- Should you buy the 12.9” M1 iPad Pro or the Galaxy Tab S7+? Which tablet is a better value and which is right for you? A few months ago I compared the 2020 iPad Pro to the Galaxy tab S7 Plus and a lot of you asked me to do an update with the M1 iPad Pro. So, is this even a contest? Can the Tab S7+ hold its own? And which tablet is better for you? The answer might surprise you.
So let’s talk about these two great tablets, cover their features, and see how well they do for multitasking, content consumption, gaming, video calls and general office-type work.
I’ve used both for everything from media consumption, office work like emails and notes, managing my RUclips channel, replying to comments, doing social media work and even gaming.

In my case, I have moved to the S7+ from the iPad Pro 2020. I did pick up the new M1 iPad to try it out. It's very nice, but the S7+ fits in with my workflow better. None of the things that the iPad is better at matter to me. I can't stress that enough. The iPad IS better at some things. They just don't matter to me and that is what matters. The things the S7+ does better actually matter to me. As always, it comes down to personal choice and personal use.

Samsung needs to invest into pro apps designed for the Galaxy Tab brand. For example, S7+ should have its own versions of Procreate and Adobe Illustrator by now, at the very least. They need to focus on professionals a bit more. Still a great buy that I recommend. 👌
I thought Adobe had Android based apps. Did you mean they are not optimized like on the IPad?

@@vanesam3058 as far as I know, Clip Studio Paint is the only optimized art app on the S7(+). CSP is an excellent app, although it is getting laggy, as well as a bit heavy on the battery life when using in-app 3D models...
The avalaible Adobe apps on Android are not specifically optimized for S7(+). They're working fine, but could be way better.
Thank you for the reply. I was looking into buying a tablet and I see that same problem. I thought Ai was optimized though. I also hear the apple pencil was better. So I don't really want to pay the apple prices or be stuck with a few updates and no optimized software on Android. Totally on the fence here.
@@vanesam3058 it depends ultimately on the type of usage you are planning on doing with your tablet.
Adobe Illustrator is not on Android, which is a shame in my opinion. But you can still draw in vectors with Adobe Draw, which is decent... note that if you just want to do art, you have plenty of choice on Android, and S7(+) will suit you just fine.
I do video editing with Kinemaster, which is efficient and very simple to use, but severely lacks in options if you want to achieve pro level video editing.
What is your goal?
With the current iPad OS, there is nothing that the ipad can do that the samsung can't. On the contrary, the extended display, Dex, and free pen makes the samsung a better option for me.

Extended display mode is coming in iOS 15, see WWDC next week! I am upgrading to the M1 iPad Pro and will not buy an Apple Pencil as I already have one and I suspect most buyers are in the same position so YT reviewers make too much of this. DeX is simply a windows UI and has no advantage on a tablet.
Let’s see ipad has a better App Store with way more productivity and pro apps and dex is just a different ui which I pad will get in the next update
@@ogefsr That is if you use it. We all use our tablets different and not many want to buy a expensive tablet just to download procreate but you definitely can. Android also has some pro apps to like csp but maybe not so much. What I am saying is that you won't miss out on anything if you buy an Android tablet.
@@kevinpeng8295if you buy a iPad Pro m1 it should get at least 6-7 years of updates while the tab only gets 3 years of updates which are usually delayed. I haven’t gotten android 11 on my Samsung tab and android 12 beta has already been released. The software updates are something big Samsung users miss out

That's great! Personally, if the Play Store had more professional creative apps (which is what I'll use the device for) then I'd be more swayed to get the Tab S7+. CPU & S Pen aside, they've got iPads beat in terms of hardware features. I've got the 11" M1 iPad Pro
@ツ I’m not being toxic. What I mean by being trash is that samsung tablets are just plain mediocre. The good thing about them is samsung dex but overall, software and hardware are not good. Android has too little to offer. The xiaomi tablets are better when it comes to price

I think I'll stick with my iPad Air 4 and Tab S7+ for now. The new 12.9" Pro is very powerful, but it'd be wasted on me.

