As for the video, I am once again astonished. I had hoped most older movie would be accurate but I guess not and also not surprised as its Hollywood.
Hi Frosty, a movie I would like to see next is Battle of Bulge(1965). Famous for its innacuracies depicting the real battle. I love your videos and i wish you a merry Christmas. (Fan from Brazil)
Small correction: the Italian flag used for Sicily scene should be the one with Savoy emblem (because Italy was still formally a Monarchy) and not ISR one, because the latter do not exists until September 1943 and the flag with the eagles and fasces was war banner while official one was without any emblem.
Thank you Frosty 1. After watching this channel, it made me realize that not everything seems accurate. Except I thought The Bug Red One was one of the worst World War II movies I’ve ever seen. I mean, anyone could look at the German tanks and easily identify it as a Sherman. I mean, did they even think before adding this? I mean, at least in regards the tanks, it's not exactly like their were that many German tanks in good condition kicking around and CGI wasn't a thing. The filmmakers had to work with what they had and it's a hell of a lot easier to get your hands on some Sherman's or get the Army to loan some out some Patton's then scrounge up a running Panther.

I would like to see historical inaccuracies in Force 10 From Navarone. This film is notable for bizarre choices and attempts to work budget constraints, yet Force 10 from Navarone is interesting to me, because it is set in Yugoslavia, a front frequently forgotten or ignored in favour of North Africa or Western Europe, it was a missed opportunity to depict a unique WWII region. Also, I like to see you correct inaccuracies from the Dirty Dozen, Kelly's Heroes and Where Eagles Dare, these films get touted as "Being accurate" but it's usually in aesthetics, I think you can dispel these perceptions.
Speaking of Big Red One, will you do a historical inaccuracy video on COD2: Big Red One? Also, are you going to cover Pearl Harbor 2001 and Midway 2019?
the tiger-shermans duel was so bad, wow a sherman designed to take out heavy armor couldnt pen the front of a tiger, wow the tiger advances into the shermans trying to charge him… theres a lot more inaccuracies but these were the ones that bugged me
There is a difference between historically authentic and historically accurate. Historical accuracy is getting the facts correct. The original script had more battle scenes and a bigger cast of characters. Unfortunately, Fuller was on a limited budget and had to cut down on a lot of it. Would be cool to see it one day, though...
They made a reconstructed longer version in 2005 with many extra scenes, is this the one your talking about? We include and cover all these extra scenes in this video
@TheFrosty_1 I mentioned the original script, written in the 1950s. The script was rewritten numerous times before it was finalized. But the original script included a captain and lieutenant character. Griff would also be promoted to sergeant himself and then lieutenant. Yeah, it was very different from what we got.
@@TheFrosty_1 I heard about it before but stumbled upon it by accident. I was trying to find the movie script online but found the original 1950s script PDF by chance. 😅
This movie was clearly meant to be a surrealist satire. I wonder if the director was pressured by the studio into editing it into a traditional war movie.
27:39 Some Corrections on your point about the italian flags. The Italian Social Republic was formed in September of 1943 in Northern Italy and parts of surrounding regions, not Sicily. The flag you showed with the eagle and fasces is the war flag of the Salo Republic, the civil flag was just the italian tricolor. The flags instead should be the banner of the Kingdom of Italy with the Savoy Coat of Arms and Crown, and perhaps some proper Fascist Italian flags if applicable
At first I thought this was about call of duty big red one but was surprised, I like the change in formula, the time it takes to gather all of this information and edit deserves more views Edit: I didn't even notice the enemy at the gates video watching that next

I would add "Journey's End" too. I know it's not as famous as other flicks, but I think it would be interesting to see a video about it. P.S. "Journey's End" was actually a Play and had two movie adaptations (three if we consider "Aces High")
The German NCO getting saved as some sort of moral message sounds a lot like a symptom of the Cold War. Can you imagine the optics of killing a German soldier after the war was over in a movie made when Germany was still in two halves? This was the era of the clean Wehrmacht myth, the mindless meatgrinder Soviet mass assault myth, and Blitzkrieg being a brand new invention by Rommel myth. An era that's only really winding down TODAY. He was a murderous psychopath, yes, but I think the producers got scared of potential bad press, so the script was changed to let him survive.

