    I don't understand why current arcades like arcade1up doesn't use these in their Mortal Kombat cabs. This is the joystick used in the original arcades and they're still available!

    Nice, its very rare to find videos talking about western joysticks like Happ or IL. I got myself an IL joystick several months ago for fighting games and it felt so good, to me it felt better than the Hori Hayabusa joystick I've been using for 3 years. The only problem though is finding a case to fit that behemoth. I just wish IL made their joysticks with smaller chasis, or at least maybe improve on some of the smaller faults of the stick.

    • @jesuszamora6949
      @jesuszamora6949 5 лет назад

      Yeah, I love me some western parts too, and that's really their only fault. They require too much space for a mass-produced unit. Thank GOD for Brook boards, since you can at least make your own stick.

    I use SANWA parts myself, though I recently got into Tekken after getting Tekken 2 and 3 finally working on my MAME and was thinking about getting a Korean lever to test out. Excited for it! I love arcade controls they make the games so much more fun to play especially fighters

    I just went to the Suozo Happ building outside of Chicago yesterday and picked up some buttons and sticks. I can confirm that Happ is using cherry switches. I put them in my MK2Cab and diagonals are easy

    Used IL for years in my cabinets and have to say Seimitsu LS-32 and Sanwa joysticks with modified actuator and 2lb tension spring can't be beat for fighter competition sticks with dead on accuracy.

      I think you are moving in the direction of the general crowd. Folks, be individuals, the IL Eurostick is a great stick used by legendary MAS arcade stick creators and in competitive gaming. Try to find the older off-white cherry microswitches to mod. They've since changed color and quite possibly quality. Also, the spring in the happ super will in fact fit into the IL and is a little softer in tension.

    • @boomerps2
      @boomerps2 3 года назад +2

      @@wallacegentry4085 Has nothing to do with following a crowd. It has to do with expanding and trying something different. If the IL feels better, use it. Informing the general public that theirs other products out there you may enjoy and deciding to go with said product doesn't mean your a lemming just "following the crowd". I own a Honda Accord, I guess I'm a follower.

      @@boomerps2 you are right each to their own . Personally i prefer either a namco ps1 stick ( just the actual stick ) i think the buttons and small case are shit . more then a sanwa , or these knock off Japanese sticks we had at arcades in Central London back in 1997 up to 2001 that were'nt sanwa's or seimitsu's . i dont know what they were maybe japanese clone sticks
      I like the IL stick 1000x more then a sanwa , the quicker return to neutral , the circular feel , the smaller distance / engage . feels much more nicer and enjoyable to play on over a sanwa for me
      i dont know why ive just never liked sanwa ,

      Good choice! You will notice a difference. The ILs have a definite high-quality feeling to them. Definitely a step up from Happ Ultimates. They're worth a few extra bucks. I have 2 that I pulled out of a 1993 Primal Rage cabinet that still work, though they're crazy loose and the texture is worn smooth. Thanks for watching! Glad the video helped.

      Red's my personal favorite for those type sticks, but most popular color was black back in the day, especially when there was colorful control panel overlay. I would say only you will know for sure once you get them in your hands and hold them up to your machine. I'm sure the right choice will jump out at you.

    Thanks for this video. I have an original HotRod SE joystick, and after switching to an X-Arcade Tankstick and swapping the default sticks to Happ Competitions, it’s still not as smooth as the HotRod. Very hard to consistently do Shoryukens quickly. So I’m switching to IL’s. Hopefully that will make the difference.

    • @tybeegames9635

      StreetFighter2010: Nothing beats a new IL! They're very tight and feel very smooth with just the right amount of tension. It's no wonder they were chosen for MK, SF & Tekken machines. I have a pair from a 1994 Primal Rage machine with original microswitches that still work, though they've lost their tightness. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @jesuszamora6949

    Your trouble with the Zippyy joystick might have more to do with the shit microswitches they come with. I have a Seimitsu LS-32 myself, and the switches they come with make diagonals super easy when in 8-way.
    The CA Calle joysticks, I've seen them at a local arcade parts supplier called Alva Amusement International. The company also puts out a stick in the style of the JLW, though unfortunately with a circle gate, so you need to get a JLW square gate if you want to use it as a 4-way.
    Tornado Terry, that dude's got a SWEET business. Only guy on eBay who won't try to hose you on the microswitches.

    • @tybeegames9635

      Everybody that tries Sanwa seems to love them. They are well-engineered and the top of the Japanese joystick market. IL is a solid choice though if you're going the Happ-style route (That would really be IL-style). They feel really well-engineered. Modern Happ Competitions are still good, especially once the interior surfaces have been rubbed a bit smooth. The main difference (being that they are in their dimensions identical) is just those components in constant motion and contact are made of more durable material (nylon) in the ILs.

      I have one! It is great for 4 way and many 8 way games. However, the shorter throw on 8 way more makes it harder to play fighters. That is my only gripe about them.

    Hey man, I have a dedicated Mortal Kombat 2 arcade that I need to replace the joysticks on, which one is the most similar to the original dedicated joysticks. I want it to feel smooth when rotating in a circular motion, like it did when it was first made. Which one of these would you recommend?

    I got an IL Eurostick for my Mame machine, both blue, and red. The red one seems to work okay, but the blue one slightly "bumps" if I move it all the way up, and in another direction, mainly up to down. Is this normal, or is something possibly wrong with the stick in that case?

    • @tybeegames9635
      @tybeegames9635  4 года назад

      I'm not sure, but from what I have seen about Sanwa, they would have a restrictor plate and might have a narrower joystick travel, probably click louder, but the spring tension would likely be similar.

      Thanks! Microswitches (Cherry Pushbutton Microswitches) can be replaced. Paradise Arcade shop and many other places have replacement parts but the joysticks are pretty inexpensive to begin with ($10 USD), so it might be worth it to replace the whole thing if you get to the point where you need to replace individual components besides microswitches (spring, shaft, grommet, actuator, etc), especially if the supplier you choose also charges for shipping. Ebay is also a good place to look for replacement parts.
