"whats your problem bro?" bro...olmar blames himself for this entire conflict. he's had multiple emotional breakdowns over it. and now he sees thorfinn, someone who has nothing to do with the conflict, taking 100 punches to the face from a beefy norse warrior in order to stop the fighting. he feels immense guilt and fears that thorfinn may die as a result of his actions. it's pretty obvious what his problem is.
The canute speech is real, he said that if your read the real history, but was in diferent context, and the point of canute is creat a paradise for the people who is the worst people, he try to be that "god" for the people whitaout "Love" in them, in the episode when canute talk with the priest canute said that, he will taken tha lives of the vikings, everyone with hate in their hearts and he will used them. I really want to specific how works vinland written but i don't understand english very well, i hope this comment will be useful jajaja
If you have reservations about the story I'd advise rewatching it again after some time passes. Just as I was watching this reaction (this being my 2nd time watching the series) I was literally typing this massive comment about some aspects I disliked/disagreed with until it all clicked for me on this 2nd watch and I realized I finally understood what makes everybody scream "peak".
30:36 Not sure this is exactly what Canute was saying. I interpreted it more as it is possible to create a paradise, but it is impossible to do so without sacrifice and great effort. Even more so if you want to save as many people as you can. Canute believes paradise is the antithesis to what God intended for humanity and that suffering is in our nature. Him declaring war on God is an act of rebellion denying the nature of humanity in the effort to save humanity. Could also read it as not all humans are deserving of paradise and Canute wishes to create a different type of paradise that all humans are deserving of. I really don't know which though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. All I do know is that the author cooked.
22:30 PEAKLAND SAGA🥹❤ The moment Thorfinn truly understood what his father said! This scene gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I watch it. Knut's ideas are expressed in a very philosophical and abstract way, so each person may interpret them differently. What is certain is that, rather than relying on the power of God as a king, he wants to unite the powers of humans and make the world a better place with their own hands. He also believes that some sacrifices are necessary to achieve this.
Finally, been waiting for the reaction to this peak speech that thorfinn does
Peak main character, peak development, peak crew, peak reactions 🔥
