For all you haters - this was made by a team of people who worked at dropbox. File are encrypted during transit. And no, this is not too good to be true.. www.reddit.com/r/editors/comments/17uczps/first_peek_at_blip_a_faster_way_to_share_large/
So a posting on Reddit is sufficient proof of trust?
Yes, thank you! This is what I was looking for!
this is the best value YT channel subscription - Thanks Jamie
Appreciate your work bruhh . Thanks for this ❤️
this is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing, its unbelievably kind of you
No problem 😊
This is awesome!
Sweet Thanks
Nice!!
Awesome! Thanks.
You're welcome!
Thanks a lot man 🔥
No problem 👍
Hey jamie, man can you do a seamless spin transition, the one that shows you a clock, then a wheel, and so on , thanks
😀 awesome
Hey good find, Jamie - wish I had found that and suggested it to you ( like in a messenger conversation ) . Glad you looked into it. I hope it stays free too.
From what I’ve read on Reddit they’re eventually going to have some sort of pay method unfortunately 🙁
Possibly a pay per use. They’re not sure.
Imo they will build it to get so a certain amount of users until/if it becomes lucrative and that’s when they’ll start pricing tiers… but then if they do that it just turns into what basically already exists out there. I hope they don’t go that direction.
But I hope it stays free too 💪🏽
P.s. thank you for the suggestion in messages :) I should have mentioned you.. I’m sorry I totally forgot. (I usually do when you help me out) Next time 💪🏽
@@JamieFenn That's okay, if they are all a big scam- everyone will blame you, and not me.
Hahaha that actually made me laugh out loud XD@@JimRobinson-colors
Thank you. I can't believe you have gotten haters on something so helpful.
Im at the point where no matter what I post there's a hater hahaha. Whatever XD
windows still is "request early access"
The beta release will be available by 1st half of 2024
Is it a nearby type or if I want to share my data with my friend who worked outside of my town. does it work??
Yea either works!
Do we have any idea who is behind this system and whether there’s any protection against snooping during the transfer? Is it secure from others on this network pushing malware onto my computer? When something sounds too good to be true, all too often it is.
Encrypt the files before sending them
Nothing is ever free. Installing their software on a computer probably has consequences.
This was made by a team of people who worked and met at dropbox. (See pinned comment)
And I got this from the site. "Blip is designed with security in mind. It doesn’t use insecure web links. The things you share are sent directly to the person you choose, without being uploaded to a website somewhere.
Files you send are encrypted in transit, to protect from nosy neighbours."
@@xavicariteu They're encrypted in transit.
@@JamieFenn Thank you for the clarification. Very interesting. I appreciate you posting the info about the service.
Thanks
No problem!
💥💥💥WOW WOW WOW This is an extremely useful feature for moving frames to the desired location.
Definitely helps sending large files for sure
cool
Hi sir literally this is the bad phase of my life 😣plz help me . I am following your each video but I am just a beginning to davinci resolve. So plz help me where to begin 🤦how to start and I WANT TO BE PROFESSIONAL IN THIS WITHIN THIS YEAR SO PLZ ME 🙏.
Well, it's good to know another option, but this look like a P2P as like as Resilio Sync. It's not fair comparing Cloud storage with P2P that doesn't store anything, just connect two users with a protocol.
Yes! Resilio is the best!
I compared cloud storage and other options. I just simply made this video because it was the easiest way I found. Thanks for the comment though!
Please upload video on body shadow in video on background
Not implemented for window yet - you can subscribe for Early Access - thats it...!
It is strange, that you have to install some stuff on your computer. Why they don’t let me transfer files via browser, without sniffing my computer?
Blip is designed with security in mind. It doesn’t use insecure web links. The things you share are sent directly to the person you choose, without being uploaded to a website somewhere.
Files you send are encrypted in transit, to protect from nosy neighbours.
use sendanywhere bro
It’s a lot faster through a program then through a browser, and you’re getting more tracked through browsers than programs
@@JamieFenn, It occurs to me reading this now (and I didn't come here to be a troll) that you don't know what they are doing, you are going by what a web site says. I have to agree with the anonymous Adam, that for sensitive stuff, that might not be a great idea.
Sensitive is subjective. @TaleSlinger
Hi! Nice tip! Thank you! Does it work on windows too?
Not yet but soon!
🤘🙏
Amazing! Thank you, brother! 🙏🏽👊🏽😁
🙌
❤❤
yup, for sure download unknown software, give your email address and send files without really knowing who gets them and who can see them. What could go wrong?
How do you send large files?
