I’d give this episode 5/5. I think the acting was really well done by everyone. The plot was unique and a nice break up from the usual beats we’ve seen so far and I really enjoy this tale of a doctor turned drunk gunslinger who takes up the profession once more to save rather then take a life.

Amazing blade play! Love all his films and have most on DVD from 20 Year's now and still love watching over and over again!
Haha, the "blade play" is ridiculous. I love this series but come on, you couldn't fight your way out of a paper bag the way he holds the sword.
Ichi is the man!! No matter how he holds his blade he could kill a grizzly in a closed telephone booth!!😂😂😂🙈

Belles séries avec de bonnes démonstrations de Iai-do. (Art de tirer le sabre du fourreau).Pas de trop longs combats de kenjutsu ou Kenzo comme dans certains autres films. Bien dans son époque. Dommage qu’il n’y ait pas de versions Françaises ou Japonaise sous titrer Anglais. Mon japonais à quelques lacunes. ❤
Il suffit d’activer les sous-titres (cliquer sur CC en haut à droite) et il y a un bon sous-titrage anglais 👍

The actor playing the boss is incredible.
What’s his name?
I think it's Renji Ishibashi. I know him from more recent stuff when he is already way older. He is in many Takashi Miike movies. He is so young here. I was like "I know this guy from somewhere" through out this episode and then it clicked. I'm pretty sure it's him. The face is pretty recognisable even tough he looks way younger. Unlike many of such old shows he is still alive. Looked up IMDb but they don't have the cast list there. Someone who can read japanese could maybe figure it out in the outro when they show the cast list.

The last fight scene show that zatoichi sword has a self cleaning liquid detergent or something else, and therefore never ever show blood!!
It's because He is so fast! He keeps the Blade Razor Sharp! Let's Face it!! Zatoichi is Superhuman! He being Blind has sharpened all his other senses. I now know where they got the ideas for Daredevil, but Ichi is way, way better!!
Because it's a TV show , which probably rated pg 13 , which explains the lack of blood
@@afroahmed3989 A few episodes back, a man tried to kick Ichi, and Ichi cut his leg, and the next few frames on screen were the severed leg flying through the air and landing on a wall, and then the man was laying on the ground in the middle of the screen writhing in pain with his bloodied stump of a leg. 😅
I guess it's more because of practical/cost reasons rather than age rating. I don't know if ratings even existed back then.