27:46 Actually those Italian republican flags should be replaced by the flag of the Kingdom of Italy. Since these scenes take place during operation Husky (from July to August 1943) Italy was at that time still know as the Kingdom of Italy and the Italian Social Republic (in Italian Repubblica Sociale Italiana) would not because a German puppet state until september 1943. One month after the conclusion of operation Husky.
Saw this in a theater when it came out. Was really looking forward to it after seeing stills showing what appeared to be accurate uniforms, etc. and knowing Sam Fuller served with the 1st division. It was a major disappointment. I was expecting a straightforward depiction of the life of the average infantry man, instead there was all this weird stuff and all the kinds of inaccuracies mentioned and more. Hard to believe a veteran of two wars couldn't tell the difference between ash faced dead people and rosy cheeked live ones in that ridiculous ambush scene. I don't even bother to watch it when it shows up on TV.
Honestly the craziest WW2 movie ever made, based on a real Korean German soldier who for some reason was stationed in France. He fought the Soviets in Khalkin Gol, deserted, joined the Soviets then deserted / captured (I forgot which one), fought against the allies in Normandy, and then got captured by them.
26:36 i'm italian and that poster pisses me off so much, because there are 3 other huge mistackes. 1) SE MUOIO (not muoiu) UCCIDETEMI 2) the italian tricolor without the Savoia symbol was not very common at the time (You too made a little mistacke here; the italian social republic was born the 23 september 1943, 1 month after the end of the Sicilian campaign, so there were not any social republic flag in Sicily in that period, so again, only Savoia flags) 3) in many fascist propaganda posters the letter "U" is replaced with a "V" from the latin alphabet (Mussolini was obsessed with the roman colture). So I really don't know why but in some words of this ridiculous poster the U are replaced and in other are not. The correct translation is: SE AVANZO SEGV(/U)ITEMI SE INDIETREGGIO V(/U)CCIDETEMI SE MV(/U)OIO VENDICATEMI MV(/U)SSOLINI Nice video btw
Ah, on 16:04 halftrack scene, in the list of Beutepanzer / captured vehicles also includes halftracks too, even in North Africa. Just a note 😊😊 Also, 20:42 would be the "Tank Commander" 😅😅 And 39:50 don't forget the M41 too.
There is nothing to cover about BO6. Its even more ficitonal than Cold War was. And no the Gulf War missions shouldn't be covered because those are complete jokes.
I like the movie inaccuracy videos, its a good change of pace. I will say the funny thing about hollywood making war films during WWII, was that they had trouble sourcing Axis weapons for their movies, so what they did was that they took some M50 Rising's and they converted them into MP40. They look so wierd but they had to do with what they had.
@@TheFrosty_1Excuse me,but are you also interested in making a video on Indiana Jones and The Great Circle?I noticed a couple of STG44 ammo pouches on the Vendor selling manuals in the boxing pit in Gizeh,Egypt. In 1937.
it might be interesting to watch some of the Yugoslav partisan films, there are a lot of them and they are very interesting, for example the Battle of the Neretva or the Republic of Užice or the Battle of the Sutjeska
Great video as always, Frosty! I'm thinking that maybe you could do an analysis of "How I Unleashed World War II"/"Jak Rozpętałem Drugą Wojnę Światową"? One problem is that it's available only in polish as far as I know, although with subtitles.
Thank you for making this video!!! About the missing bullets still hitting their targets, the footage you showed could be a ricochete sinze the impact was juat infront of the german soldier ans therefore couldve bounced up. And about not seeing any bulletholes when soldiers get shot. I partially agree tho there isnt always any noticable entrances on many examples in real life
Material inaccuracies of old war movies drive me absolutely insane. I can't stand any war movie made before Saving Private Ryan. Late 90s through 00s ushered in an era of historical accuracy and realism.
