the hard part, there is no decent xbox emulator.
Your profile pic fits your comment very well
I made a petition on steam, with 233 votes so far!
There is, it's called and emulator
Screw Sonic! I woke up and jumped off the Sonic bandwagon after Forces. Jet Set Radio is a much better series that should be brought back.
I had this game and never played it when I was a little kid, I feel like it would have actually changed me to some extent. Its a bizarre feeling.
3:43 "Would you stop playing with that radios o' yours, ... OOF!"
Remember when Sega pulled Jet Set Radio off the app store after i paid for it, cause i remember
i still got mine on my ipod. i cant update after ios 6 sadly
What sucks the most is they probably won't make an effort to make it available again
+Marcus Allen awww
Best investment so far
i remember playing this game as a kid, i never got to finish it tho
Same
Since JSRF was backwards compatible with my old 360 I decided to buy a copy online just so I could beat it like I ever got to when I was a kid.
ColourizeTheStreets The first one was better
Unity United the first one was better
DANG IT I MISS THESE GAMES! its because of these games that started watching air gear about 5 years ago. (if any one likes jet set radio I highly recommend watching air gear if you have not already.)
I'm a big Jet Set Radio fan. I remember I completed 3 versions of the game (US, EUR, JP deluxe) just to know the differences between them, and everything came to mind when I saw the movie The Warriors. It's like this game is an homage to the movie with the gangs, and the DJ as a narrator.
Jet Set Radio is Sega's Star Fox.
Panzer Dragoon*
meh I dunno, I mean we ARE getting a new Starfox game for Wii U 2015. So at least the series is actually still going. I'd say a better comparison would be that Jet Set Radio is Sega's Earthbound. :( A game many people want to see continue...but never will :'( RIP Jet Set Radio. at least Beat is in the Sega All Stars Racing....
XxAngiexXRPI At least Jet Set Radio got a sequel. I can't be the only one who wants another Billy Hatcher.
CrimsonColossus or Amazing Island? another unloved and forgotten game by SEGA.
There are dozens of forgotten SEGA IP's that need to make a return, but the new gamers of today, probably wouldn't welcome them...
JSR and JSRF are super duper underrated
The graphics are so good even now.
This game marked my teenage years. Don't know if I'm entirely right but for me this is the BEST video game ever created, at least for me, because it gathers a lot of things I really really love, Urban art, in line skate, electronic music and futuristic architecture. it is a fine piece of art in all it's expression.
I LOVE THIS GAME... I still have it on Dreamcast after all those years
oh yeha bomb rush cyberfunk announced. the jetset fans rejoice
Suprised you missed the Easter egg of one of the characters wearing sonic the hedgehogs skull on his necklace.
That was probably in a Sonic video
DJ Professer K is coming to ya' to blow the speakers up. Did you know?
Jet Set Radio will always be one of my favorite games!
Yayyy!! I still listen to the soundtrack and play JSRF when I'm feeling nostalgic! Love this game!
"Oh, let's break it dowwwwn!"
"Jet Set Lucioooooooo!"
Hoping the upcoming Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will be a valuable spiritual successor to the JSR series!
EYYYY RATED S I LOVE YOU!
Jet set Radio was one of the best games that needs to be redone one more time. It would look amazing in the graphics we have now for games.
Lol
I'm very happy to see a dykg video focused on one of my absolute favorite video games. I wish a third one were made.
Such a good game...XBOX Series X should have had an updated version of this for launch...
I hope they make another Jet Set Radio game in the future.
Games before: 10 months till completely done
Nowadays: Have an early access, that's fine right?
Well to be fair, games were a lot less larger and detailed back in the day
I'm pretty sure this video me a fan of Jet Set Radio from this video I bought an OG Xbox and JSRF in 2015
Oh man that music instantly gave me massive nostalgia
lucio from overwatch=Jsrf hidden character
in an interview a blizzard employee did actually say jsrf was an inspiration for lucio
Hover: Revolt of Gamers comes out on the Switch and currently out on the PC. The closest thing we'll get to Jet Set Radio sequel.
It is free on steam now!
the prayers of many has been answered
+Clifton Nixon (Clixon) As the date of your post, not necessarily. it was only free for maybe a day or so. Thankfully I was able to get the free copy, along with Golden Axe and a 3rd game (not sure which one, didn't care tbh). But at least now I have a copy of the game and wasn't disappointed. The pc version came out some time ago and I didn't buy it simply because I already have it for the dreamcast and didn't want to shell out another $20+ for an hd version with some extra perks. Anywas, you are correct though, when it was free, the prayers of many were answered :D
Keith Earl H5
was......
Shaleen Baral ahhh :(
It is incredible how this game could be that awesome. It had nothing special but the music and artstyle were so unique that made this game so special!!!!!!!
So nostalgic. Played this so much when I was little.
A Halo DYKG would be really cool ^___^
(unless you did that already and I somehow skipped over it)
they did not do that i belive
6:51 was that a DDR machine in a hotel room? Japan is amazing.
JSRF is still one of my favorite games and I'm so hyped for that spiritual successor that just got announced
Mine too i forgot about this game was searching for the name for days haha. I miss games like this..
Can't believe it's been 15 years already. The entrants for the graffiti contest must be in their late 30s early 40s now. Time flies.
2:30 Is that an edited The New Batman Adventures logo?
Instead of giving the Sonic franchise some time to rest, Sega instead keeps shoving more useless games at whoever still likes them. At least Nintendo doesn't completely rely on Mario
Uh, Sonic Mania isn't useless ma'am.
Least we got cloud in ssb
Daggah Zorrora Sonic Boom and Sonic Forces definitely are though.
@@doncj1997 Yes it is
How come I've never heard of this game! I'm so out of the loop!
Wasn't this on the GameCube? If it was then I totally played this game!
Brandon Schemers It was on Dreamacast
Brandon Schemers Nope. Jet Set Radio is for the Dreamcast (with ports/re-releases for other systems, but not the Gamecube). Jet Set Radio Future is for the Xbox.
Peggy Hill peggy...
No
If you are on Steam, Jet Set Radio received a Steam port not long ago.
So if anyone watches the anime Air Gear, this game reminds me of it... Minus the nudity lol
Air Gear is what brought back the nostalgia of this game
The music composer for the game, Hideki Naganuma, also worked on the soundtrack for Air Gear as well, as the soundtrack for both sound very similar.
Go read Air Gear manga. It blows the anime out its water.
I WAS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO MENTION AIR GEAR
Y'know, if SEGA actually marketed this franchise properly, it could have been a huge rival to the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise.
If ya think about it, Hayashi was a MADMAN. I mean, he sends multiple tanks against kids on MULTIPLE occasions
