What happened to personal responsibility? Gun owners should be responsible. Singapore has the death penalty for this. Swearing and spitting there get jail time. Respect laws of other countries or don't travel.
No wonder why no one goes to Singapore.
@@sarac2636 Singapore was ranked as the #11 top destination city in the world last year. Over 13 million foreign tourists visited. I haven't been there yet, but it is on my list. Apparently the food is incredible, and the architecture is amazing. There is even a Universal Studios theme park, for those who prefer that type of experience..
@@sarac2636You mean YOU can't find it on a map. Many 1000's go there.
Amen
@@sarac2636 Actually Singapore is growing in popularity every year, it's one of the safest countries in the world. And their kids go to school to learn and they don't come back in body bags.
Would the same outrage be shown for a person with drugs accidentally left in their bag? Nope, these same people would be saying they should have checked before leaving and that’s what you get.
Man, it’s almost like they understand that ammunition can kill and other countries do not give a crap about your rights given by America. Play Stupid games win stupid prizes. I am traveling within the USA right now, have never put ammo in a suitcase and the first thing I did was empty all bags I brought because flying has rules.
It’s ridiculous, but why are there bullets in you luggage ?
Hot Tip....when visiting foreign countries, respect and abide by their laws.
Yep. We expect foreigners to obey our laws when they come into the US, so other countries deserve that same respect when Americans visit their countries.
12 years seems a bit much, but honestly why would you have ammo in your luggage? He put himself in that situation.
That's why you double check laws and such and your luggage.
It's one thing to feel empathy for someone making a 'bonehead' mistake, but what about taking responsibility for handling ammunition? It's not the same as if he mistakenly brought a non-lethal item to Turks and Caicos. He's got the governor of Oklahoma vouching for him, as well as $200,000 raised through GoFundMe, so I don't think this is going to destroy their family as his wife complained. Entitled Americans believing that other countries' laws shouldn't apply to them is what this feels like.
Gun owners are obviously not being responsible enough. T&C has every right to have their rules and as travelers go there they have to be respectful. With those loose bullets that TSA missed in the US how can T&C feel secure the guy didn’t have a lot more ammunition when he came and sold it while on his trip. I know this sounds ridiculous, but you have to see their point of view and why they are so serious about this. Guns and Ammunition are not allowed there, period. I can’t believe how people are all asking God to help and intervene when there are so many crazy things and much more scarier going on in this world….I’m pretty sure God is preoccupied. Hope the lawyers can help. Glad the Mom got home with the kids.
How did he pass the check points out of where he left from. This country needs to be safe. Tourism or not!!
Oklahoma.
How in the world does someone accidentally travel with bullets? Why are people acting like this guy is a victim? Like yes, this sucks so much for him, but how idiotic can you be??? If I travel to a foreign country with weed in my backpack by accident, my ass would be going to jail too. This is basic, elementary stuff. It is CRAZY to not know you have bullets in your bag.
This exact situation happened to my uncles father years ago, while visiting Turks and Caicos
Good point - something that is legal in our state or our country is not the same in other countries. People are acting so privileged. Traveling internationally is not the same as traveling from state to state in the US.
@annegallagher7558 it's so disrespectful, not to mention stupid. This guy is really on the news crying about getting in trouble for breaking the law. Dude thinks he's special or something.
@cnc4243 sounds like Turks and Caicos doesn't want any of our reckless American nonsense in their country, and that is completely fair.
Maybe this time, whenever you visit a country you'll finally be checking out the dos and donts of this foreign countries your about to visit and not just planning what will you do inside those countries during your trip.
Guns are common in US, not in other countries.
Irresponsible gun owner. Should search his home to see his Irresponsibly continues at home...
Best tourist advisory T&C could get! Wise up American gun owners.
“Now that pot is legal in my state I’m bringing 40 POUNDS of it to Moscow!!! Wish me luck!!”
It's very clear when you travel what you are able to Take in your luggage.
I agree, 4 hunting bullets without a weapon is very different than a gun with bullets.
Sounds familiar🤔 Someone else made a mistake and didn’t get the same energy hmm
My uncles dad was vacationing in Turks and Caicos and was set up at the airport with a “bullet” found in his luggage. 80 or 90 years old and was stuck there in jail!!!! . He was a retired neurosurgeon just trying to enjoy a vacation
4 bullets? What a joke!
Well not everywhere has mass murder as a national sport.
@@steveb6386 okay hunter biden.
@@mrich9654 What does that even mean?
@@steveb6386 it means your politics are showing. Murdering isn’t a sport in America. Ridiculous comment
@@mrich9654 My politics? What has that to do with mass shootings? Other than knowing thoughts and prayers don't work..
Draconian laws in a draconian country. Not worth your travel time or money 💵
Will his wife spend the 200k go fund me and leave him to serve out his sentence ?
I don’t mean to sound mean, but I don’t feel bad or care. He broke the law and has to pay for it. 🤷🏽
Dumb F that place 😂😂😂😂😂
Something seems fishy, how did he get into TC if those were in the luggage?
Could the ammo have been planted from inside Turks in hotel or airport from someone trying to limit tourist, especially if he isn't the only case
No, he admitted it was his bonehead mistake.
Apologist lawyer
TSA to Blame?