Honest opinion: Nothing can ever be truly accurate. Hell even some reenactors can get some things wrong, historians can have conflicting opinions, and techincal advisors can have stuff wrong. Events like these happened well over 80 years ago, why not we enjoy what is shown to us and not criticize too much?
This might sound like a huge task, but could you try to do the full series of Band of Brothers ( one video per episode) if it has enough historical inaccuracies?
Thanks for this great video i suggest maybe you may some Turkish ww1 or ww2 movies such as Kırımlı(ww2) Gallipoli 1915 or Ataturk 1881-1919(ww1) and make historical inaccuracy video about this movies (sorry for bad english thank you again )
The DAK web gear is accurate. The web gear wasn’t produced in time to replace the leather gear that all forces committed to North Africa had already been issued. In fact, it’s more accurate to see the tan canvas web gear on German soldiers on all European fronts.
16:00 While it's the wrong model of half-track, the germans captured and used a lot of allied equipment during WW2. Rommel, at one point, had half his tanks consisting of various allied models and an english tank as a command vehicle.
I would love to see you break down we were soldiers it's one of my favorite movies and the one that I watched time and time again to learn English . I would love to see how many inaccuracies it has 😂
I still like this movie. It's a well-told story. 6:25 Also, you messed up. It's not a five-man rifle squad. It's just these five men who made it through the whole war. By the end of the war, all others in this rifle squad either died, got wounded, or were transferred. Zab makes a point of this by saying later in the movie that many of their replacements came and went, and he never got to know their names. 12:30 Important dialogue is translated, unimportant is not, and the language barrier is present.

When call of duty 3 or medal of honor?
Aaahhh big red one my beloved one of the few cod games I have replayed from beginning to end multiple times.
I have a suggestion I think that you should point out hacksaw ridge
Do you think that you can do Platoon? We were soldiers, Black Hawk Down, Dunkirk (2017). Even that cartoon show called The Long Long Holiday?
26:36 i'm italian and that poster pisses me off so much, because there are 3 other huge mistackes.
1) SE MUOIO (not muoiu) UCCIDETEMI
2) the italian tricolor without the Savoia symbol was not very common at the time (You too made a little mistacke here; the italian social republic was born the 23 september 1943, 1 month after the end of the Sicilian campaign, so there were not any social republic flag in Sicily in that period, so again, only Savoia flags)
3) in many fascist propaganda posters the letter "U" is replaced with a "V" from the latin alphabet (Mussolini was obsessed with the roman colture).
So I really don't know why but in some words of this ridiculous poster the U are replaced and in other are not.
The correct translation is:
SE AVANZO SEGV(/U)ITEMI
SE INDIETREGGIO V(/U)CCIDETEMI
SE MV(/U)OIO VENDICATEMI
MV(/U)SSOLINI
Nice video btw
Day 7 of waiting for Company of Heroes or Coh2 historical inaccuracy
Day 7 of entitlement to something on a channel that isn’t yours
Thought this was Call of Duty for a sec😂
I love hearing about inaccuracies about a movie I never knew existed!
is that mark hamil at 15:22??
Yep it is Mark Hamil.
Mom, get the popcorn!
You should do the new Napoleon movie because I’m sure there’s a lot of innacuracies
ah damn i thought this was about the game
Ah, on 16:04 halftrack scene, in the list of Beutepanzer / captured vehicles also includes halftracks too, even in North Africa. Just a note 😊😊
Also, 20:42 would be the "Tank Commander" 😅😅
And 39:50 don't forget the M41 too.
Can we black ops 6 now ?
There is nothing to cover about BO6. Its even more ficitonal than Cold War was.
And no the Gulf War missions shouldn't be covered because those are complete jokes.
I like the movie inaccuracy videos, its a good change of pace. I will say the funny thing about hollywood making war films during WWII, was that they had trouble sourcing Axis weapons for their movies, so what they did was that they took some M50 Rising's and they converted them into MP40. They look so wierd but they had to do with what they had.
MAKE AN INACCURACIES VIDEO ON BLACK OPS 6
I’ve seen this a few times and one of my favorites.
What about Black Ops 6? Its about the Gulf War
Let's go. Have you watched Dunkirk or Played Mafia 2?
