Glad to see Astro on this list. Their choreo is quite different because of the mix of styles and it is a joy to watch. Their footwork, synchronization and stamina are no joke! And they have Rocky, who imo is one of the best dancers in the industry.
I have so much admiration and respect for Irene & Seulgi for thoroughly learning the choreography of Naughty. Their hard work is no joke. They studied tutting and voguing for months to be able to master the choreo. When you see them perform it, they make it look so easy, and you just get inspired to try doing it. That just shows how incredibly skilled they are. Can confirm, tried learning only a minute and a half of Naughty and cried (mostly cuz I hit my finger on my ceiling and ripped my nail off). It's so painfully FAST. The opening moves on the chorus mixed with the foot movements are really fucking confusing for the brain... Your feet are stepping to one rhythm and your hands are tutting to a different rhythm AND you have to keep your angles clean.
I absolutely hope so. If I recall correctly, LOONA's Butterfly wasn't even NOMINATED for any dance awards in 2019 (utter joke they didn't win) so I'm hoping this year they'll use their senses to nominate Naughty
@So What true they don't show talents anymore I'm not saying other groups don't have talents but how about the others who deserves more you know. Usually they focus more on popularity now a days. You know what I mean hahaha. (And to all who might see this comment I'm not downgrading other groups) heheh
@So What Best dance doesn’t mean hardest, more iconic and well know. But i do think naughty deserves the award, plus if it’s popularity based they still have a high chance if winning since they are popular
only irene can do perfect 90-degree angles on her arms, even seulgi finds it difficult (i still love her tho) it's like Irene's joints are made of jelly.
Really happy to see Boa get the respect and praise she deserves. She's been such a powerhouse in the kpop industry consistently since her debut. It's refreshing to see her being mixed in with current idols/groups that have such a heavy focus on choreo that way newer kpop fans can find her and hopefully check out her incredible body of work.
In fact, the level of difficulty of dance depends on their learning and expression capability, but the level of performance depends on how carefully they prepare. Red Velvet practiced for five months from the basics for the naughty stage. The five-month preparation is a welcome investment for some passionate dance lovers. But for top stars like Red Velvet, it's a huge loss for the company to invest half year of the seven-year contract time for one performance. Nevertheless, showing this stage to the world is proof that SM loves 'Value Beyond Business'. And to make it a reality, Sm gave Red Velvet a lot of pressure, and they showed unimaginable diligence to carry out the task that were entrusted to them. With the unrealistic dance, they prepared the 'monster' live stage at the same time, produced two individual dance videos and real variety show contents, and recorded one album at the same time. They even filmed another choreography video on variety shows. They were trying to do all this in a month, so they had to postpone the release of the album for a month because they were running out of time.
mmmh i wouldnt necesserly called it time wasted tho. wendy was and still is recovering, so they used the 'down time' to learn a new style and master it :) its the only thing they could have done in 2020 tbh
@@pennymikk what he meant is.. instead of using 5 months.. sm can actually release something within shorter period.. but sm invests more to show the quality they have stored
THIS RIGHT HERE MY FRIEND. Finally someone gets it. People constantly crucify SM for being a “cold-blooded business” and all this and that, I’m not here to pretend that SM is a saint that does no wrong, but I have the utmost respect for them to consistently invest in their idols and trainees in terms of proper skill development. I’m just gonna point this out cuz I don’t care it must be said, the other big companies like YG JYP or even Big Hit don’t invest in proper vocal trainings for their idols or constantly pushing them for further improvement. It’s no secret more than of the most skilled vocalists in Kpop come/came from SM. Music quality wise SM has always been way too ahead of the game, they play with so many new experimental sounds instead of following the trends. When it comes to dance and choreography, of course 99% of Kpop is like a massive dance competition so it’s harder to say which company has the strongest dancers, but the fact that SM gave Seulgi and Irene 5 months just to learn and master this tutting dancing style, really means that they put all their investments into developing their idols’ skills and thus developing top-notch music quality.
@@ismailabdhakim3704 but again, the group had to wait for wendy to recover, so IMO its not time wasted, as i explained above. i understand what they mean and i simply dont agree :)
@@hakasims sure you’re partially right, but who puts all their investments into properly developing their idols’ skills like SM does? You gotta remember not every SM idols were all skilled from the very beginning. Take Taemin for the example. As a singer, he was the weakest vocalist in SHINee during debut days, but he has improved over time to the point he’s the lead vocalist of SHINee and an established soloist now. If SM didn’t provide the resources and trainings needed, I don’t think Taemin would’ve been this developed as a vocalist that we know now.
is no one gonna talk about how complex and clean loona's butterfly is? fun fact the special choreographer specializes in contemporary dance, which is why it looks much more different than other choreos and very artistic
the 1theK video in their stage outfits is even better than the dance practice for this reason IMO. the bridge especially looks much cleaner. if only there were a non-mirrored version :/
Also uses alot of core muscle and floorworks. Before the satisfying cannon (after the 1st pre-chorus) It is not easy to stand up in that position while on the ground. So it's really hard for me.
"In my opinion hands down the best female dancer in kpop" Honestly. There are so many wonderful dancers in kpop but only a few, including BoA, have absolutely blown me away. She just moves so effortlessly. It makes me happy to see her recognized, she's one of the originals and still at the top.
@Gretel I see lots of people praising BoA's dancing abilities and I agree that she is really good, but I haven't seen many videos of her dancing, could you recommend me some dancing videos from her ?
@@test-ni7mn watch bad drive from her tour in Japan, that choreography blows me away every single damn time I watch her do it, then there's Moto which is straight up just hip hop/street dancing rolled into one, and she use to sing live while performing with a handheld mic not an in ear mic, the other really complicated dance I've found from BoA is only one and one shot two shot, she basically glides across the stage in those dances, also the start of Woman, just watch and you'll be surprised.
I started learning the Naughty choreo and thought that even though I haven't really done tutting (but instead a lot of other dance styles), I thought that it would be possible at least after a while... oh how wrong I was. The hand movements are difficult to memorize, but even more importantly, THE ANGLES. It's so difficult to make the movements sharp, on beat and also clean so that my hands are always in exactly the right position (othervice it would look absolutely terrible). I practice a part and think I got it, then check it from the mirror and notice that my hands look awful and not even near the perfect sharp angle...
I m also finger tut learner. I would suggest to learn some basics first from Yt itself. Then it would be so easy. And break everything in small parts and be consistent
Butterfly by LOONA is one of the K-pop songs and coreographies that I like the most. Well, can you talk about Dreamcatcher and Gfriend dances as a dancer, please? Some people (including me) say that their coreographies are actually very difficult, but I want to see your point of view and opinion about it. I would like to see a dancer talking about their dances.
Well, idk about dreamcatcher but gfriend’s choreos are quite difficult for me (not all songs though) probably because of different dancing style (my specialty is more like summer rain & fever). I have learned many of their dances before and the difficult part is not learning the movements but executing the dance with the exact sharpness just like the girls did and the energy required to pull of those dances. Not to mention the amount of spinning, jumping, etc. The amount of stamina they have is unbelievable. But yea, for those who are experienced in gfriend’s dance style probably don’t think their choreos are difficult.
Butterfly is one of the only choreos here that is ACTUALLY “hard.” I’m not so sure about it being hard, because the proper word to describe it is _intricate._ Intricate and difficult are very different things. I can see it being hard for someone who can only learn in counts (like this person, clearly) but a lot of us don’t do that
MY QUEEN, BOA. I'm so happy someone finally included her in a dance compilation. Most of her choreo is just ridiculous because she's so clean, precise, and powerful
BoAs been dancing for 20+ years. Over 2/3 of her life she’s been doing it. I know a lot of the newer people overshadow her because she just kinda does what she wants and doesn’t try the flashiest stuff but she’s always been amazing
Girl you don’t know how happy I am to see someone else say that Boa is the best female dancer kpop. I feel like everyone forgets her and kahi when making ranks.
No one forgets her I think people forget Kahi MUCH MORE BoA is from the 1 st gen so ofc people might miss her but for her to be so old yet so significant is a huge thing it tells you how amazing of an artist she is. Kahi on the other hand... People don't even know her now which is just sad
About the other female dancers who are great, I think Hyoyeon is definitely one. She even danced as BoA's shadow in a concert when she was just a trainee.
@@erieriizo I'm so late but it's BoA's 2005 MKMF stage if you hadn't seen it yet! There's a part where BoA disappears behind a curtain and dances and the person behind the curtain is actually Hyoyeon. When you know it's her you can really tell. I’m honestly very happy you put more recent groups like txt in there, and Boa getting recognized! I love Astro and so many others you have in this video so I’m really happy they’re getting recognized

