or Snowdon
The system has 2 types of trains build by either Bombardier or Alstom and runs on rubber-tyre tracks unlike most metro systems. The operator of the system is STM (Société de transport de Montréal)

When we immigrated, our first stop was Montreal in 1989. Even though we only stayed there for one year and I was quite young, I still remember the trains with tyres. This is a really good metro system.
It's one of the best in North America for sure. I enjoyed my brief visit
@@Simon-Andersen I now reside in Vancouver and there's something called Skytrain. The train system is OK because population density isn't so high, but definitely not as good as metro. There's also a new train line built for the 2010 winter Olympics that runs from airport to downtown, and it's already not sufficient, they didn't plan for the population growth.
I live in Montreal and I just wanted to let you know that I've been watching this video at least twice a day because my two year old daughter LOVES the metro 😂❤️ so thank you so much for this video, it's been making her day, every day, for months.
I am so happy to hear that, thank you so much 😊
Everything is so clean 🤩
And the length of the Metro seems to be a lot longer than other cities.
seems so long, clean and nice. Hoping to visit Montreal this summer
The MPM-10 trains were originally planned to have air conditioning but this feature was ultimately limited to the driver’s cab as the tunnel size is too small to accommodate air conditioned trains. The REM trains will be the first trains in Montreal with air conditioning once the line opens as the tunnel size is large enough.
And also there are too few ventilation stations for the metro as well.
Well, the REM isn't part of the metro system and won't be managed by the STM.
Bienvenue à Montréal :)
Dawnn the MR-73 at 7.29 the current chopper is very loud wow what a sound :O
visited Montréal a couple times, and its definitely a very nice city. The Metro is pretty good even though the rubber tires can be quite noisy.
Hopefully you'll be able to ride the REM soon enough too!
I live im montreal and it's been sooo long i did not go to the montreal metro.
But the is a field trip we are go on the metro:)
Så lidt, Montreal er en fed by :-)
The Montreal Métro network carries approx 1.400.000 passengers a day - a lot more than the 750,000 odd mentioned in your video
Hi Tony, maybe i got the data for round trips? I used the numbers i could find on the American Public Transport Association from Q2 2022 :-)
@@Simon-Andersen 750k sounds about right for pandemic numbers, 1.4m is pre-pandemic.
I lived in Montréal all my life and took the Métro very often. I never heard that metal noise when the train gets or leaves the station. What recording mic do you use ? do you greate this sound in your Montage ?
I just use my phone, i've done no changes to the sound so its just the way its been picked up by the mic on my phone
@@Simon-Andersen It would be a plus to use an external mic
The metal sound has always been there. 😉
are you talking of the da da da sound ?
If that is what you refer to, that is NOT a metal sound it is the 3 phase of the starting electric motor and since the new rams have different technologies compared to the 1966 tech this sound does no longer exist. Since the public associated the sound of the doors closing, the STM decided to reproduce the sound electronicly. @@matstrungdang4597
I do not think that using the phone microphone is adequate since it is meant for voice and amplifies the high notes. I never heard such metal noises and in all the videos made by tourist NEVER have I heard that sound@@Simon-Andersen
This is what metros should look like in the us not like some old dirty toasters
Is the Montreal Metro completely underground?
Yes
How long are each of the cars of a Montreal Metro train? I'm guessing 20 meters, and the trains appear much longer than those on the Paris Metro...
The entire train is 152 meters across 9 cars so about 16-17m pr car :-)
A Montreal Train Metro with a subway I ride it today
Yeah I am in Montreal but
😜 Metro 🚇 boi 😜
Where is the toilet check?!!!
Skidegodt mand
In camera it looks beautiful, but in reality it's ugly and dirty. And some stations are very dark.
STM metro is dark, creepy and outdated and filled with homeless and crime
As-tu une version française ?
Meilleur stm 28$ sem c’est gratuit ça !
