Aaron Tveit!
Ramin !!!
Jeremy Jordan for sure
Carmen Cusack. She has done Phantom of the Opera and Wicked and if that doesn't show how much of a powerhouse she is then I don't know what does. Bright Star is by far my favorite musical of all time and it honestly gets no recognition but she is great. Also her costar Paul Alexander Nolan (also from Bright Star) can hit a G#4 with very little effort and he is incredible.
For male actors
Jeremy Jordan and also Ryan McCartan and also Ben Frankhouser or either way Ben Platt
For female actresses:
Eden Espinosa, Kristine Chenowith, Phillipa Soo, Laura Osnes and as well Anna Kendrick 😊
I saw Ramin and clicked and was eagerly waiting for his position. I got slightly worried as it got to the top three and he still hadn’t been mentioned. For him to be 1st just made me smile so much. I adore Ramin. He’s easily one of my favourite actors and performers and I absolutely adored watching him in Funny girl, Anastasia and Phantom. He just owns everything he does and I’m so glad he’s getting the recognition he deserves
Same!! I’m thrilled he got the top spot! He absolutely deserves it.
He makes it all look so effortless.
And Les Misérables
Missed Mentions:
- Alex Brightman (School Of Rock, Beetlejuice): Brought two iconic, and hugely different, film roles to the Broadway stage
- Ethan Slater (SpongeBob SquarePants The Musical): A proper triple threat, helped to make The SpongeBob musical so successful
- Aaron Tveit (Next To Normal, Schmigadoon): No one can compare to this powerhouse performer
I’d add Patrick Page to that list as well
Barrett Wilbert Reed (Heathers, mean girls)
Khoby Wardell (Ride the cyclone)
Aaron Tveit should've definitely been up there.
I haven’t even finished the list but I can’t believe that Aaron Tveit isn’t on the list!! I’m also pretty disappointed! 😭❤️
@@rubygracemoseley8144right like wth. That’s my favorite singer
@jacobmccain8794 He’s not my absolute favorite but he’s so incredibly good and talented. My sister and I obsessively listened to his “I LOVE YOU” from Moulin Rouge’s El Tango De Roxanne 😂
@@rubygracemoseley8144 omg “El Tango de Roxanne” is top 10 best musical theater songs I have ever heard and Aaron EATS that song up. No crumbs!! I’m also a big fan of Tony Yazbeck and Raoul Esparza. Raoul’s “come to your senses” from last year’s miscast is one of the best live performances I have ever heard and seen from a male Broadway performer! He always leaves everything on the stage acting wise and vocally!
Seriously, how is he not even an honorable mention?
I saw Ramin in Les Mis, Anastasia and Funny Girl. One of my favorite Broadway memories is that I was prepping to audition for a community theatre production of Les Mis. I stopped him on the street in between shows and asked him for advice. He stood there and talked to me for at least 20 minutes giving me advice. Not only is he an incredibly talented performer but he loves his fans! Not to mention that he’s also gorgeous!
I just saw Ramin as the phantom in Italy and he is definitely number 1 ! Unbelievable singer and actor ! Everyone was speechless after his performance !
Ramin absolutely deserves the number one spot. I’ve only heard him do Phantom but that alone is good enough for him to be number one. His voice is insanely beautiful and powerful! But his acting is what really makes his performances amazing. He just seems to become whatever character he plays fully embracing them and understanding them…
Yes
Sutton Foster is definitely a modern legend. She can belt out those high notes like no one else.
I also love Sutton!! Her voice is incredible and I am astounded that she can still belt it out after doing complicated dance moves!! How DOES she do IT??!?!?
Many, many people can belt better and higher than her, including every other woman on this list.
I’m sorry but her performance in music man was mid at best
@@cameronmaxwell1330 She was horribly miscast in that role. She isn't even a soprano.
@@kristashafer93098 All the people on this list are amazing, but I admit to loving Sutton Foster the most! Perhaps it is her singing and her tapping ability.
there is no one like Sierra Boggess her voice is unmatchable and she is 100% the greatest Christine
2 words: EMILIE KOUATCHOU!
