  • For our winter break trip to Montreal, we decided to ride the whole metro system, and stop by/pass through every single station on the Montreal Metro! This took a while, but it was surprisingly fulfilling once it was done. Enjoy!

      renewer former TO resident here. Winters about the same but more snow than Toronto. Multicultural, depends on how you define it - MTL prob has the most diverse concentration of francophones in the world. And I’d argue that it has more “things to do” in terms of urban and outdoor activities than TO: much more walkable, compact neighborhoods, cheap transit + BIXI bikeshare, affordable housing ($250k for a downtown condo anyone?), not to mention the myriad of cafés bars and restos throughout the city. For a North American city MTL has an extremely unique combination of qualities.

    • @guldukat2453
      @guldukat2453 4 года назад +3

      renewer understand. Have you checked out Québec government’s free French lessons? They are full time classes anybody can sign up for. Also, MTL has a sizeable anglo population with lots of employers seeking English speaking staff (esp tech, ai, startups, etc.). All depends on the industry you’d like to work in.

      The trains in Montreal are more stylish and appear narrower, and they have rubber wheels so no screeching metal wheels as in TO, NYC, which is much more comfortable for your ears. Also, the stations are more interesting and appear to use less tiling, unlike TO and NYC, which lessens the noise? Quebec based Bombardier, makes the trains for both Montreal and TO, I believe and many other metros.

    • @guldukat2453
      @guldukat2453 4 года назад +2

      George Cranston small correction: Bombardier stopped being the sole supplier of rolling stock for Montreal STM quite some years ago. The current AZUR métro cars are jointly produced by Bombardier and Alstom. Also, all rolling stock on the upcoming REM network will be supplied by France’s Alstom (Alstom Metroplis driverless trains); Bombardier was excluded entirely from that project.

    Awesome video.
    I have already taken ride of all 16 subway lines and the famous maglev in Shanghai in 2017.
    Also took all 4 lines in Montréal when I arrived here. Very distinctive system, all lines are underground and used the rubber-tire. (Only one line use rubber-tire in Shanghai).
    I THINK U CANNOT DO THE SAME STAFF on only ONE DAY on a 700-km network in Shanghai.

    The metro stations and electronic displays should be in French and English languages because not everyone understands one language that has to change .

      Québec only has French as an official language. It could be argued in the same way that other transport systems in Canada should have French too, but that will be a long debate.

      Plus a lot of people speak English in Montreal so it would be very helpful for the English speaking citizens of Montreal.

    Very nice stations but the people here have bad attitudes towards the English just remember we are not
    Welcome here in Montreal Quebec Canada or anywhere in Quebec why it's a French province and they hate ethics .If you want better to live in Vancouver British Columbia .

      With this mentality you're not helping, it's better to be positive and command respect. Remember that when moving to a country it is YOU who should be learning the customs of the land... example: I'm not going to move to Spain if I don't know Spanish or am not willing to learn Spanish. Same goes here, if you'd like to move here then expect to learn French or be open to learn French! A lot of people seem to forget that Québec has only one official language: Français!

      Maybe your problem is the way you approach people in Montreal. My wife doesn’t speak French, but she was gracious about it and treated warmly everywhere. She loved the classic Montreal “Bonjour/Hi” greeting she got in stores and restaurants and on transit, which made it clear people were willing to help her bilingually if needed.
