still finding late season oysters and still trying to find the courage to eat them. i find it hard to eat anything without getting confirmation from someone who already has
Great place to get out and walk the dogs, and do alittle 🍄 hunting, wish people would pick up after there dogs tho, pretty sad the amount on the trails..
Another great video. I had a nice Christmas eve day foray and found a few pounds of golden chants, a few pounds of hedgehogs and a small grip of winter chanterelles. They went well with our prime rib Christmas dinner.
Thanks for identifying all of these mushrooms. I went out to Banner Forest on Friday and was able to gather a good amount of Yellow Feet. It was my first time trying these mushrooms, but they were excellent! Sauteed them and had with scrambled eggs and I'm definitely going to search for more...thanks again for these videos 🥰
Just watched your latest. What a great job you do in describing and identifying so many mushrooms! I've been doing this since I was at Evergreen back in the 70s (and yes I know those guys) but never cease to keep learning more. We just gathered some big hedgehogs yesterday down here on the south coast of Oregon where we live. Damn near tropical lately! I've always overlooked the winter chanterelle but will be going out in the next few days to see what we can find. Thanks for what you do!
Thank you for these vids. Great that u repeat info and talk about immediate surroundings.pls continue to identify wood hosts too! I’ve been enjoying my Mushroom Wonderland mug for the past month or so! Happy new year to u and your family!
I ended the shroom season cause i wanted to. Do go out in the woods and find edibles, but do not collect them. Yesterday i was walking some of my places. Tons of Clitocybe nebularis, good amounts of Pleurotus ostreatus and Tricholoma terreum. Paralepista flaccida and Lepista nuda are also present. In other words, if one wants to collect for the table, there are good choices. My location is in North-eastern Bulgaria very close to the shore.
I picked a bunch of hedgehogs and a single matsutake on Christmas eve here in western Oregon. Also, when my dog was a puppy, she would eat the elfin saddles and she never got sick, I still won't try one though.
If its gonna be the end of the season, I guess its going with a bang lol Last week I harvested the most oysters ever in my life. Of course, zero gear so it was a full hat and jacket lol I could have easily filled a couple 5 gallon buckets off a couple trees. Had a nice stir fry and still filled the dehydrator 1 1/2 times :) Should have added, wasn't even when I was walking the woods or White River. It was smack in the middle of the Frisbee golf course lol
I found a wonderful example of a black elfin saddle in my Aunt and Uncle's back yard at our Christmas gathering. It's a shame I can't post pictures to comments on RUclips because I'd love to share the image and see if my identification was correct.
I love the local mushroom ID groups I've found on Facebook. Really the main reason I even look at Facebook! The tightly moderated ones are FANTASTIC for learning and people post for IDs all the time. I recommend sticking to the ones that require good photos to ID and who boot people for lazy (potentially dangerous) commenting.
@@mushroomwonderland1 yeah, my daughter, who lives out that way told me that they were going to thin or do whatever they do in the name of root rot. I hope they don’t!
18:46 is something around Clavulina coralloides. At least, that's what I would say here in Europe. The Clavulinas grow late in the autumn and are often parasitised by Helminthosphaeria clavariarum, that's the blackening.
Do you think removing edible mushrooms from the woods could have a negative impact in terms of the food source being removed for whatever animals might eat them, and the nutrients being removed from the system?
I found a beautiful cluster of mushrooms the other day and have been searching the internet to try and identify it do you have a way I could send you a picture so I could get your opinion
I like how you’re happy to see the same mushrooms and still take the time to admire/talk about them 😊
Same, dude. Same.
Some might say you find an describe the same ones over n over but to me as a beginner it drills in your mind so they are unforgettable. Thanks Aaron
its perfect for me as it shoes which ones stay and adapt to the various weather conditions throughout the different seasons.
Yes we need drill so we don't eat the wrong ones
Exactly!
After this awesome hunt I think I could identify Winter Chanterelle. Definitely liking this channel.
Saw your video this morning, went out and found a mega patch of yellowfoot this afternoon! Thanks so much for what you are doing!
Wow... Crazy. It's like they all call to you. Good find!!! And I am from or close to Mendocino Ca.
Beautiful mushrooms. Yum
Still finding oysters in north central Pennsylvania....our weather way above normal!!
Yep! Finding beautiful flushes of Blewit mushrooms (Clitocybe Nuda) up N. Cal. Great end of season episode.
still finding late season oysters and still trying to find the courage to eat them. i find it hard to eat anything without getting confirmation from someone who already has
We have been eating so many of these!!! And I dried about 5 lbs. I personally prefer them to regular oysters.
thanks for the great content! i can't believe how many different types of mushrooms are growing in that one patch of woods.

My latest hobby, mushroom hunting in the PNW (W. Olympia). Totally inspired by you. Makes my daily walks so much more fun.

Awesome! Thanks for the comment
Paul Stamets' story about eating Panther Caps with his friend was hilarious/crazy
Keep up the good work...
Happy you did one on Banner!

I hope you can visit some day, or a forest somewhere else like this. Near where Aaron lives is one of the most beautiful rainforests...
Thanks for the vid 👍

we get this other large brown or grren jelly fungus with teeth growing like mad this year up on the vancouver island
@ 30:18 I'm surprised that you don't cut the bottoms of the stems before you put the mushrooms in your bag. Lots of sticks in there too!
Trail flare, gives a little spice 😅
Love it!
Come down to bay area Cali. Our season just started!
Thank you!!!
a guy down here in Mendocino loves helvella , cooks them well and says they are great in grilled cheese
is anyone buying turkey tail? i am collecting a nice lot and there are quite a few around right now on the vancouver island

The second one , mycena robusta, looks a lot like liberty caps,
I heard that they’re getting ready to cut down a whole bunch of the banner forest, using the usual excuse of root rot
Really? I haven't heard tht. I'm going to look into it. I met the new steward and I'll try to reach out.

Ear pick fungus. Cool

I would suggest an identification forum on Facebook🍄❤️
I desperately wish I lived somewhere I could get to old growth forests
I can recommend you to this psych specialist where I get my stuffs from
@karentripz
She on instxgram
They got great psychxdelic products
The fall oyster has an off putting flavor to me
Try marinating and dehydrating for mushroom jerky
Yeah they're pretty disgusting mushrooms. It also sucks carrying out a 50lb sack of them and they dry out to 3oz or less
@@christopherm9494aaww I love them! They were great in beef stew and mushroom jerky. If you find any send them my way 😉