Hey let's not compare both Sierra and Emilie. To me they're the best in every single way
I love Sierra!! Such a gorgeous voice! She’s hands down my favorite Christine!
You may only get to hear her once in this video but you get to see her twice. Thanks "Till I Hear You Sing" music video!
Agreed! Plus, she seems like a wonderfully warm, down-to-earth human being. I love her so much.
Listen, I see Ramin on the thumbnail, I must click
Same
Mood
So it’s not just me then… good
Yay! I’m not alone!! Cuz I did too!!! He’s such an incredible performer!
Same here!
I was lucky enough to see Ramin in Les Mis and boy was he mesmerizing. I understand the hype around this man 100%. He has such presence, you cannot take your eyes of him when he is on stage.
I loved Ramin’s verse in “All I Ask of You” (Reprise) in Phantom
I’m sorry, I agree with most of these, but Phillipa Soo not being on this list is a CRIME. She has played some of the most vocally challenging roles on Broadway (Eliza in Hamilton, Guenevere in Camelot, Natasha in The Great Comet, etc.) and she’s a stunning soprano. There’s A LOT of talent on Broadway, but I’ve honestly never encountered a voice that can move me like hers!
ok… great
Erm, the vocalist you encountered like her but just far surpassing her is on this list, Cynthia Erivo. Her and Soo played similar characters, and Erivo came out on top. When I was younger I didn’t get why Soo lost but after seeing Harriet and her other works, I get it completely.
YEEEEESSSSSSS RAMIN! His singing voice is absolutely stunning and he makes it all seem so effortless. I hope I'm lucky enough to see him perform live one day.
I’m glad that was she was an honorable mention but I was really expecting Sierra Boggess on this list too
Farewell, Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, all good things must eventually come to an end, and it's certainly earned its status as one of the longest running Broadway shows.🎶 🎭
Just came to make sure Ramin was number 1, which he of course was 🙏
Jeremy Jordan and Ben Platt are among my theater favorites. Although, I wonder if MsMojo knows that Jeremy Jordan was in Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventures as one of its major new characters- Varian.
I got to see Ramin on broadway in funny girl and oh my God. He IS the BEST part of the show.
You must have seen it with Beanie then 😂😂😂😂
He was out with covid when I went to see it 😢
@@williesullivan3985 I saw it with Beanie and he was the best part, but have listened to the recording with Lea Michelle, and he's still the best part of the show. She's able to keep up with him better than Beanie, musically, but his voice is just so good.
Yes
Both he and Lea were out when we went. I went to see him. What a waste.
Wholeheartedly agree with Ramin in the top spot! Gorgeous voice, and incredible actor! Hard to believe he never had any formal vocal training.
#2 Cynthia Erivo and
#1 Ramin Karamloo
Perfection!!
Cynthia Erivo is such a great singer! When she belts it’s just so wonderful!
For all the Broadway singers, I feel like Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess are the greatest ones. They're just so powerful
I agree with Ramin but you missed Aaron Tveit and Christian Borle!!
Christian did fucking well as vox from hazbin hotel
Bzzzztt! Any Broadway singer list without Lea Solonga and/or Eva Nobelzada is just some random person listing their favorites.
Ramin as #1 is the best decision this channel has ever made.
You chose well, Ramin is superb in anything he does. I have seen him perform solo concerts here and in England. He’s just the best, and absolutely charming as well.
The fact that Aaron Tveit isn’t up there is a crime.
No Aaron Tveit?!
Ramin is such a gift. He also has no formal training, which makes me adore him even more. I met him in NYC at City Winery, and he’s such a gem. His voice is angelic in person. ❤❤❤
I love Ramin Karimloo and especially Raul Esparza.
Yes Ramin! I am so glad he is number 1! He is just brilliant!
Christian Borle, Aaron Tveit, Stephanie J Block, Derek Klena
So glad to see Cynthia Erivo celebrated here! She's my #1. I"ll shout out Leslie Odom, Jr, too. :)
I got to see Jessie Mueller as Adelaide in Guys and Dolls at the Kennedy Center last year and it was absolutely iconic. So glad Ramin was number one, his voice is transcendent!