Really great work! I've been an iPad fan for the longest and it...WAS my favorite tablet. I picked up the S7+ and idk it's really wowed me. I love the hardware and just the button layout, front camera placement and screen quality really just makes it such a joy to use

@@MarcoFlores-um7cj I have the tab s7 and have none of the issues you have mentioned, only some apps like Instagram and twitter aren't that optimized but you can use the web version which works much better. Love the tab s7 so far!
@@MarcoFlores-um7cj Google Drive works wonderfully without any issue on Samsung browser on DeX mode. I would rather ask, why would you refuse using Samsung browser then? It is one of the greatest mobile browsers actually.

great video as always, S7+ is a great buy, especially of the price right now. Unfortunately, here in Singapore, the price remained the same, the freebies also gone. Between the two, I'll pick the S7+, it's a great device for my need.

@@dudster_ exactly my point, if you're a student and only need a tablet for taking notes and multimedia, S7/S7+ is more than enough. Not to mention the DEX features.
If you prefer the apps of Apple and it's ecosystem, then ipad is for you.
It will be a waste of money if you just buy your ipad just for the chip and not taking advantage of it.

I have the tab s7+ and it's phenomenal. The reason why I didn't go for the pro models were because of the price.
I got the s7+ after the release of the tab s8 series for ₹52999 ($695). The 11' pro costed ₹68900 ($902.68) and the 12.9' around ₹99900 ($1308.76). And these prices are excluding the apple pencil which costs around ₹10000 ($131.01) here in India.

iPad has better apps and more power, however the S7+ has better features with DeX, SD card support and external display support.

Well the iPad Pro too has external display support that too 6K with thunderbolt tha no one cares abt sd card support when u have 2 TB option on the Ipad...the ipad beats the tab s7+ out of the water...

I vacillated between the Tab S7+ and the iPad Pro with M1 but opted for the S7+ based on the price more than anything -- should be receiving it today as a matter of fact. The iPad Pro with M1 was tempting given the huge performance advantage with the M1 SoC, but for my use case the S7+ should be more than adequate. Also, although I've owned Apple iPhones, mostly through my company, for my personal use only my first smartphone back in 2009 was Apple -- I've been Android ever since though I did have a 2016 model iPad Pro for a few years. My current phone is the Samsung S20+.
Great that you ignor benchmarks. I don't think the average user cares as all these new devices are pretty fast. I'm still on a 3rd gen i7 HP running Windows 10 and it's adequate.
but you basically just made an argument as to why benchmarks do matter. your i7 used to be one of the best in its class and it still works now. so naturally, in a few years the ipad will be performing a lot better with new updates than the less powerful tab s7. longevity is also a factor to consider when thinking about power.

Great video, I have watched a few comparison videos from other people and you are the only one I came across that mentions the S7+ at 256gb has 8 gb ram. Now to watch your S7 reg video to see which one I want.
I own a Samsung Galaxy tab s7+ and am happy with it. Maybe a bit bigger than I need. I don't buy Apple products.
Thanks for the balanced viewpoints and not bashing one side or the other.
For a workflow that consists of a ton of web referencing and creating notes/documents, DEX has been extremely useful due to its versatility, and that's what won me over. Also if you need a second screen in a pinch, the Samsung's second screen option is handy to expand the visual real estate to work with.
That's not to say the tab isn't without its faults. I still feel the amount of RAM is just not enough for extensive research and referencing.
I'm not against the iPad though. But for what I do, I do feel that the OS( or more accurately the lack of a DEX-like feature) holds back the iPad's usefulness for me. We have excellent hardware on the new ipads now. Let's see where apple brings the new iPad OS.

About to return my iPad Pro 11 and get a TabS 7 or 7+. As a physician it drives me crazy that I can’t use full electronic medical record systems (like EPIC) in iPad Pro and have to resort to watered down version of it. I can access entire EMR on android devices.

That iPad screen is definitely bigger and I like the aspect ratio more. If you are doing productivity work in landscape you get a lot more vertical space by giving up just a tiny bit of horizontal space. Definitely better for a writing app, it is more like the size of a normal piece of paper. I'll most likely get an S7 or S7+ but I have a feeling that aspect ratio will nag at me for productivity.
I agree in most points, but you have to mention, that IpadOs gives you more options in terms of productivity like videocutting or photoediting. There are more apps, where I feel I get the most out of the device, so the Ipad fits better for me.