bighit labels artists love jumping so much, it's almost always in their choreos lmfao as for pole dancing, yuju mentioned that it's not just arm strength. you also have to build up your core strength because you have to place your weight perfectly so you won't strain any part of your body. in fact, yuju emphasized on core more than arm edit: i just deduced the reason on why the core strength is important to build up in pole dancing lol because, for me, if i imagine myself doing it, I can't really rely solely on my arms and legs. I'm not a dancer, but I know what will happen if I do that. I might strain or even break my bones lmao so i have to improve my balance and distribute my weight perfectly throughout the body. and when i imagine myself doing pole dancing, I can imagine myself using much of my core strength to hold on to the pole, rather than relying on arm muscles. but i have poor core strength that's why i can't really do any exercises that even comes close to pole dancing or the basics.
I'm a pole dancer, and yes core strength IS A MUST, honestly all your body has to have strength but the thing that actually keeps it all together is the core, always
astros choreos are like wtf. like crazy sexy cool always amazed me and all their cute concept choreos are hell but they still have to look so happy doing them.
I’m so glad txt got the recognition they deserve. And the fact that crown was their debut shows how much skill they have. They already have the teamwork that usually takes years to build up and their skill is just on another level. Truly amazing
It's funny how every comeback, ASTRO's choreo (according to them) gets harder than the previous ones. Kings I think. And ooh that triple spinning guy is Rocky if any anybody's curious
That choreography with heelys looks scary af. I were to do this live, I feel like I'll just slide off, loose control or straight up slide out of the stage and fall face first on the cameraman.
Honestly I'm surprised nobody is really talking about What U in the comments. The choreography on the surface isn't as complex as some of the other choreographies here, but the footwork creates a lot of difficulty. It's so hard to move around normally with the wheels in, just tip-toeing everywhere (I own a pair and I still have yet to learn how to zoom around in them as I also enjoy living) The choreography for the bridge would maybe never have been as satisfying as it is if one of the members had been even a split second too early or too late in moving backwards, and I just think it's such an impressive choreography. I hope another choreographer incorporates an element into like heelys into a future choreography. Rip Speed tbh, they seriously got robbed
@@undercoverhey6914 Speed in general really didn't get the attention they deserved, whether that was because of the market trends while they were active or a lack of promotion is something I'm not sure of. But their choreographies were so interesting and What U really showcased their skill in making unique choreography elements work. It's always so fun to watch and it's one of my favorites too! Even though they disbanded already and they're not often spoken of, I have hope that What U's choreography might get more attention.