I honestly think I'd faint seeing Jeremy Jordan live! His voice....AhhhHHHhhhhhHHHhhhhhh....🥰😍🎶
We were on The Broadway Cruise with him from New York to Bermuda. He put on several shows, simply amazing! I recorded him singing "They Just Keep Moving The Line" and put it on RUclips. His meet & greet with fans was so nice. Also on our cruise... Laura Benanti, Kristin Chenoweth, Randy Rainbow, Alan Cumming, Michael Cerveris and Scott Wittman.
Ramin ❤❤❤🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Can’t wait to see him as POTO again in Italy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Cynthia Erivo’s voice is the 8th wonder of the world… I’d argue that she shoulda been #1! ❤
A good argument! Vocally, she’s definitely number one in my book! But - just like the video says - she’s less of a Broadway actress and more of a movie actress! I think The Color Purple was her only Broadway role. She’s definitely one of the greatest singers to EVER grace Broadway, but her Broadway resume is far less than Ramin!
I think this list is actually the most accurate one, imo!
i know christian borle was featured at the start but he definitely deserved an honorable mention too,,, but i completely agree with this list omg
Ramin Karimloo is my Roman Empire. Everything about him just shines. I watch his Phantom at least once a week. I listen to his music ah man he’s amazing 😭😭😭
Every single one has an amazing voice. My mother just heard Ramin sing the other day and was blown away.
Amazing voice...except Ben
Ramin has the best voice I’ve ever heard. Objectively.
Umm, yeah you missed a few:
Aaron Tveit
Mandy Gonzalez
Chris Jackson
Karen Olivo
Phillipa Soo
Leslie Odom Jr.
Just saying… the list needed to be 20 greatest with honorable mentions 😊
It’s a sin that Aaron Tveit wasn’t even mentioned in this
I grew up with Michael crawford, but Ramin is my favorite Phantom. Hands down.
Agreed! Crawford will always be iconic but I love me some Ramin!!!
@@kristashafer93098 When I found out he was in the Broadway cast of Anastasia, I almost cried. I saw it in CT when it premiered at Hartford Stage and it was a different actor playing Gleb 😭
Same
Agree with the choices, but maybe better you do teh Top 20. And I wonder you never include Aaron Tveit in this. We know for sure he has a voice as great as your picked male singers
I was lucky enough to see Ramin in Les Miz in Toronto before the production moved to Broadway. He is simply spectacular.
Thank you thank you for putting Jeremy Jordan higher than Jonathan Groff!!! Jeremy’s voice is so melodic and versatile… I could listen to him all day ❤❤❤
How did Stephanie J Block not make the list?
My fave!!!
FRL
100%
I'm glad Ramin Karimloo is the #1 pick! I've actually met him on Broadway in October of 2014 when he starred as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. :D
I'm super excited to see his Phantom performance in Italy next week ❤
Totally agree that Ramin Karimloo deserves the #1 spot!
So happy to see Josh Henry here. He was my favorite Aaron Burr by a long shot. ❤ Would have added Aaron Tveit and Eva Noblezada to the list!
I wish Alex Brightman had at least been an HM. I mean, Beetlejuice! Also, Alex Newell was in the intro but not an entry. They're so good! No Aaron????
I became a big fan of Ramin and honorable mentioned, Sierra Bogass when they did Phantom at ROYAL Albert Hall. Have dvd and CD of this
I have never even teared up from a voice before. Not even Whitney Houston has done that to me. I really believe this Ramin is honestly one of the greatest vocalists in history
Ramin being #1… AS HE DESERVES 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 my favorite singer of all time!!!!!
I loved Ramin in the 25th Les Mis Anniversary as Enjolras.
Aaron Tveit seems like a very serious oversight. Not even an honorable mention when I feel like he could definitely outsing a few who made it on the list. Joshua Henry too. That man is a powerhouse. But Ramin did deserve first place for sure. But seriously. Stop forgetting Aaron. Give him his credit.
I cried when I saw Ramin in Anastasia
I clicked on the video because I saw Alex Newell, but they weren't on the list. Also, why couldn't Idena Menzel be on the list if Sutton Foster was and they were both on Broadway in 1996?