It really seems like the s7+ is held back by its software and apps much more than the iPad Pro. I'm currently waiting to see what the upcoming apple event has in store for the iPad Pro to see if I need 16 or 8gbs of ram.

Overall I think the iPad pro is the better tablet but imo that's to be expected considering it's 350usd more expensive in the US and even more expensive in regions like India,and that price is without considering the added value of the S-pen and cheaper storage!
I have the 12.9” M1 iPad Pro, and it is phenomenal! I upgraded from my iPad Air 3, and it is a major step up. It’s now my daily driver. When I need to code, or run desktop hardware or software for my classes, I use my MacBook Pro, but I use my iPad for just about everything else. The downside is that it’s just a little too big for what I need. But it is excellent for note-taking, browsing the web, or reading books. And the way it works with my MacBook and iPhone is the reason why I use Apple products. The ecosystem is just superior to everything else.
The reason the benchmark for the Tab S7 was so bad is only because Android isn’t custom made for the tablet while iOS is entirely made for the iPad, otherwise the RAM power will just be the main competitor.

I have a ipad gen 8 and a tab A7 , but watching movies on the tab A7 is more pleasing due to the aspect ratio.... I think it would be the same with these two devices.....

@L-dragonix ive used android for 6 years (galaxy S4, J3 star, and S20 FE. Laggy garbage. No average userwants to to go through the hassle of updating via pc wires all the BS. IOS is miles better than android in some ways, android does have some cool parts to it.

Well not sure if it is not trolling comment section, but weird thing happen to me that a few days ago i decided to try and buy samsung tab s7+ instead of new ipad. I am using apple since they released first iphone. Even now i am still loving and using iphone 12 pro and new apple watch though in tablet realm ipads are not affordable enough, and do no bring anything that is a game changer.
Of course everything depends what we really need, but i think vast majority of people are just simple content consumers. 2-3 y ago ipad would be my first choice today not really. 🤷🏻♂️
Nice video! However, comparing benchmark stats between the two is kind of unfair since Samsung S7+ came out nearly 2 years ago and the M1 iPad Pro 1 year after that. They are basically two generations and the iPad Pro is designed as a laptop/desktop replacement while the S7+ still falls into the mobile category. They are both very good for their intended purposes.
Absolute top quality reviews...would prefer at 9/10th speed. It is about time Ipad offered a proper desktop multi-display feature like DEX to the Pro range, they have all that power of the M1 and users are not able to take full advantage of it.
By far the best comparison I've ever seen. Very informative and accurate. People only seem to care about benchmarks but as you pointed out very well, it will all depende on what you need and you did everything most people do without needing more processing power and that was decisive to me. I currently owe the iPad but I want to try so badly the the S7 or maybe the S8 when it's out. Thank you very much!
Go for s8 ultra
The absence of a headphone jack is a huge letdown with these tablets. I travel a lot and the in-ear speakers help a lot to block outside noise. Noise cancelling headphone actually use more batteries to filter out noise, which reduces their battery life to around 2 hours maximum.
I know this might be annoying but the only thing you can do is to just get an adapter for headphone jack to the charging port. I know apple has one and samsung should have one.

I use my iPad for 90% of the stuff. Love it but my baseline iPad feels less powerful… I think extra power is good for longevity and stuff.
both tablets are amazing and fast! however, i personally prefer the ipad only because they have better apps (in my own opinion) that i will be using for college!

Do I have to get the 5th gen iPad Pro to have a screen that can compete with the tab s7+? I just want a bigger beautiful screen for watching movies and doesn’t lag after a year. The iPad 9 seems dull on some videos and is a little too small.
I think the m1 is useless without pro softwares that actually need the insane Processing power
@@MarcoFlores-um7cj Folks say that about every A series chip and for the most part it never happens. You can pick up a first gen 12.9 iPad Pro or even a current basic iPad and still be flying through most anything the App Store can offer. Until Apple give up some control and lets developers either bring Mac apps to iPadOS or stop restricting things like the file structure we're never gonna see desktop/laptop class software on this desktop/laptop class chip

The m1 isn’t useless. If baseline chipsets can get at least 5-6 years of updates this m1 can probably get 7 years or more
Try to use modules provided by Samsung for goodlock (or nice lock if goodlock is not available In you region). For and axample multistar module allow you to have resizable, floating app windows in tablet mode. If solves issues like you showed with Twitter or you can have any app in landscape properly
I have the M1 Ipad Pro and the blooming is very noticable in darker areas. But if you're in a decently lit area, it's unnoticeable.

