What kind of spray are you using? How long did you let it dry before touching it? Even I had smidging in the video. You can play with your print settings too.
Jessica Craftings Did you try printing directly onto the vinyl and it did not work? Is that why? I’m just looking into sublimation at the moment and trying to figure out if it’s worth converting my printer as I want to make stickers and prints but the sublimation looks cool and I’ve hear along the grapevine that if you convert you can’t really change it back.
did you try lightly sanding the oracle to give it"toooth"? reason I ask is because I noticed thru using krylon spray with paper is that the krylon begins to crack and disintegrate due to the water. So somethinglike this on a tshirt would prob not last? dont know just asking.
@@ninamcrae7295 no this absolutely would not be for fabric. This is just for regular Oracal adhesive vinyl. For lasting results, I'd use the laminate used on UV and solvent ink printable vinyls. Surprisingly, the hand image is still holding up pretty well despite being through the dishwasher multiple times. I put it on a cup just to see how it would work.
I don't find that brand of spray on my country 😢😢. How can I find it with another brand name? What is it's comercial name? Water based clear coat ir something like that? Please Help, thanks❤️
You can sublimate on HTV the glitter vinyl works best.... but that is also using sublimation ink and printing and the direct method of printing with ink jet printer
I sub in 651 all the time. Actually, I get really cool results when I sub on holographic vinyls. This was an experiment to see what would happen specifically if I printed on 651 directly.
Hmm. You may have to wait extra long for your ink to fully dry then use a sealer. Not sure why that's happening. I may have to play around with some troubleshooting
I didn't have any. I figured for those that need to print in a pinch and don't have it in any local stores like me at the time could use an alternative I always gave yards upon yards of white vinyl and love to experiment and maximize its use. Printable vinyl is the easier route for sure though.
This video is missing steps that is needed like.. press temperature, press time as well as a few more that will save people tons on time and materials.
@@TheTumblerUniverse You can sub-print to sublimation paper and then press it directly to the 651. This fuses the print INTO the 651 PERMANENTLY and there's no need to use any sprays.
Wonder why when I print to 651, on my epson printer, the ink can just whipe right off??? am I missing something?
same

Did you also use a heat gun to dry it?
Would mod podge sealant work
What is the purpose of the krylon spray beforehand?
To change the surface tension of the vinyl it gave it a bit of grip. This allows the ink to have something to grab on to

Can you explain why you are using the Krylon Color master spray?
It gives the vinyl surface a coating that the ink can grab on to. With out it, the ink just beads up.
@@TheTumblerUniverse Thank you.

Hello, Does it have to be Krylon or will rustoleum 2x work?
Rustoleum works great 😊
@@TheTumblerUniverse thanks so much!
Does it have to be oracle or can it be any brand name
Oracal is the only brand I've tried but in sure it works the same with others of the same type.
I have only tried it with Oracal but I'm sure it'll work with any brand of the same type of vinyl.
I’m assuming this particular vinyl doesn’t have a carrier sheet?
Correct this is orcal 651 there is no carrier sheet for this type.
when i print on vinyl , ink isnt dry, im using canon inkjet
It takes a while. This is why I used the heat gun, it helps speed up the drying process.
Amazing. Great idea!
Is it possible to do this and then heat press it onto a shirt? Or would the ink melt off?
This is regular Oracal 651. I haven't tried it with HTV yet. I think the vinyl would melt
Hew you can do it on glitter HTV.
You can sublimate on HTV the glitter vinyl works best.... but that is also using sublimation ink and printing and the direct method of printing with ink jet printer
With glitter HTV you would be taking all the steps you do with sublimation rather than printing directly on the htv.
Whats the krylon spray for?
The Krylon is what gave the vinyl its printable surface grip. Without it, the ink just beads up.
So could I technically use that spray on normal adhesive sticker paper from online labels? And don’t you need heat to make the sub ink pop out?
is this waterproof after printing?
yes, so far so good. Been through the dishwasher and everything.
So why not just use Sublimation paper to transfer the image to the 651. Use a heat press and press @350°f for about 30 seconds

I was thinking the same thing..I was so confused
@@ashleygreen127 lol this was just for experimentation purposes. Just like the Inkjet printing on 651 experiment
Have you found a consistent way to quality print on the 651 ?
I have tried this multiple times but the ink just smears :/ any suggestions?

Try Siser Glitter
Do you have to clearcoat first? 2nd, Could you use solvent ink?
Yup I spray the clear coat first. I have not used solvent ink but it'd probably work very well.
@@TheTumblerUniverse thanks

iym413 651 better...you can’t use printable vinyl if you doing plastic cups
❤️

press temperature, press time as well as a few more that will save people tons on time and materials.
There is no press temp or time. This was just an experiment to see how it would come out if we printed directly on 651 with sub ink.
you don't have to treat 651 vinyl for sublimation
You do if you want colors to stay in front of vinyl and not all color on back sticky side. Trust I learn this the hard way.
I didn't sub on the vinyl. I simply printed directly to it.