I Love your videos
Thank you! I have watched Dunkirk but I am yet to play Mafia 2
@@TheFrosty_1Excuse me,but are you also interested in making a video on Indiana Jones and The Great Circle?I noticed a couple of STG44 ammo pouches on the Vendor selling manuals in the boxing pit in Gizeh,Egypt. In 1937.
@@ahmadhadi177 Is the Film good? I heared a Lot of it but never Had the Motivation to watch it
@@sirsee1914 It's not a film. It's a video game made by Machine Games that was released recently.
@ahmadhadi177 well I wrote " or Played Mafia 2?"
Also, nobody never reported Luke Skywalker to be fighting for the Americans in WW2
it might be interesting to watch some of the Yugoslav partisan films, there are a lot of them and they are very interesting, for example the Battle of the Neretva or the Republic of Užice or the Battle of the Sutjeska
Yo bo6 came out when you gonna make a video on that
Great video as always, Frosty! I'm thinking that maybe you could do an analysis of "How I Unleashed World War II"/"Jak Rozpętałem Drugą Wojnę Światową"? One problem is that it's available only in polish as far as I know, although with subtitles.
PLEASE DO COD BIG RED ONE PLEASE
Thank you for making this video!!!
About the missing bullets still hitting their targets, the footage you showed could be a ricochete sinze the impact was juat infront of the german soldier ans therefore couldve bounced up.
And about not seeing any bulletholes when soldiers get shot. I partially agree tho there isnt always any noticable entrances on many examples in real life
Material inaccuracies of old war movies drive me absolutely insane. I can't stand any war movie made before Saving Private Ryan. Late 90s through 00s ushered in an era of historical accuracy and realism.
I’d really love to see you do a video of Cod 2: The Big Red One
Was expecting the Cod game, not the film 😅
do a video on company of heroes 1 and 2
can you do Generation War next?
22:29 You're wrong btw as there are multiple photos of british soldiers wearing battledress in late north africa campaign
Yeah during the winter. Not in May 1943 in Tunis
@@K-Nyne there is a photo dated may 8th 1943 of British troops in Bizerta wearing battledress I'm sure many more were wearing it at the time aswell
I hope you can also review some of the "historical" movies such as The Patriot, Kingdom of Heaven, etc
So why are you watching the movie first, then you’re gonna cover Call of Duty 2: The Big RED One
So we should just accept everything at face value and question nothing? Yeah, great idea...
He's brainless sheep that believes judt because it didn't happen in his lifetime it doesn't matter to him. @@Theakker3B
Eyo akkerman!!! How's it going!
I really like your movie and I'm happy I helped fund it!
Tho i haven't received my contribution reward (a prop k98k)
New video idea: correcting historical inaccuracies in “Pearl Harbor” (2001)
This might sound like a huge task, but could you try to do the full series of Band of Brothers ( one video per episode) if it has enough historical inaccuracies?
It has enough accuracies for an hour-long video per episods, but we're not doing that anytime soon
Not to not pick but at 45:45 the 3id patch is also crooked and should have a blue triangle at the top left not the top right
Cab you do, "when trumpets fade" next?
Thanks for this great video i suggest maybe you may some Turkish ww1 or ww2 movies such as Kırımlı(ww2) Gallipoli 1915 or Ataturk 1881-1919(ww1) and make historical inaccuracy video about this movies (sorry for bad english thank you again )
The DAK web gear is accurate. The web gear wasn’t produced in time to replace the leather gear that all forces committed to North Africa had already been issued. In fact, it’s more accurate to see the tan canvas web gear on German soldiers on all European fronts.
Under 1 hour gang

Thank you for new Christmas Gift
16:00 While it's the wrong model of half-track, the germans captured and used a lot of allied equipment during WW2. Rommel, at one point, had half his tanks consisting of various allied models and an english tank as a command vehicle.
27:55 holy shit Marv from home alone just died!
Hey frosty will you ever do so yugoslav wars movies
Can you do the longest day or westfront 1918 or wooden crosses pls
yeah:D