After trying to decide over the iPad Pro 11, or the Samsung Tab S7+ for months, I went with the iPad 8th Gen and the folio keyboard. I am happy that I did that. I got a great tablet for my needs and saved hundreds of dollars. I checked out the magic keyboard at Costco and wasn’t impressed with it enough to spend 300.00 for it. This folio keyboard works great with good key tactile function. I’m happy.

Tab S7+ hands down has much better value.
All this hype of M1 is just insane, I personally think it's an overkill for 90% of the user. And I find Samsung Dex to be a game changer if you are planning to use Tablet as laptop replacement.
iPad is good hardware wise but I wish it had some sort of Apple version of Dex which could unleash its true potential. I would personally pick S7+ simply because of Dex and price at which it comes.
And I am an iPhone user so I know all the benefit that comes with Apple like OS support and optimization.

OLED may go into the cheaper iPads but unlikely as OLED is not suited to tablets. the superIor miniled will be kept for the iPad Pro.

Just like with iPhones oled is the better tech and more premium.
Even Samsung is going OLED soon in their premium tvs with added qled filter color tech and more burn in measures.
The iPad Pro's M1 chip is very capped, simply because a mobile platform doesn't use as much processing power as a MacBook does (with the exception of video editing apps that utilize the power of the M1). Most people who want a tablet look for it just to watch videos, do some work or take notes, and even play games from time to time, people who uses a tablet to edit video is very specific. A Tab S7+ is perfect for a normal person, who could use Dex Mode for work, use the included S-Pen to take notes or draw without having to spend more, watch videos with a better aspect ratio, play all games easily in the max graphics, and even buying a Micro SD card to expand the memory to put photos, videos and other files. Paying more than 300 bucks just to get a "better" processor is not very viable
I completely agree! Getting a few extra photo or video editing apps isn't really necessary for an average user. Plus the photo and video editing apps on the tab s7+ is more than good enough. For a $300 difference isn't worth a few extra apps especially when you have have to spend an additional $130 for the apple pencil which makes the total an extra $430. Then when you add in the extra money for the apple keyboard, the price difference will be so big that you could almost buy another tablet with the difference lol. Plus all the other features you get on the tab s7+ makes it a no brainer for me.

I love how the tab s7 android is more flexible. i played game using gaming bluetooth mouse and keyboard, need apk v3 shooting for key mapping which not supported on ios. playing codm dan genshin inpact with keyboard mouse is a bless. the price also worth for student, just use Samsung Notes apps and easy connect/trasfer large file using cable between android and windows.

I've been an android user my whole life and never owned an Apple product, since I can't stand the control they have over their users, and the crazy hype. But the last week I've been borrowing a friend's 12.9" 2020 iPad Pro, and my goodness, as much as I wanna hate it, I'm absolutely loving it as an architecture student. It's really given me the perfect median and balance between my XPS 15, and sketchbooks and arrays of drawing material. Now it won't be replacing my 9510 XPS anytime soon, since she is the most aesthetic beast of a laptop imo, but the middle ground it fills is perfect, ability to take notes from lecture slides. and copy past images in, but also to be able to sketch right next to my slides right then and there, in a way that actually feels great, has been quite the experience. Low key their software seems to lack SO many basic things that I take for granted on Android (like a damn back button), why tf am I able to 3D depth scan my whole lounge, then export a floor plan of an extension and see it with AR in the room, but I gotta reach all the way to the top left to go back on majority of apps. And don't even get me started on the mess that is iPafOS15. Like after 5 years of Pro iPads, you can only NOW have 2 apps in splitacreen, BUT you can't adjust the side by side app window to a custom size?? On a 12.9" iPad PRO, with the processor of a laptop... Yet I can do it just fine on an almost 3 year old OnePlus phone with less than half the screen size 🙃 If you stuck around this far into the story, this is for you 💛. But long story long, I ordered the 11" M1 iPad Pro, and CANNOT WAIT for it to arrive next week. The 12.9" for me is wayyy too big since I use the iPad as a portable digital sketchbook/surveying device that can take photos on site, then right there sketch over them and manipulate them without needing my laptop, sketchpads, pencils, pens, markers. Etc. Tbf to android tablets, I haven't owned one since my Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 from almost 10 years ago, but from what I've seen (could definitely be wrong) they seem vastly inferior in most productivity use-cases to the iPad Pro. But damn that dex feature is really something incredible!📱

