I am glad to see BJ continue to thrive - when everyone else is going for power, he still dedicates the pace and style of the plays by the cat-mouse of positioning and subtle ball controlling
Cat and mouse means trying to create dilemmas which is often done with good positioning opening up multiple attacking angles which causes the game to often times become a guessing game because it's hard to cover the entire court. Therefore the term cat and mouse is used to describe that part of the game because if a player can establish a better position giving him multiple attacking angles(ex if he has a really good down the line shot and cross court shot botj available) he then becomes the mouse and the recieving player is the cat and he is stuck in a dilemma because he has to guard both shots and often times will have to guess which shot is correctly to block and if he waits(tries to react rather than guess) he will often just get beat with a great passing shot.
I feel like Staksrud does well against power or finesse players, but not a hybrid of both,. And Ben definitely fits that sweet spot. The way Stak holds the paddle (index pointed up) also limits hit shotmaking, which Ben takes full advantage of through his anticipation and placement.

I think it’s similar to Chris Haworth using gearbox power in doubles and the control in singles. You gotta be abit more precise and singles and the last thing you want is to overhit your ball.
He is using a Gen 3 for both now. Has the last 2 tourneys. Ben won't play with the broken in gen 3 (you can tell when they are broken in by the sound, feds is broken in, tyson's is broken in, etc.)
@@VividTape there’s a possibility that Ben is still using a gen 2 with a gen 3 paint job. My new unbroken in gen 3 still sounds more thocky than the clickier sound we hear from Ben’s typical gen 2 paddle.
Tennis still has nothing to worry about pickleball. A lot of pb players secretly wish they know how to play tennis. And you see how many people watching this final (With Johns being one of the bests) game? Not a lot. A tennis final with the No1 in the world, u can expect waaaay more people watching.

@@tylersullivan9187 I understand that. I tuned in to the live event when this match started and they immediately spoiled the result of the men’s doubles match. Not everyone can be tuned in all day with the announcers. If they wanted to, they could easily avoid spoiling previous match results on Championship Sunday.
@tylersullivan9187 I feel like they need to start recognizing that the overwhelming majority of us wait for the edited RUclips videos and watch them in random order. They should stop saying the results of the other matches in my opinion as well. I hate when that happens. Like damn...I was about to watch that match next. Oh well.
@@Swirlsofclouds Where do you draw the line between what the commentators shouldn't say versus your own "random" viewing habits, especially when the result of a previous match featuring one player may be significant context regarding what the current match means to that same player? The videos are uploaded to the channel in chronological order so it seems that you are making the conscious choice to watch out of order and risk spoilers. I felt that watching this video and the commentators re-affirming BJ's tournament gold chase gave me a lot more appreciation for every point scored.
The commentary was just fine and I enjoyed it. You need to complain to RUclips, instead. RUclips ought to allow more than one audio track to be included, with and without commentary. Then you can have yours and I can have mine.

what do they mean by cat and mouse, i don't get it
@paradise4213 cat and mouse is using the entire court for openings. Johns is the master of angles and drop shots.
That's why Ben remains the best. Federico has more points because he plays more tournaments.

This is Ben in absolute top form…precise, aggressive, unflappable.
A request: let us hear what the commentators say during time outs. No need to edit everything out. There was even a point skipped early in game two.

I just love the commentary of Dave and Meesh! TY for your professionalism and fun commentary!

Me too!
GOAT IS BACK BABAY
Great Job Ben! You stayed calm and cool and showed us you are a GOAT!! Fed today is just not your day!

Can't wait to see Federico and Staksrud vs Ben and Johns

Another gold for the good guys! Congrats Ben! Back on top where he belongs
Thanks Ben for Perfection!
Congratuations Ben! So happy for you. You deserve it. Just need to get the men's doubles figured out and start earning triple crowns again
Federico destroyed Quang Duong 11 to 0 in both games before this match.
Ben covers the court much better than Duong.