NAS
@@JamieFenn
It's really easy to replicate Blip
All you need is a domain name and free zero conf VPN (eg. Tailscale, Twingate, etc)
Setup a shared folder on 1st PC and use VPN to access it from another PC
@@JamieFenn, I'm kind of a fan of yours. I use Resilio. Even though I have the paid version, I still use the free version all the time. It was developed by the team that invented BitTorrent 20+ years ago, and uses a variation o that protocol. Lots of benefits.
Hi there, I’m one of the creators of Blip. This is a very reasonable concern as we’re just starting out and aren’t well known. But we are committed to building Blip as a tool for creatives and as such have never planned to mine and sell your data to advertisers, AI companies, or any kind of third party actor. Your files go only to the person you send them to. Our goal is to provide a great tool and compelling-enough premium features on top of it that people are willing to pay for.
Signed up in November. Great app. They still don't have a Windows version though, so that'll be a drawback for some people.
Some?!
So Jamie how do they support the infrastructure to allow this to happen for free to users? Is it Ads based. It does make me pause and ask a bunch of questions. If I were a state actor I would definitely propose an idea like this and fund it to tempt targets that had secrets to keep to use it. I would then hold the keys to both actors and I would have no need for decoding encrypted data. They just gave me everything I needed. However those wanting to transfer cat dog videos could go on their merry way playing their part to support my service as legitimate and it is to them... just asking. I will check it out.
Good quesiton. Read the reddit link I pinned under this video as it will answer a lot of your quesitons.
what's in it for BLIP?
Hi, I’m one of the creators of Blip. We’re providing a free utility to the creative community. Additionally, we plan on introducing premium features and benefits for the more demanding customers.
@@tomazsh its a bloody good app, I can't believe it didn't exist until 2024...
well done!!
@@tomazsh its a great app, I can't believe something like this didn't exist before 2024......well done!
Many people will understandably feel uncomfortable having to download and install an app. More importantly a lot of clients will be working on corporate laptopts which will have restrictions precisely so they can't install things without approval. This might be a great little tool for peer to peer, but I wouldn't count on it for client delivery or corporate work.
I've never had anyone be worried. People download dropbox no problem. But hey I just made this video because this is what I use and trust. Plus, Blip was made from people at dropbox so there's some trust built there.
Afater some time the service will start working on a subscription basis...
I guess use it while you can!
Jamie, many thanks for the info. But note, if you need to enter your personal information, the application is NOT free.
You put more personal info in apps and websites than you do for putting in your email on this website. If you really want, just use a secondary email if you're that worried.
Sooo. It’s a Peer to peer transfer protocol? So why not just torrent? That’s exactly what they’re made for. Make a torrent client, send the link to person, they pull torrent from your computer. Without having to have sus software installed.
Sounds complicated to the average user. And it's not sus. Ex dropbox employees made this.
okay, but what's the catch? How are they making money off this? There's always an angle and I'd like to know what that angle is.
Maybe they're not making money right now, so use it while you can lol.
Hi, I’m one of the creators of Blip, just chiming in. We’re looking to introduce professional features on top of Blip to make it even more useful as a transfer tool. You’ll be able to pay for those features, allowing us to support development of Blip.
@@tomazshoh oki, cool. Thanks for responding to a random comment that doesn't have any likes or anything. I appreciate that. What kind of additional tools do you have in mind?
@@kukukachu We want to make Blip into the ultimate way to send files to yourself and to others. So, whatever we learn people would need to get the job done. There’s some good comments under this video already, but obviously, we’re always open to feedback :)
its not on windows
Not yet
Try Send Anywhere
I’m not gonna lie, these sounds sus
Its not.
As of now Blip is free but they're soon going to release the pricing model.
There are only two people behind Blip but it's surprisingly stable
came here to say the same. not saying it's a sus app, but rather given the new business models, this will become a paid service in no time, just like all the other apps preceding it
@@JamieFenn source?
I'm not a hater but for the sake of your followers please never go clickbait. If you review a product or service please put it in the title and description, and be straightforward about it. I like your content and find a lot of useful information in your videos but I have a policy to avoid creators using clickbait titles.
How is this clickbate?
@@JamieFenn clickbait by definition is the practice of writing sensationalized headlines in order to attract clicks. In this case, you hype it up without actually telling us what it is. You need to watch the video to figure out. No big deal tho, I still enjoy your insightful videos.
well i don't think this is ac clickbate video
I mean Im pretty sure this title is directly and straight to the point. Couldn't have been more clear lol
No way this if free forever. But thanks, this is very useful.
Fingers crossed
