I lived in South Lake Tahoe in the late 70s. I fell in love with the place. I visit now and then. I spend a lot of time picking up after people. It's heart breaking.
Roy B There need to be littering citations like traffic tickets and they should be strictly reinforced as well. That should take care of the grownups. As for kinds, I wish they can cane them like in Singapore but that will never happen. Make them do community services and pick up trash. That will teach them something.
What the hell is with that, I have not been back since the 70s, but people throw trash every were, and there are trash cans 4 ft away? Santa Monica, Malibu, trash ever were, ft from trash cans? WTF
We used to go a lot when I lived in the SF Bay Area and my dad had a cabin up there, but with the way things are now (garbage, hoards of tourists, traffic, pollution, expensive) I have no interest in going back.
Yes to all that commented on keeping the beaches and lake clean. Why is it so hard to pack up your garbage and either take back out with you or find a garbage can? Happy I found this channel today!
Thanks! Helping us to plan a trip! I appreciate the fact that you just kept your video BASIC and didn't ramble on for 5 mins about each location. Super practical, simple, and helped narrow down the spots to visit in less than 10mins. Cheers!
I moved there in 1970 and didn't leave til 1999 when I just got too tired to keep shoveling snow. I don't even recognize it now but it is still a beautiful and magical spot. I miss it every day.
I’ve been going camping here and snowboarding since I was a little kid. Angora Lakes are another beautiful place to visit up in the mountains past fallen leaf lake. Beautiful lakes, but very cold all the time, with cliff jumps at 30’ 50’ and almost 60’ feet.
Dude you forgot Angora Lakes!!! Such a fun spot for warm water to swim in. Also, Fire and Ice at Heavenly is sooooooo good. Great comprehensive video and info!
So thankful for you making this video! This is how landmark and travel videos should be made. Short, concise, informative and right to the point! I copied and pasted your info on all these locations into a notepad and I feel much more comfortable at least getting a general idea of knowing my way around Lake Tahoe and what to expect. Thanks so much!
This was a great informative video! Thank you. I loved how you kept it short and to the point. I wish everyone made videos this way. My family is headed to Lake Tahoe for the first time and this is super helpful.
I love this passionate presentation of Lake Tahoe with all major attractions and their locations in a clockwise route. It is especially helpful to me as I am not familiar to the names and the locations of many spots. Great presentation !
Taylor Creek, next to the Tallac Historic Site, is a nice area to visit and you can see the salmon running in the fall. It has easy trails to walk along the creek and out to the shores of Lake Tahoe, along with a National Forest Service visitor center with helpful rangers.
Good list, but you missed the best spot on an October day -- Paige Meadows. Along the west Shore before you reach Tahoe City, heading north. Spectacular fall colors, wonderful 2 to 4 mile hike.
I live in South Lake Tahoe and have gone around the Lake throughout the summer when I was younger. I love seeing where I live and how beautiful it is. I do recommend if you *REALLY* love pizza I recommend Base Camp in the Heavenly Village.
I really enjoy your videos and I had no idea that there are so many places to visit in Tahoe...now my bucket list has 17 more places to visit!...Thank you for sharing......it is really a breathtaking spot in California!
I am a born and raised 22 year local of South Lake Tahoe. Please..take care of my home. The reason all of these places are busy is because of their beauty. Leave them beautiful.
@@lanacastillo49 some yes, but that's also the ability of the dog. You don't want to take them to some of the very steep cliffs where they may not be able to see the edge due to the trees. But Tahoe is very dog friendly
Thank you so much for this video. My Fiance and I get getting married later in the year and are hoping to spend our honeymoon at Lake Tahoe. This has given us so many ideas and we can't wait.
The half-day cruise to Thunderbird Lodge is awesome, the M.S. Dixie paddleboat excursion, and horseback riding--both on the California side and the Nevada side. We always go to Sno-Flake for ice cream, and Scusa Italian Ristorante is amazing!
While in Tahoe, everyone who has an adventurous side should go for a hot air balloon ride. The balloon actually takes off and lands on a boat. Spectacular!!