boa has been setting the bar for dance in kpop for 20 years! seriously, though, she had hard choreo years before it was a thing. glad to see her included here.
I love how casually you worded all your comments, it felt very easily understandable and accessible for less experienced dancers like me! Thank youuuuu
Im glad BoA is in here -love the Only One chore- sometimes I'll go back and watch her choreo from debut or back when she was just a little kid and damn her choreos are always so damn hard, even if shes not doing "anything" there is so much bouncing (if you ever watch her debut performances, just watch how much her hair bounces its kinda adorable but a tell at how much shes actually moving) I honestly dont think there is a female dancer anywhere near BoA's level
I have a friend who's a massive Kpop fan, but, when I mentioned Boa, he said he'd never heard of her! I really can't imagine being into current gen idols and NOT knowing the OGs like BoA, or even further back like S.E.S., Fin.K.L., or H.O.T.! There would be no Kpop of today without these people.
Early BoA had really exhausting choreographies but technically they weren't really difficult, but with the years they became less exhaustive and more challenging. For example, No.1 vs Only One, No.1 is really tiring but remains fairly simple and easy to learn, but Only One is really difficult to pull off
I think the only idol that I can think that is even close to BoAs level of dance is probably ironically Hyoyeon (I say ironically since they’re at the same label and Hyoyeon was a shadow dancer for her)
I have a suggestion!! I don't know if it's specially hard for a dancer (since I'm not a dancer myself) but I think you should check out Chungha's Stay Tonight dance practice (if you haven't yet). I think it's a really cool choreography which includes voguing, wacking and a little bit of tutting, also Chungha's an amazing dancer! I really hope to see a 3rd part because you give actual arguments unlike other "hardest kpop choreographies" videos I've seen 🥰👌
I love love LOVE Stay Tonight, but I don't think it is hard enough for one of these videos :3 it has elements of vogue and waacking, but it never really challenges itself to do any of the really hard moves, and while it's definitely not easy, it's also not too difficult to pull off. Chungha is an amazing dancer, but I don't think any of her singles are god-tier choreo-wise. All of them require more skill than the average gg choreo for sure, but not god-tier imo.
In my opinion, i think Chungha is one of the best female dancers in k-pop. I think she is is so so so so talented, definitely check out play, snapping, stay tonight and gotta go choreographies. Other female artistis i think really highly of are Momo from Twice and Lisa

