Don Dokken was instrumental in getting Mickey Dee onto the Scorpions in 2016. With the departure of James Kottak due to substance abuse issues...... the Scorpions were hesitant about Mickeys drumming style fitting the structure of their catalog of songs.
The Scorpions called upon their old friend Don for more insight and he said Mickey was the best choice.

I have been a huge massive fan of Dokken, Europe, and Accept for over thirty years. Don Dokken's solo album Up From The Ashes is still a PHENOMENAL album to me almost thirty years later. It easily could have been a Dokken album because it is as amazing as Dokken's first four albums in my opinion. John Norum is a PHENOMENAL guitar player and my favorite Europe albums are the first three albums they did with him. Peter Baltes the bass guitar player from Accept is an amazing musician and I love all the albums from Accept. Billy White is a great guitar player himself and Mickey Dee is an incredible drummer. Don Dokken had an amazing lineup for his first solo album that I still listen to very often.

Totally agree. It's actually a lost Dokken album.. The album should have followed Back for the Attack. Anyhow, PHENOMENAL album. I do think there were better songs than Mirror Mirror on it for a lead single.

    • @BAGGEUS1
      @BAGGEUS1  5 лет назад +12

Well, I'll gonna try to translate the swedish parts here then.
But my english isn't that good, but I'll do my best.
John: (1:00) He loves my way to play guitar, and stuff I've been doin' earlier, with Europe 'n more.
He called me up in Sweden, and asked me if I could lay on some guitartones on his upcoming soloalbum.
The plans where that I would just be here in US for just 2 month at first, but we came along so good so I stayed , and now 3 years has past.
Reporter:(1:19) But does it feel like a revenge....after jumping of Europe and all that?
John:(1:25) Eeeehm....I've always followed the way I felt musically, and it was the right time to do it.
John:(1:55) It's great with Mickey in the band, so we can speak swedish even when we are out on tour six month, so it's not only americans around talking.
Mickey:(2:06) When I left the earlier band, there was swedish and danish guys in the band. And I lived over here, and thought that I'll never find a band with a swedish guy again....but this was perfect.
John:(2:55) I'd long hair since I was 10 or 11 years old....(Mickey tries to get a word)....but I'd just cut my hair, I had longer hair earlier, but now I'm halfcut. ("Halvsnaggat" = swedish phrase) Now he's got the longest hair.(John points at Mickey)
Mickey:(4:18) I'm glad that I'm from Sweden and Scandinavia, and the way we work back there, and with that I meen all things, not only musically.
There are more safety around the whole stuff, and to work the way up and move over to here. This is just amazing.
Reporter:(4:33) You've gotta have a little selfconfidence to make it here, and show what you can and what you've been made of over here?
John:(4:39) Yes absolutly, you've got to have that.
Mickey:(4:41) You'll easiely will be eatn up over here. I've got friends back home in Gotenberg and even in Stockholm, who's fantastic musicans, who I tell directly, when you come here, you will be eatn up. (as breakfast) (Swedish phrase)
Blond guy:(4:55) The music you play should be up to date at the right time, got to have contacts, money to finance your playing. So it's just not getting over here and think you're gonna be a star, just cause you have the energy.
You know, there are guys here who are fantastic musicans, who doesn't have musical jobs, who doesn't have any band to play in....so it's hard.
