I had actually kind of written off buying a C70, but then Canon made some significant firmware updates that impressed me and showed they still support this camera.
Yea those firmware updates were major! That definitely helped keep me on board for it as well. I was considering a c300 even tho it would be overkill low key
Super 35 is more than enough, Look at the Arri 35. The 'best' cinema camera out right now: 17 Stops of DR. And this camera has 16+. I would say take more time to learn the camera. When I first got it, I had some issues with it , especially coming from Blackmagic. But what I learned, you can't treat all cinema cameras the same. You have to invest in the system, not just in money, but in time.
Yo thanks for stopping by! Yea you’re absolutely right. I was new to cinema at the time and just wanted to talk about some of the things I wasn’t used to with it. But ultimately I love this camera! Definitely learned how to use it more as a system now than how I used to treat it as my mirror less cam. Im still learning but I love it in the cinema world thus far
😂 I feel that! I like it but these things shot me in the foot. The SD cards is a potential issue but more a nit pick. It’s a dope camera tho if u can work through some of these
Coming from the C100 I wish the build quality was a little better, but it’s ok. One of the big strengths of the C70 is terrific battery life - one of the things I love in my C100.
All good points - I just bought one used at a good price, but I still feel new it's overpriced. I came from a C100 M2 so I was prepared for the crop and low light limitations of the super 35 sensor. I personally have no desire to buy the speed booster. I miss the EVF as a run and gun shooter, but I notice most cine cameras don't have them standard anymore. I went into buying this camera with both eyes open so I actually have very few regrets. It's a good intro 4k camera for me. I still might buy a Panasonic S52 as a second cam (insane camera for the money!) but once you have built in NDs and Audio very hard to go back.
Man for sure!! The built in ND’s and audio jacks were game changers for me coming from the R5. But at least u were prepared for the limitations. This is my first cinema cam so outside of reviews and stuff I just had to jump in and experience it. I never experienced the EVF on cinema but never used it on the R5 for video. I have heard about the S52. Might rent it out to try!
Arri 35 is a similar crop size. DR is better than the R5. Sounds like you need to hit lens rental. The Viltrox adaptor is better and cheaper. Clog3 is great in lowlight clog2 is great in bright areas
I appreciate u. This is insight I need for sure still being relatively new to the camera. I’ll try out the Viltrox adapter. Also never thought to try clog3 in low light. I now default to wide dr which I hate doing so now I will try it. Thanks Gabe
@@ShotByCurt I shot an event in clog2 where the lighting was TERRIBLE and the noise on the camera sucked but a buddy told me to switch to clog3 for indoor and low-light shooting as the shadow detail is better and the noise floor was lower. It worked for me. I also used Davinci and its noise feature to reduce the noise in some of the footage too.
@@GabrielScindian I’m gonna try it out for sure! How much did u expose to the right? Also I didn’t see the viltrox rf to ef. If u could link me to the one u have thanks in advance
@@ShotByCurt Clog3 is designed to offer a balance between dynamic range and noise performance, capturing a wide dynamic range while maintaining a relatively low noise floor. I also expose to the right, slightly overexposing my image without clipping highlights. This approach reduces noise in the shadows by capturing more light. In post-production, i can then bring the exposure down, reducing the appearance of noise in the darker areas of the image. However, please be careful with this technique to avoid overexposing important highlights. Since Clog3 has a wide dynamic range, you have some leeway in post to adjust exposure without losing detail.
@@Kewksdesign Appreciate the correction so I can have the right info going forward! I guess I looked at it as since it wasn’t full it was crop. Learn something new everyday
Yeah, this is an older video and your comments did seem like a newby... Full frame overrated. Get speed booster, Low light? Get a better lens ... Get Sigma Art.
Yea definitely was/is new to cinema so obviously just my perspective at the time. Definitely wasn’t trying to come off as a super pro or anything like that. I was used to having full frame in the Canon R5 so using FF lenses on this sucked but I just adjusted.

I'm stil thinking about that camera but it cost grown folks money and my bank account is pre-teen!!

I feel the pain brother - you pay dearly for the built in NDs and Audio
@@Sutterjack definitely a fact. It’s hard to not have them now tho. I hate carrying ND’s even before I got this. Now I definitely hate it more 😂

Watched 1:00 and right of the bat it is your fault because you didn’t do research. 🤦