With BOA you can Really see how GREAT BASIC dance skills DOES really Make a dancer. I've been fighting bc of this with a lot of people.. those basic steps, moves, skills are THE foundation you need to BE building youre skills on to. There are people saying how these certain idols are the best dancers from k-pop, because they have contemporary training as their "base". YES, they CAN be good dancers, but sometimes having to being trained to BE a contemporary dancer, can even be a disadvantage. They really have nothing to do with each other. One really good aspect of being trained like that is that it does give you flexebility, wich then can be used in every genre of dance/music, but that alone doesnt Make you "better than anyone else." I just HATE seein these comments... JUST AS AN EXAMPLE, like many Others, J-hope hasnt had any contemporary training, but still somehow he seems to BE nailing every genre he puts his mind into. WHY?? Because of the effort he has put into his "BASIC's" There are SO many GOOD and GREAT dancers in K-pop, but BOA was and still is Truly Amazing!😏

ive been a dancer for 13 years (im 16) and have won multiple awards at dance competitions and scholarships but if i had to learn crown, i would just start bawling.
I'd love one of these find choreographies that are great for solo dancers! Some are great but you need the team and they just won't work solo. A list of best/most impressive dances that you could learn to do solo.
Yes BOA getting that recognition queen, and many of these dances are very difficult and these artist are so talenteddd (but I still wanna live though xD)
I’m not a dancer, but here’s some choreo suggestions that I want an expert opinion on because they look difficult to me: -Getting closer (SVT) (Do I really need to explain?) -Love whisper (Gfriend) (Footwork) -Sunrise (Gfriend) (Gorgeous) -Baby (Astro) (Quite a lot of jumping) -Apple (Gfriend) (includes angles, tutting, etc) Thanks if you check these choreos out :)
Baby is definitely hard! Same as Hide and Seek where you need to have lots of energy and smile a lot even when you feel like you're dying. I went to a workshop for it and even only learning the chorus I was exhausted. I don't know how Astro gets through dancing their full songs 😅
@chijeu・゚ this is real tho, I'm in love with gfriend choreos and I like dancing to their songs for fun. what makes things difficult I guess is when you do the choreo as a group and reach the level of synchronicity the group have because seriously, that's not easy. glass bead, me gustas tu, love whisper, rough, tftmn and sunrise are all good for exercise hehe
I seriously loved the part 1. I just love the way dancers can break down k-pop dances, and I was so excited to see that you made a second video. Did not disappoint! I hope you could continue on with this series! As for any dancer who can come close to BoA, do you think Hyoyeon of SNSD could match her? I saw a dancing analysis that put Hyoyeon as one of the best female dancers of all time, but I'm curious about your opinion.
I think Hyoyeon is the only female dancer in Kpop who can come close to BoA, or even surpass her. Both of them are super versatille. They can hit hard when it needs to be hard, can be sharp and powerful, can be fluid and subtle when needed to, can lock, pop, and have a great musicality. Their body control is amazing and their experience make them even better at executing different styles of dance. Don't get me wrong, I think newer dancers like Chungha, Seungyeon, Momo, Lisa and Chaeyeon are amazing too. But I always find little things I don't like about their dancing, like Chungha's weak pops/locks and her overly-straight posture, Momo's overdancing, Lisa's sometimes torso stiffness and tension, Chaeyeon's tendency to forget details when she tries to exaggerate a certain part of her body,.. For Hyoyeon and BoA, I just can't find a single weakness.

Then comment about that, you can't exactly control how and what people comment. The dancers do deserve the applaud tho.
And ofc props to her for analyzing.

