Ryan Watson is accused of having ammunition in his carry-on luggage, which he called a “bonehead mistake." Criminal defense attorney Joshua Ritter questions the purpose of the particular law.

What happened to personal responsibility? Gun owners should be responsible. Singapore has the death penalty for this. Swearing and spitting there get jail time. Respect laws of other countries or don't travel.

It's one thing to feel empathy for someone making a 'bonehead' mistake, but what about taking responsibility for handling ammunition? It's not the same as if he mistakenly brought a non-lethal item to Turks and Caicos. He's got the governor of Oklahoma vouching for him, as well as $200,000 raised through GoFundMe, so I don't think this is going to destroy their family as his wife complained. Entitled Americans believing that other countries' laws shouldn't apply to them is what this feels like.

  • @patroberts5449

Gun owners are obviously not being responsible enough. T&C has every right to have their rules and as travelers go there they have to be respectful. With those loose bullets that TSA missed in the US how can T&C feel secure the guy didn’t have a lot more ammunition when he came and sold it while on his trip. I know this sounds ridiculous, but you have to see their point of view and why they are so serious about this. Guns and Ammunition are not allowed there, period. I can’t believe how people are all asking God to help and intervene when there are so many crazy things and much more scarier going on in this world….I’m pretty sure God is preoccupied. Hope the lawyers can help. Glad the Mom got home with the kids.

If anything I feel safer going to a place where guns are not allowed in. We here in the states are in a mess with all the guns we have. I thing Turk and Caicos have it right. No guns or ammo and people are safe to enjoy this beautiful paradise. People know this guy did a very stupid act and chose to disobey the law. Something I would not do! No drugs, no guns or ammo. I understand I am a visitor to their country and I have to be respectful and abide by their laws. I would be surprised if they budge. If they do, others will disregard their law.
