Public service announcement: run the sweep under hot water for a couple of minutes as this will soften the plastic and help with fine-trimming and fitting it under the door. Cleaning the shower glass before installing the sweep is also important.
Very helpful video on how to take off and put on - recommend you don’t rush off to buy one (and potentially get the size wrong) I found mine was in great condition, but just harboring some seriously yucky dirt. I took it off and cleaned it with shower cleaner spray and put it back - tada!
I love this video, fixing to do mine. I am also adding a bead inside/outside the door to seal the open of the piece so mildew does not get in. Texas girl tip
Thank you for this video. I have to do this and im stressing. This shower door is the same as mine, so I will give her a go. Thanks again . Appreciate you taking the time.
Thanks for the post. The doors swings out from left to right and meets a glass panel when closed. The leak is at right end of the door against the glass panel The "over flap" on the seal needs to go a little past the door glass.
i installed the new sweep. new sweep stays on the door fine, but now my door won't close. i think the problem is that I barely have a gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. and from looking at your video, you have a little bit of a gap, so that the bottom sweep can fit right in. do you have any tips?
Great video but their was a gap. 2 in fact- those two grout lines. My OCD would have me build up those two areas with some clear silicone to get them gap-free with the sweep.
I need help with this very thing. It seems HD only has one size of the plastic you used and I have to use something to fill it in. Can you tell me how to get smaller sizes?
This might be helpful in this video below if you go to the end he talks about a shim spacer that’s what you might need it sounds like from what I understand ruclips.net/video/t6rRFezSlOs/видео.html
I am glad for your advice, but I'm afraid that I was worried for your safety when you were using the hacksaw and craft knife in your lap. I think I would slice my fingers off! I suggest you show beginners like me a safer method.
Never use a dead blow or a hammer to put on a door sweep. I’ve been a Glazer for 25 years the weakest point of any temper glass is the corner. I had a customer take a hammer one time she had to go to the hospital with stitches.
@@robertedwards3528...I just hope nobody sees him put that sweep on with a mallet and think to themselves... well, I have a hammer... that's good enough.
Love how older how-to videos get right to the point. They are perfect
Thank you . Comments like this keep me motivated
after watching several other videos, and wasting a lot of time...I found this great video that is simple and right to the point... Thanks
Thank you so much for this video!! I was definitely holding my breath when you were using the saw and then the knife, lol!!
You are welcome. Thank you for your comment
THANK YOU! I had no idea I could pop that off and clean it - you have no idea how happy this makes me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Great tip on rounding the edges! Thank you
Short and sweet! Thank you! I was replacing mine, and realized I forgot which way to install the replacement. 😀
Good job rounding those corners. Like!
Thank you for this. It seemed simple enough to do, but a couple of your tips were very helpful.

Would you use this same method for a sliding door?
Great video - straight to the point!
Wish I had seen a video before struggling to replace my curved shower door seal. Secateurs worked great to cut it

Were you able to install with minimum gap? I am having the same problem.
Omg!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! I can do it myself now. Running to a hardware store. Mine is not used, my cat pealed off the silicone. Little punk 😄
Your the best! Love you! ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
Does deflectors go inside towards shower?

I replaced mine but the lip isn't allowing it to close. It is catching in the middle but it us on tight.
try to find different sweep model or trim it in the bottom
He made it looks so easy whereas I struggled to put it on. Kept coming off when I tried to put the whole thing onto the glass door.
You probably have wrong size sweep . It should be easy.
Legacy Handyman yes, you are right that I had the wrong size! ;-)
Yes I had to try 2 different brands
Do you know what I could use if I have a sliding door? Because water is filtering on the bottom of the sliding door...
Very helpful. Thank you my friend!

Silicone...
@@sgreeni try to find glass place, ask if they have right size . Silicone will look okay for a week then you will be at square one.
I think you are right. The mold/mildew came right back after I cleaned last time. I appreciate you!
Thank you so much for this video
Excellent presentation AB
Thanks for the tips, much appreciated. 👍👍👍👍
Thank you. Going to try today 💜
hi, where can I get the clear one?
Go to any glass shop they will sell you one. Or check out link in the description and you can get one on Amazon
Thank you, Legacy Handyman. 😋
mine has a metal sweep i took it off but the new plastic one does not fill the gap. how to move the door down?
Sounds like you need to reinstall metal trim back to the door . Home depot has plastic sweep for framed doors .
This might be helpful in this video below if you go to the end he talks about a shim spacer that’s what you might need it sounds like from what I understand

Cheers dude. Job done here.
Thanks.
how do I temporarily remove the door so I can clean the corner?
I would not recommend that. But if you absolutely have to do it you have to unbolt set screws that are holding bracket on the glass
@@LegacyHandyman I was hoping I could remove just the door without touching the bracket on the wall, just like a regular door.
I don't know if that is possible with those hinges .
@@LegacyHandyman okay Thanks!
@@matthewhyun1313 pleaselet me know if you were able to do it .

How About the sliden glass door 😢
Different system
Replaced the sweeper, but door hard to open now. HELP!
You need to seat trim all the way . Or raise door a little bit
I would not use the mallet. I have seen doors shatter days later from that process.
Thank you!!!
Thank you. I now know I can do this. Yeah
My shower is leaking there since there is nothing to stopping it from leaking. I will be grabbing a strip soon!
I can't find a glass sweep at 5/8" width 😩
Try your local glass shop.
good!
Right on! thank you for your comment.

That looked very difficult. Damn bro, use metal snips or hacksaw to cut that sweep before you cut your damn thumb off.
