@@3DPrintscape Have actually given up tbh, at least for a while. I've got an Ender 5 that wouldn't print no matter how much bed levelling I did, so thought I'd get a CR Touch. Is the mesh that is created/saved used by the BLtouch when the printer is printing to adjust the Z position? Is there a setting somewhere or some Gcode required to be inserted to make use of the saved mesh? The Gcode I added for the 9 point mesh runs everytime at the start of every print. I need a video on how the BLtouch works and how to use it. All the videos only show how to install it. Great video by the way.
Hi. The mesh does get saved to eeprom, or the sd card, and just hitting save setting like you would do when setting the z offset will save them. That said, i still run the g29 command at the start of each print to get a new reading.
@@3DPrintscape Does the firmware automatically use the stored mesh data to adjust the Z offset when printing or is there a required Gcode to enable it?

With this plugin, does it save the new mesh to EEPROM automatically so I don't have to do it via the LCD or is it simply just a visualizer with no extra features? Cheers
HI, thanks for the video. I'm just starting with 3d printing and it helped me install and run the visualizer. One thing though that has me confused, after the mesh was created, the mesh was displayed both on the ender's screen and in octoprint. However, the two are not exactly the same. What I mean is the numbers are the same but their positions are flipped top and bottom. I mean the front right side square in the ender is displayed as back right side in octoprint and so on. Which is the correct one?
As a fairly new user to 3d printing, Does the bed level visualizer in octoprint tell the printer the offsets for the bed, or is it strictly a visualizer? Or do I have to use the bed level option in the printers menu ?
Hi. Its strictly a visualizer to help get the bed as level as possible. If you have a bltouch, that will actually tell the printer the offsets to make adjustments on the fly.
1st using this Octoprint and BLV I think mine is pretty lvl with min: -0.23739 with max: 0.059 (Var: 0.29638) I actually enjoy manually lvlling the bed.
Hey Rob, thanks for the help. Any idea on why mine just shows the black line in the background 3d grid? Im on my second mesh leveling and it seems to not visualize anything?
Great video, thank you. Like you, I thought my printer was a lot better, but it turns out it was pretty much identical to yours! Anyway, fixing now thanks!
Hi I recently installed this watching your video but I’m having an issue. I go to level the bed it homes everything is heated up but on the screen it says probing but it isn’t doing anything it won’t probe the bed. I don’t know what’s wrong I put the guide for bi linear like you showed. Any ideas? Thanks
Hi. Is it doing the probe in the middle as part of the auto home? If not, its probably an issue with the firmware. If it is, try to send the g29 command to the printer to see if it runs the mesh.
Hello, another great video, im running into an issue tho, i have Octoprint installed in my WINDOWS 10 , not in PI... when i try to go to the LOCALHOST url from PUTTY, it wont connect... i dont know what im doing wrong, any tips? thanks!
Hi. I havent actually set this up on windows but if your not able to connect going to local host, try using the ip address. Some apps will only work on the ip, even though local host resolves to the same IP. Also, i would look to make sure the service is running and try to connect with https.
When I copy my Pis IP address into putty, it gives me an error and won’t connect. I can connect to octoprint from that address on my desktop so I know it’s correct.
Hi. Make sure putty is set to ssh and port 22. If it is, your computer may be blocking the traffic. That said, you no longer need to ssh to the pi to use this plugin. They removed that requirement a couple months back.
Are those probings in real time or is your printer tooting some nose candy? That is fast. I mean I use 7x7 because I spent $50. 2x2 for example corrects for zero warpage
Hi. I had the video at 5x during the probing parts. I didn’t think anyone would want to watch it at normal speed. I’ve never gone beyond a 5x5 grid but I know some beds need it. And I normally don’t go under a 3x3 grid but a 2x2 would work in some cases.
I am having an issue where it prints vertical like sides but fails to go lower to print a bottom and extrudes in the air. I have a Ender 3 +OctoPrint+Direct Drive + BLtouch Autoleveler. I was looking to see if the octoprint bed leveler can help with this. Also what is the discord channel you mentioned? The home page for the plugin also says you no longer have to add that package from command line.
Hi. It sounds like the z-offset may be wrong, but i would want to understand the issue more. The link to the discord server is in the video description. Also, ya it sounds like the package is no longer required.
i tried to use this; but after pasting in the gcode.. i see in terminal tab that everything is heating up.. and than when it hits the temperature it needs, it just cools down... but no movement... running it on a Ender 5 Pro...
Hi. It sounds like the G29 command wasnt added. I would look to make sure thats there. That said, i didnt specifically try this on the Ender 5, though it should work just fine.
Is the visualization dependent on the overall height or just the levelness of the bed? As in when a bed is perfectly level, but a bit higher than it should be, does it show that as too high or just as level?
quick question, my bed needs some adjusting based on the visualization I got back but its printing fine. That said I want to get it as flat as possible so I will make the changed until its flat. however does that mean I will have to change my z offset settings again? Its been ages since I did that and honestly I don't even remember how I did it.
For some reason, as soon as the first point probes I get M112 shutdown. In the terminal all it say is error probing failed. I have the most up-to-date Marlin firmware on the SKR mini V2 and a CR touch. I've been able to probe before, but for some reason when I try to make a mesh it crashes the printer. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi. Im guessing it may need to be lowed a little, or its actually just using the z stop. If you do an autohome and have the crtouch probe touch your finger, does it stop?
It is funny, you are always right in line with whatever stage I am on with my printer. Currently I am having massive issues with the BL Touch. I figured out this plugin on my own last week and found out that the front and back of my bed and down so far that the printer will M112 Shutdown. While trying to fix the problem, I figured out the gap between my nozzle and BL touch end was too small, with that problem fixed now the BL touch will not even touch the bed with bed leveling! It fails first corner. I have been using Z axis offset wizard to set the z axis offset. I am out of ideas. I have spent weeks troubleshooting. Any ideas?
Hi. Thats funny. The bltouch probe needs to be lower than the nozzle with extended, if not it will not engage. The z-offset is meant to account for the difference.
@@3DPrintscape as far as I can tell it is when deployed. In the bltouch v3.1 install pdf it outlines a dimension (2.3-4.3) in the CAD drawing. My old gap was less than 2mm. Now it is in between the spec. When deployed the tip is lower than the nozzle by a good few mm.
I did everything for OCTOPRINT on my "rpi3 B+ " but can not able to connect with my wifi router.I used angry IP scanner but not found any devices ( rpi or OCTOPRINT ).Can you please give me any suggestions what can I do ? ( For testing purpose I installed raspbianOS .It was perfectly ok or able to connected with Wi-Fi).
@@annoorkhan4219 The only time i have seen wifi not work is if the config was wrong or not uncommented. You could try to connect a network cable to the device to see if you can connect that way. That will tell you if the octoprint install is ok or not.
Okay, so I bought a BLTouch like a month ago, and apparently I’ve been using it wrong the whole time, because I didn’t know, that it automatically corrects for the bed... I spent a whole lot of hours adjusting it, so that it will be perfect, but apparently I didn’t have to do that. Good to know
Hi. Spending the time to level the bed properly was a good move. The more level the bed is, the less the stepper motors will have to work to compensate.
Hi. This is just a visualizer for you. If you have firmware that supports mesh bed leveling, or are using a Bltouch or something similar, you can save the settings at printer console.
@@3DPrintscape Thanks for replying, I meant if you already have the mesh you have to call it somewhere in the code to use it; you do it on Cura or the firmware itself always uses it?
Thanks for the video! Do you have a general variance that you deem acceptable? Just trying to figure out how far I should be driving myself crazy tuning my bed, haha.
not sure what happened- i didnt change the password- at least not that im aware... i tried to sign in through putty, i insert PI as the user and RASPBERRY as the pass but it says ACCESS DENIED... any ideas?
I don't see "Bed Level Visualizer" in octopi's plugin managers "get more" section. I'm curious to know if the plugins would be the same between octopi and octoprint?
Hi. Im actually running Octopi on the device i used for this recording, so it should be there. What hardware are you running and is octopi fully updated?
@@3DPrintscape Ty for the reply. Yeah I am on a rpi 4 4gb pi. Octopi was up to date as of a few days ago, however it's currently printing a fairly long print so I'm unable to manage add/remove plugins (though I can search) or attempt to update octopi. I also checked the plugin blacklist and did not see it there either.

