I'm in Upstate NY, the Rust Belt from HELL. 2012 F150 FX4 SuperCrew Limited. Getting ready to do a full frame cleaning, wire brushing, rust converting, and paint. Then the entire undercarriage, new rockers, cab corners, possibly a new bed, and a complete paint job. With 164k on the clock. It's less expensive to do basically a body rebuild, and keep running it than heading South to find a rust free one. Or worse, buy a new one. My vehicles get salt abused. Not only here in NY, but also on the North Carolina beaches. Next one will be aluminum. Love your channel Brother!

Man, I need to go into the bolt business. lol, I heard the Ecoboost engines have a laundry list of issues. But I have a 5.0 f150 and I didn't know this when I bought it, but they have a typewriter that sounds idling and makes it sound like you're going to throw your lifters out of the truck. Ford said it's normal, all of my mechanics have checked it and they all say it's normal and not to worry. Maybe sometime I'll upload a video of the noise I have and many 5.0 owners have.

I recently spent $2200 on mine… but it was all fluids, belts, hoses, thermostat, water pump, and valve gaskets. Pay now… at your convenience… or later… after getting towed off the side of a road.

Done everything myself and spent well over 5k in parts but she will walk a 5.0 all day!

Was gonna replace with aftermarket manifolds to accept more bolts, but took too long to order. I asked the same question back when I had to replace trans on 2015 F150 (shudder issue) as to whether keep it or buy new one. I should had sold it. Had to change passengers side turbo and drivers side turbo coolant/oil lines. Had to replace other coolant hoses and tank. Now working to replace vacuum pump and valve & intake gaskets also another well known issue. Also, throttle bodies have to be change every 20K to 40K miles, which I also paid $1K a year ago to change. After paying off my truck, I spent an additional $10K in maint and repairs. 2015 f150s are a money pit and is best to sell them

I was super blessed to pay my 21 F150 off at the end of 21. I would love to build a new truck, but at these outrageous prices I'm just going to drive mine and fix it when it breaks. I called a local mechanic even though I had already done the work myself just to see how much they would charge me to change my rotors on a 2020 Durango. The rake is a little extreme on the Tremor, but I'm more concerned with off-road performance than looks. I may level it, but I'm more hoping that Ford got the issues with the 5.0 fixed in the last gen. Used and new prices are off the charts and dealers are still tacking on markups over MSRP on some new vehicles. If you really must get a new truck try to wait until the prices come back down. They will have to come down with the higher interest rates now. Wait them out.

I stay away from turbos, both on gasoline and diesel. I don’t live at high elevation or tow crazy amounts of weight. That said I went with a 2023 ram 2500 big horn crew cab 4x4 with the 6.4 hemi. 89,000 miles should be a drop in the bucket for these trucks with regular maintenance. The factory warranties are shameful compared to what they are charging for these trucks. They have had the same 3/36 and 5/60 for as long as I can remember. If Ford, Chevy, Ram are going to charge $65,000 plus for trucks then I believe it should come with longer warranty coverage. I would say go with the 5.0 if you do get a new or newer truck. It has its own issues but I would say fewer and less costly if those issues do occur. Plus a decent catback exhaust system will sound awesome compared to that V6 ecoboost.

New issue is wastegate rattle on both turbos, there’s info on that all over the internet if your curious on what it is. You can’t just replace the waste gates though.. you’d have to replace the turbos which is north of $1k for new ones and I’m sure it’s almost $1k in labor costs. It’s nothing that will hurt the engine or turbos but it’s really annoying when you have a $45k truck that sounds like it has a heat shield rattling or sounds like the engine isn’t mechanically sound to the untrained ear and don’t know what it is or where its coming from. But then again every vehicle has its own set of issues and some people get luckier than others for some reason lol. Just the way it is, there’s people way worse off than us though so we can’t get too beat up over spending some money at the mechanic shop.
