Ichi is a blind and humble masseur and a nomadic gambler. He wanders countryside of Japan and makes his living by giving massage and rolling the dice. I have seen these series of Zatoichi films again and again.
Katsu Sintaro made Zatoichi films for many decades, from his young age to his very age, but there were still many series not being seen on RUclips I wonder why no one is uploading new series onto RUclips.

Ah yes, the iconic opening crotch shot. Love this series. Although my favourite fictional character of this genre would have to be nemuri kyoshiro, shintaro katsu is undoubtedly a genius in his craft

43:05 need to slowing the movie speed, ichi helps the woman by holding back the slashes of his enemy's sword, full of respect and admiration for the movies of zatoichi even though they were made a long time ago but they are still enjoyable to watch.

I always did wonder whether or not there really was a spy when ichi decided to make his point between yakuzzà fights & that of city dojo but more importantly the difference between men + women.
Only bcos its out of character for ichi whom always hides & avoids physical altercation true... especially bcos he drew showed sword skills merely to make a point. Right?

I'm fully aware that this is just a movie, but even in movies, it must retain realistic elements. I've watched most of the episodes and throughout the entire movie, I can't help but wonder why a blind man can travel from place to place, more specifically how does he walk precisely on the path without straying from it? Or how does he walk in/out the door without bumping into things? Very enjoyable samurai movie, but realistic elements are irrational and illogical in this movie series.
How can a blind man wander on different roads between cities like Zatoichi?
A real blind man will stay in a big city all the time and do a messer job daily instead of wandering from one city to another city.
Zatoichi is but a tale told by a novelist that will not happen in the real world.
The Tōdōza (the blindman's guild) was a thing, and they _were_ often nomadic, moving from city to city acting as masseurs, musicians and the like. (Yes, blindmen can walk along roads. Ask me how I know. Married to one. Our honeymoon included travelling down through Madeira's _levadas,_ and I'd love to see _you_ trying). Novelists often know more of what they write about than it seems at first glance.
(Also, for your amusement only: I would never poke fun at a typo unless it IS funny, and you WILL laugh with me with this one. Your accidental misspelling of masseur as messer (knife or blade in German) makes it possible to read it as "real blind men would be doing knife jobs". Just like Ichi does) 😀