Naughty and Crown looks like a dance that makes you want to cry whilst in the middle of the learning process.
Respect.
Edit: basically, rent was due.
I tried to learn both dances. Can confirm, cried multiple times lmao
RIGHT! That’s exactly what I said. I was about to cry just looking at them.

Well said my friend
mmmh i wouldnt necesserly called it time wasted tho. wendy was and still is recovering, so they used the 'down time' to learn a new style and master it :) its the only thing they could have done in 2020 tbh

@@hakasims so what? lol why so salty
Id argue Hyoyeon is up there as well, of course thats given she was mentored under Boa herself

Irene & Seulgi - Naughty is literally one of the most difficult to execute choreography! Omg! I’m soo proud of them!
You literally need to be a robot to do that but they still slayin it

bighit labels artists love jumping so much, it's almost always in their choreos lmfao
as for pole dancing, yuju mentioned that it's not just arm strength. you also have to build up your core strength because you have to place your weight perfectly so you won't strain any part of your body. in fact, yuju emphasized on core more than arm
edit: i just deduced the reason on why the core strength is important to build up in pole dancing lol because, for me, if i imagine myself doing it, I can't really rely solely on my arms and legs.

It's funny how every comeback, ASTRO's choreo (according to them) gets harder than the previous ones. Kings I think. And ooh that triple spinning guy is Rocky if any anybody's curious
I agree BoA is untouchable. I saw her Eien video and was blown away how incredibly fluid and effortlessly she dances.
That choreography with heelys looks scary af. I were to do this live, I feel like I'll just slide off, loose control or straight up slide out of the stage and fall face first on the cameraman.
YESS Boa "Only One" deserves to be talked about so much more. I never get tired of watching her moves in this video, she is just so good
Honestly I'm surprised nobody is really talking about What U in the comments. The choreography on the surface isn't as complex as some of the other choreographies here, but the footwork creates a lot of difficulty. It's so hard to move around normally with the wheels in, just tip-toeing everywhere (I own a pair and I still have yet to learn how to zoom around in them as I also enjoy living)
The choreography for the bridge would maybe never have been as satisfying as it is if one of the members had been even a split second too early or too late in moving backwards, and I just think it's such an impressive choreography. I hope another choreographer incorporates an element into like heelys into a future choreography.

For example, No.1 vs Only One, No.1 is really tiring but remains fairly simple and easy to learn, but Only One is really difficult to pull off
I think the only idol that I can think that is even close to BoAs level of dance is probably ironically Hyoyeon (I say ironically since they’re at the same label and Hyoyeon was a shadow dancer for her)
Irene and Seulgi's Naughty is the hardest!!!!

Stay Tonight's choreography is beautifully made it ~
I love love LOVE Stay Tonight, but I don't think it is hard enough for one of these videos :3 it has elements of vogue and waacking, but it never really challenges itself to do any of the really hard moves, and while it's definitely not easy, it's also not too difficult to pull off.
Chungha is an amazing dancer, but I don't think any of her singles are god-tier choreo-wise. All of them require more skill than the average gg choreo for sure, but not god-tier imo.

I’m not a dancer, but here’s some choreo suggestions that I want an expert opinion on because they look difficult to me:
-Getting closer (SVT) (Do I really need to explain?)
-Love whisper (Gfriend) (Footwork)
-Sunrise (Gfriend) (Gorgeous)
-Baby (Astro) (Quite a lot of jumping)
-Apple (Gfriend) (includes angles, tutting, etc)
Thanks if you check these choreos out :)
Apple is actually fair easy, most parts of the choreo are easy, but some parts are my dead. (The intro)
Baby is definitely hard! Same as Hide and Seek where you need to have lots of energy and smile a lot even when you feel like you're dying. I went to a workshop for it and even only learning the chorus I was exhausted. I don't know how Astro gets through dancing their full songs 😅
Seventeen's Getting Closer legit feels like a dance competition choreo 😅
@chijeu・゚ this is real tho, I'm in love with gfriend choreos and I like dancing to their songs for fun. what makes things difficult I guess is when you do the choreo as a group and reach the level of synchronicity the group have because seriously, that's not easy. glass bead, me gustas tu, love whisper, rough, tftmn and sunrise are all good for exercise hehe
Getting closer is no joke 😰
The fact that hide & seek is actually Astro’s debut song so it was their FIRST ever choreography 😌🙌🏻 these kid r amazing
Txt crown was debut song too