People need to quit the FOMO and take care of your family and get out of debt.
Are those bullets planted or is he saying they are his? If his, very irresponsible.
They are his! You don't hear him saying he doesn't know how they got there but that it was a simple mistake. He left them in a bag he had taken hunting.
i dont feel bad for him. to get a gun you have to learn to handle the gun in gun class. also, you need to know the laws of where youu are traveling too. the mere fact they were wreckless about handling is exactly why its important to know where your gun is at all time. it comes down to safety. and if they have kids they should be taking serious precautions. i dont feel bad for him in this one.
We’ll see how foolish or smart the officials are there to keep him in prison over a mistake vs. keeping their tourism booming.
It will have zero impact on tourism, blackmail seldom works well. He broke the rules. It is that simple..
Most people who go there aren't going to be carrying ammo, so this won't stop them. Plus, T and C is getting a lot of free press. They could likely see an increase in tourism.
It might keep fellow NRA or Oklahomans away, but the wedding business won't suffer.
@@irismckay6472 Indeed.
The tourist will still go there. It is a beautiful island paradise. This incident isn't going to deter people from going. If anything I feel safer going to a place where guns are not allowed in. We here in the states are in a mess with all the guns we have. I thing Turk and Caicos have it right. No guns or ammo and people are safe to enjoy this beautiful paradise. People know this guy did a very stupid act and chose to disobey the law. Something I would not do! No drugs, no guns or ammo. I understand I am a visitor to their country and I have to be respectful and abide by their laws. I would be surprised if they budge. If they do, others will disregard their law. They do not owe him a get out of jail free card just because he is American and an arrogant one at that. Believing their laws, shouldn't apply to him.
turks and caico Not worth your travel time or money
He had a few bullets that were probably loose and in the bottom of his bag that he probably had no idea was there…… it’s about intent. Normally if you have a gun you have bullets and I’m sure he had carried his gun in that bag at another time…. Simple mistake and a lesson for everyone to check their luggage before traveling. And stay in the States when going on vacation……
If you don't want to abide by the country you are going to be visitings laws and show respect for them.
@@joannepackus5736 He didn’t know the bullets were in his bag. He said if he knew he would have taken them out. Most men who have guns have loose bullets in their pockets or bags or change holder…… they don’t think about it. He just didn’t pay attention…… it had nothing to do with him intentionally disobeying the law.
@@shaneencalade4988 Well! Most men if they go to a foreign country and forget will get 12 years. I know he said that but it wasn't very believable. The bigger question is why was this not detected at the U S airport. If they would have caught it there then none of this would have happened.
@@joannepackus5736 You are exactly right…. Why wasn’t it found?? I agree!!!
Oh my. This really is nuts. Calling all Americans to start a boycott for travel to Turks and Caicos. Let the country sit in their decision and see how long they go without our travel and tourism. Poor family this has got to be traumatizing!
As an American, it makes me want to go to Turks and Caicos because at least I know it's safer from gun nuts then America is.
@@sweetboo1022He didn’t have his gun…. Normal everyday Americans who have guns and respect the law aren’t going to be the ones who hurt you. Drive through the Hood with gangs and drugs and stolen weapons and you might not do as well….. let’s keep the shit for real. Guns don’t kill you…..people do.
Safer than the schools in America we are expected to send our kids to.
@@sweetboo1022I agree 100 percent. I’m ready to plan a trip there. 😊
🎻
and we wonder why people hate americans abroad, we're so entitled. and he's acting like they were bringing money into their economy....sir....they were also bringing guns and guns equal violence...and you know what's bad for tourism...violence.
How did he get through security at our airport with ammunition in his bag. Something is not right here! Not buying that it was a simple mistake. AMERICAN'S NEED TO BE RESPECTFUL OF THE LAWS WHEN THEY ARE VISITING ANOTHER COUNTRY. Such arogant's! Stop wasting tax payer money by thinking our government needs to get involved in bailing you out of the situation you put ourself in.
you know what would be funny, is if he sued the TSA for not catching him
12 years seems harsh I would go.with 5 years.
12 years is the maximum. Most tourists who have been caught over there (and there have been 7 other Americans before this guy, 1 whose trial is pending) have been given fines and released. Most likely he will just get a fine, but it sucks that he has to stay in the country until his trial.
go have that baby soon hun!
Jersey shore or beaches in Maryland are just fine...no need to go abroad
I will not be visiting that country and many others......not worth it, mistakes happen and they do not look at it as a mistake.
As if you were ever going to visit there anyhow, give me a break
My God! My Prayers with this beautiful Family, come back soon a his Home.🦋🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌿💟☮
Beautiful and white and no doubt god fearin, yeah?
DOPEY GUN NUT gets BUSTED. HA!!!!!!!!!
The Oklahoma governor stepping in to defend this man who broke the law in a foreign country by bringing in ammunition but yet he has no problems putting women in jail for having an abortion when they are either raped or the life of the woman is in jeopardy. Seems pretty backwards to me. It’s simple the man broke the law whether it was a honest mistake or not. Respect their laws.
Cowboy up! Your citizen broke another country's law. Your TSA failed this man! Maybe the governer should be paying into the Go Fund Me for this mother who will have to be caring for her kids because her husband thinks he is about the law in Turks and Caicos and got a reality check.