Mcduffs is one of my favorite spots. It’s one of the few places you can get Pliny the Elder on tap. Glen alpine falls and fallen leaf lake is my wife’s favorite lake. It sure would be awesome to stay in one of those houses facing the lake on that tiny one lane road. We used you’re Tahoe video from a few years ago as guide for our first trip up there. Great recommendations.
Oh man I didn't know that they have Pliney often, that is good to know. I agree it would be fun to stay in one of those houses near Fallen leaf Lake but it would not be as fun to drive in there every day haha.
A couple of my favorites are, The Beacon, by Richardson’s Camp and Revive! The Beacon has a beautiful beach and patio where they used to play music and I love their Bloody Marry!!! They have their own mix and it’s fabulous!!! Revive is a great peaceful place to do just that...revive! Kick back, relax with a coffee, tea or beer & like I always say to, “Revive at Revive”!lol! 😁
Great video Josh. I've hiked the Rubicon Trail, thanks to another of your videos. How nice it is to have the lake in my back yard. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Josh, I'm planning to go to Lake Tahoe this summer............................finally. LOL! I'm definitely bookmarking your video here for when I'm going. ;-)
Hanna Hall rn as I’m driving to Lake Tahoe (I live in USA California.) it is my first time going there, but I hope you have a good trip on your way there :)
Great video. I love Lake Tahoe. I make a few trips to MacDuff's every time I'm in South Lake Tahoe. Two things to order there is their Shepherd's Pie and their fried fish plate of haddock. Also, Sonny's Bar-B-Que is very good and I always like to experience Fire & Ice Mongolian grill in Heavenly Village. And at Kings Beach I usually stop at The Grid Bar & Grill. It's something of a dive, but it's my kind of dive.
Poor me then,I only visited the south of lake Tahoe, I miss a lot of nice views over there by watching this, that urged me to go back .I hope so.but it's too far from az.we only took a short visit there on our way from yuba city back to Arizona .oh boy it's a long way taking the back route but it's worth it I saw the lake Tahoe (a part of it)and mountains with pine trees.love the views
Thanks for the video. I grew up on the north side of Tahoe and although I’ve been to South Lake Tahoe plenty of times, It seems I still have many places to explore. I’ll be looking into a few of these hiking spots this summer.
If you have not done the Lakes Basin-Sierra Buttes area you must check it out, as beautiful as it gets in California (i.e., the WORLD). Can’t wait to see the video , keep them coming please!
Greetings from Sedona Arizona Free bird was a great pick (I actually have their t-shirt) but Artemis Greek restaurant is a must... Along with off the hook sushi... There's a great used book store right next door another must South lake Tahoe rocks!!!!
Taylor Creek nature center is a great little place to go if you have kids. Used to be one of the highlights of our stay when we'd visit Tahoe for a week each year in my youth.
We lived in Minden, NV, and a short drive up Hwy 50, at the 28 was Spooner Lake. From Spooner you access North Canyon, and the trail head to the Flume Trail. Highly recommend.
I have never been to this Great Lake. Looks like there are tons of things to see and experience there. I'm a native born Bronx New Yorker living in the S.W region in N.M. the country side there looks really nice. That now will be on my bucket list of place's to definitely see and explore. I looking at this video ? Would love to see a big couple of home designers ? To maybe build a small town villa styled similar ? To Lake Como in Italy. I bet that would draw even more tourists to the lake with colorful looking buildings on a piece of a shoreline there. But that's the bias Italian in me showing... lol. Great video and thanks for sharing. Ciao.

Ngl I clicked on this to judge your choices since I’ve grown up in Tahoe
All of these were pretty good choices though so hats off to you my dude
Kayaking in emerald bay and hiking up to the tea place has to be the best for me. It's cheap to do, easy waters, and the view from up there is amazing

I lived there in my twenties and still miss it like. I'm 53 now and I am sure much has changed. Going back soon 🌲
This is awesome now I know what to do in Lake Tahoe
Base Camp Pizza is another excellent place to eat in South Lake Tahoe. Tasted especially good after a day on the slopes of Heavenly.
Ya that is a great spot as well, prob my favorite in that village area!
Yes! Best chicken curry pizza 😋
Agreed!!! Love basecamp pizza, they have live music which is always so nice !