Id put Jordan Donica on the list. He's very recent, but he is the new Brian Stokes Mitchell. 😍
Maybe they aren't considered "modern" but Aaron Tveit and Brian Darcy James are perfection
I guess we just forgot Aaron Tveit exists
no Aaron Tveit???
This channel has always been the best. We wish them well.
The fact that Jeremy Jordan is listed higher than Jonathan Groff is poetic if you've followed the narrative that Jeremy apparently has lost out on multiple roles to Jonathan. I agree with both of them being on this list. My only complaint with the whole list is that Shoshana Bean should be more like #2 if we are evaluating purely on voice. She hasn't had the Broadway original cast roles that others on this list have had, but her voice is unsurpassed.
I know it would kind of be cheating to have him on this list considering he was known as a killer singer long before he took to Broadway, but Josh Groban should be an Honorable Mention. He originated the role of Pierre in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 and recently has taken on the role of Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and was nominated for Tonys in both roles. He also played the role of The Beast in the television special Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration.
I agree, he is obvs has an amazing voice but based on videos of his theatre performances I have to say he is made for Broadway!
Josh Groban is in a league of his own. However, he is famous for being a professional singer rather than a Broadway actor. Seeing him play Sweeney was incredible, but putting him on this list is cheating.
Also, this list seems to only consist of tenors.
Yes yes yes! A thousand times yes!
Amazing ❤
Yup, agree! Ramin has taken on many demanding roles and continues to move on and grow. Next stop with Washington National Opera!
Ben Platt has a voice that comes from his heart and goes right to yours. IMHO, he's the best of the best. Everyone else on the list is phenomenal. I would feel joyful and privileged to be in the audience for any one of them. Oh, and I also like Anika Noni Rose and Mikcaela Diamond..
CHRISTIAN BORLE... AARON TVEIT... GAVIN CREEL?!?
Where are my boys?!? 😕
Like Nadya would say "i love Broadway" happy monday morning Ms Mojo, and nice top as well. Take care and God bless you, greetings from Colombia.
I agree with every pick! Ramin is sensational!
I'm so happy to see my fave musical make it on this list of Rent. I got lucky to see it live as a birthday present on my 22nd birthday with the original cast from the movie itself was doing it. At least the actor who played Mark, Rodger, and Agnel who were in the movie played their parts in the musical that I saw. It was heaven. :)
What about Lea Michelle?🥺
ramin and sierra will always be legends
Andrew Rannells is so underrated, I’m thrilled he was on this list!!
Great list but a little sad that Christian Borle didn't make the list.
Eva Noblezada!!
Ramin, Sutton and Renee are all absolute LEGENDS!!!
How did Norm Lewis not make this list
He is not modern.
Ramin🎉
I missed Aaron Tveit and Samantha Barks on this list. But honestly, they're all so very good. Maybe a Part 2?
Ramin is incredible.
Number 1 Ramin!!! dierra Boggess too!! Woo hoo!!
Was waiting for Ramin show up!
Ramin Karimloo- what a beautiful, beautiful man.
Where the heck is Eva Noblezada on this list???!!!!!! Hadestown anyone? Hello!
Glad to see Raul is on here
Okay, how do I become a Jessie Mueller megafan? I'd never heard of her until today, but I'm sold.
Dive deep my friend! ❤
Yes, Ramin is the best reason to see any show
Should have had 2 lists.....Women and Men! Too many missing
Ramin is just in another level 😮
You nailed two of my top picks: Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo. Their voices are glorious, and their acting skills are superb.
Ramin fangirl swooning in the comments. Seen him twice in concert (one of those was with Sierra) and saw him in Funny Girl. Seeing him next month for the first round of new Italian Phantom production.
PLEASE can you include Elena Shaddow in the BEST Broadway Sopranos?? 8 Broadway shows, 2 London shows, shes been in MULTIPLE workshops
I absolutely adore Renée
Alex Newell???? Literally one of the largest ranges ever and absolutely insaneeeeee. Sad they aren’t on here
You put Alex Newell in the intro to your Top 10, but then didn't include the Tony-Award-Winner in your list? 🤔