They ipad pro is still an lcd display and they tab s7+ is noticibly better in display not to say that they lcd xdr 1000 mini led is bad but lcd with 120hz tends to heat up more often even with its adaptive refresh rate tab s7+ being amoled means ur saving battery with deeper whiter and dead pixel black and they tab s7+ has the best display in any tablets.
Great analysis. One thing I need to put out there is that in Canada the Samsung Tab S7+ or for that matter any Samsung tablet other than the Tab A7 or A8 don't come with LTE. For me why would anyone want to put down money for a Samsung tablet when you can get an iPad with LTE for a little more money. Samsung can put out whatever tablet feature-sets it wants but if it's only a WIFI model the comparison ends there compared to iPad.

Galaxy Tab S8+ will have an Snapdragon 888+ which will beat the Apple A12Z chip on the previous iPad Pro but still gonna be behind the mighty Apple M1 chip.
A restricted computer processor in a tablet. Perhaps Samsung should put an Intel or an AMD processor in the Tab S8. That would certainly leave Apple behind.

I already have iPad Pro 10.5(2nd Gen) and have purchased some nice apps such as affinity, Nebo, MS-Office suit for iOS, ACDSee etc, I am thinking to switch to S7+ but then I have to let go the subscription of those iOS apps. But definitely newer iPad Pros are very expensive with ridiculously expensive accessories, on the other hand S7+ has some very practical features which are tempting me and that too with a significantly low price point.

I have a Tab S6 (full S6, not S6 Lite). Its stylus is useless, except for touch application without leaving fingerprints. The fingerprint sensor for Touch ID in the screen quit working after a few months. DeX mode and the Samsung Browser are a very mixed bag, not to mention the usual Android issues. So I am here to figure out whcih iPad is going to replace it, and am most definately getting out of the Galaxy eco-system.

I just bought the 2018 Ipad Pro but when it gets time to upgrade ill definitly be buying the S7+ or whatever its predessecor is. Ive always run two phones together, Apple and Android, just to get the best of both worlds so now that Android finally has a "Worth It" Tablet on the market, ill be excited to use it.
Trust me, dont rely on an Android Tablet. I had an older 330$ iPad (The cheap one) and recently got the Tab S7+. The Hardware: A+, Software is an actual dumpster fire. Trust me when i say that having more limited options for connectivity and less external display support is not that useful if ultimately the software is so bad.
Problem starts when you start downloading your 3rd Party apps like Discord, Twitter etc. the android version is usually a blown up phone app and it feels absolutely TERRIBLE trying to use with a trackpad and keyboard. SO MANY BUGS!!
And dont even get me started on the Mouse implementation on Android. Apple has clearly taken their time to implement this on iPad because android cursor support on most apps feels like you are controlling a virtual finger on the screen. Absolutely unacceptable.
And iPads can get better with software updates (Display support etc) but nothing can really save the 3rd party software experience on android because the devs wont get around to it.
Trust me you'l regret it

the ecosystem is a real consideration when you buy a device like that, I have the S7+ and I love everything about it, but it's the only Android device I own, I struggle everyday with workarounds and third party apps to move data and media around between the S7+ and my MacBook or my iPhone, I cannot use the S7+ as a sidecar display, so many other small but annoying factors that made me wished I got an iPad even if I find the S7+ a more valuable and enjoyable device of its own.
I have both. I love my s7+ and it’s vibrant screen, along with 3rd party apps like tubemate to download RUclips videos and Xbox game pass. I love the iPad because I’m in the apple ecosystem with the exception of the iMacs anything. Apple apps are better and more polished, though. I love them both.
If only Samaung had their own pro apps such as procreate or garageband it would be a deal breaker

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 tablet mode and Samsung Dex in a external display are lifesavers. I can zoom on my external display while using the Samsung notes in the tablet. Come on! iPad can't do that.
I think Dex is underrated.
