I also left many BWE spaces years ago because as a LSBW I wanted to respect UADSBW's concerns about being erased and replaced. But leaving hasn't progressed their conversation nor has it improved their quality of life where colorism is concerned. So I'm done being silent. I'm so grateful we have our spaces now! ❤
i quit natural hair youtube in solidarity and 10 years later the space is all about lace fronts and colorism/diaspora wars lol. Me leaving YT did NOTHING to help improve UABW self image as it was suggested it would. This is how I know the outrage is very selective and the goal post constantly moved.
Wow so you actually quit making natural hair vids on RUclips?!!! So gracious of you and it just goes to show how there’s no such thing as stepping out of your light so someone else can shine ✨They need to learn to shine on their own. And, BEAUTIFUL hair btw😍💕
Mixed woman need to have their own space and stop calling themselves black as we are mixed we are not fully anything we are a mixture and we have a mixture of features which we should celebrate and be proud of. I see some mixed woman trying to fit into the black woman spaces and it won’t they think that we are privileged because of our skin and beauty. Mixed people understand what looking different looks like so we don’t see anything wrong with people looking different that’s the difference
You made a great point about people wanting to look mixed is because they want to look Black. Imitation is the highest form of flattery so being copied is a good thing. They fact that the Black community views this as erasure instead of counting it as a win for Blackness is interesting. But I guess that's because they don't consider mixed ppl black. Thanks for sharing your perspective on this topic because I am a recovering LS savior. I didn't realize what I was doing. 🤦🏽♀️
That’s what it seems like to me. Like, once UABW start repping themselves…it’ll be a brand new day. So happy we have this community where we don’t have to save other people from their own internalized inferiority complexes.
Omg girl this is my new favorite channel! You are doing an awesome job with the video topics! Please keep them coming lol! This is definitely a much needed space and platform for MGMs.
Unpopular opinion I need to take out of my chest. I consider myself as a brown skin girl and I have to say that, THEY HAD LIPGLOSSSSSS (a darkskik woman, a content creator on TikTok). She used to talk about issues in the black community towards black woman (especially dark skin) in general. How the black men will be first haters within the community not just outside the “race”, and other issues. And guess what? She got bullied away by the exact same people that probably wants more people to advocate for them. (And deleted her account, idk if she’s back online) My point is, some parts of the black community are not ready to hear to truth PLUS don’t take accountability of their behaviour or mindset. But are here to point out fingers if you don’t “advocate” or “acknowledge” their trauma. The work must also be done from within!!!! It’s just a thought I had while reading the Reddit comment, the person probably wanted some validation for educating herself (which is good for self-education), but like the rest of the black community you just point out fingers like they sinned for not caring their cross. They’ll be forgetting the part of FREE WILL. They be expecting so much, but not putting the efforts sometimes. Voilà, feel free to disagree, just my thoughts!
@@arielleloda3110 I agree with you 💯and Lipglosss is a great example. She was getting dragged and roasted for saying the quiet parts out loud. Also, part of American Black culture is a tendency to feel entitled to other people’s advocacy and play the victim when it’s time to acknowledge self inflicted trauma and take accountability for regressive behaviors and viewpoints. Thank you for sharing your insights✨💕

@@LoverGirlsAnonymous yup, i did it partially in solidarity (i felt guilty “contributing to erasure”) and to focus on life post-college/ covid hit.
OMG! chrissie used ro tell MLS wmn to give up their privilege for uabw to prove we are not colorist 🙄
That’s just dumb. Also, we couldn’t even if we tried. And we won’t💅🏼💕😏
Exactly WHY i left those spaces. It’s so so deep youre so right.