My printer (ender 3S1) came with the CR touch and no matter how hard I try to get my bed level I always have a couple little high and low spots. Despite it being very much within the needed range my cr touch doesn’t seem to accommodate it either because when I print it’s messed up accordingly. I’m still having trouble getting it level with this plugin
@@3DPrintscape I have a PEI plate on it currently. I have a glass bed coming tomorrow because I’ve been messing with it so long I’m throwing anything I can think of at it. I’m hoping the uniformity of the flat glass will help. I don’t have anything I can accurately use as a straight edge. I did have a metal ruler but I have no idea what my kids did with it. I’ve been looking for it for months cause I needed it for something else as well. I’m trying to use the octoprint bed visualizer to help me figure out where my low spots are. It’s weird cause last night I was pretty dang close but there was definitely a dip towards the middle. I added masking tape to try to help bring it up but when I reran the bed visualizer my output looked like what I tried had the opposite effect. The outer edge seemed to get lower but the middle also seemed to get lower. Is the bed visualizer supposed to take forever to run? When I run it it will make a probe and then wait like a minute before moving to the next one and probing. It seems unusually long between probes. I’m not sure I set up the best gcode when setting that up. I saw somewhere somebody had it set to make 25 probes for get a finer detail. I’m now perusing Reddit trying to see if there’s a way to use a mesh level on the S1. I don’t fully grasp the concept yet but I’m grasping at straws at this point.
@@avgjoeshow4208 I think the glass bed should help. If it doesn't, it may be worth changing the grid size from 3 to 5 to get more points. It should only take about 60-90 seconds to hit all 9 spots. If its taking that long at one, something is off.
@@3DPrintscape something must be off with it then cause when I run it it’s unusually slow and often times repeats a second time after it finishes the first run. What do you mean change the grid size and how would one do that? Thank you for responding back to me!

Hi. If you run through the bed leveling process and save it, it should be used for future prints. I personally prefer to run the mesh at the start of each print just incase anything has changed.
Hi. The if your using the supplied password, it should work just fine. The only way it wouldnt is if it was changed or if its being typed wrong. Its also worth mentioning that you may not need to install the package through ssh with the latest version of the octopi image.

If you can connect with one computer and not your main one, then its probably a driver issue or something on the computer (assuming the USB cable was the same). i tried to use this; but after pasting in the gcode.. i see in terminal tab that everything is heating up.. and than when it hits the temperature it needs, it just cools down... but no movement... running it on a Ender 5 Pro...
Hi. It just shows how level the build plate is.
Thank you for your help

How do i change 3*3 grid to 5*5 grid.... i have octo pi setup.... please tell me how to change the grid size.
Hi. You can change the grid size in the firmware by changing GRID_MAX_POINTS_X from 3 to 5.
@@3DPrintscape Thanks, I don't have experience in updating the firmware. But thanks... will learn how to update the firmware
quick question, my bed needs some adjusting based on the visualization I got back but its printing fine. That said I want to get it as flat as possible so I will make the changed until its flat. however does that mean I will have to change my z offset settings again? Its been ages since I did that and honestly I don't even remember how I did it.
Hi. Assuming your not making huge changes, the z offset shouldn't really change.
Hi. Make sure all your cabling/connectors are secure. If they are, it could be the firmware.
thank you

Why does my crtouch keep poking the bed with the nozzle before it clicks and stops
@@eddyeisenberg5740 Is it actually hitting the bed on the first point? If not, try to clear the eeprom.
@@3DPrintscape it's not hitting the bed. I tried to reset EEPROM but it has no effect. Still fails first probe and causes an M112.

Hi. It sounds like the wifi information wasn't entered, was entered incorrectly, or the lines were not wifi lines in the config were not uncommneted.
@@3DPrintscape @Chris Riley I also tryed manually..but it doesn't work. Can I add a monitor and check said and password with OCTOPRINT ?
Does the add-on applies autocorrection to the code? Or you have to specify it on Cura or other slicers?
@@Screamer26 Gotcha, ya its in the firmware under bed leveling. If you don't have the bltouch, its define MESH_BED_LEVELING
Thanks for the video! Do you have a general variance that you deem acceptable? Just trying to figure out how far I should be driving myself crazy tuning my bed, haha.
Hi. It depends if you are using a bltouch or not. If not, I would try to be within .1mm.
not sure what happened- i didnt change the password- at least not that im aware... i tried to sign in through putty, i insert PI as the user and RASPBERRY as the pass but it says ACCESS DENIED... any ideas?
Hi. The password should all be lowercase.
Do u need the bl touch for this to work?
Hi. Ya you would need a Bltouch, or other abl kit, for this to work.
As soon as it's done I will holler if I see it. I do have several bed leveling plugins that appear while searching but unfortunately none match what you are using. I also checked the plugin blacklist and did not see it there either.
@@3DPrintscape Very odd. After freeze framing your video, the site we're both going to is the exact same github project by the same developer but mine comes up "Bed Visualizer" (no level). Either way, its working for me now so thanks for the video and taking the time to reply.

hi, do you know how to set up the ender 3 on octoprint and where to have the origin etc if you have a crtouch installed? i just tried setting mine up and it started printing in the bottom left corner and didnt do a bed level at the start. i had previously set up the crtouch on cura following your video but was having issues connecting 2 printers and using cura for both - thanks :)

Hi. What type of build plate do you have and can you use some sort of strait edge and see if you have any really high or low spots?

Hi. Where are you in the video and what issue are you having?
@@3DPrintscape Firstly, I have ender3 v1.1.3 and deleted the software on the motherboard. I need to learn the embedded software version of my printer to level the bed. I broke the screen of my 3D printer :( . That's why I use a computer to control my printer with octoprint. However, I am having a connection problem, while my printer's motherboard was connecting to the octoprine before, it is not connecting now. What is the software I can use for my motherboard, how can I find it. It is also in the Octoprint. So I have a lot of problem hahahah.
Gotcha, the 1.1.3 board is an old 8 bit one and i havent seen it in a while. Most of the older Ender 3 had the 1.1.4 board. Can you verify the version? If it was connecting to octoprint before and isnt now my question would be did anything change? This would include cables, etc. If not, your board may be going bad. @@ferhatacar50
@@3DPrintscape my problem was not on the motherboard, but on my computer, I was able to connect to another computer.
the version of my card is 1.1.3. I have to check directly from the computer, I told you before that I don't have a screen. what are your suggestions about the motherboard software?do I need to update?
if we can communicate by mail, it would be better to exchange information with a screenshot.
If you can connect with one computer and not your main one, then its probably a driver issue or something on the computer (assuming the USB cable was the same). You cant verify what board you have from the screen (even if yours wasnt broken). You need to remove the case around it and look at the version on the board. If it is a driver issue or something on your computer updating the firmware on the board could help. @@ferhatacar50
