As a resident of this beautiful area, I would appreciate it if lifestyle channels like this advocated more for tourists taking care of Lake Tahoe. July 5th is the day that we spend ALL day picking up tons and tons of trash that tourists leave behind as a gift for us. Just a thought as you continue to travel around to other precious, tourist overrun areas. Because honestly, we don't want more tourists, especially here.
Oh definitely agree - we, unfortunately, get the same issues in Santa Barbara where we are based. We even brought a trash bag with us inside our backpacks paddleboarding to pick up trash we paddled past. We post Leave No Trace Guidelines along with every video and consistently throughout our other platforms as well, but we can definitely work on incorporating more of a conversation at the beginning of each video! Thanks for the feedback!

If you’re into hiking, views, and lakes, I recommend going to the hike called Ellis Peak. There’s a beautiful view of the lake, and a fun little lake to swim in.
Thanks dude for this video it’s actually really helpful, I’ll be there during the week in September to beat the crowds but you guys pretty much nailed it on what I wanted to do which was paddle board through the coves and swim. Now I I feel confident on what to do 1st to maximize and enjoy my time there.
Good review of SOUTH LAKE TAHOE. But there are other areas around the lake too. Also they got their compass mixed up. The sunset is viewed best from the EAST shore, not the SOUTH shore. The east shore is where the coves are located. Emerald bay on the southwest shore.

Lake Tahoe is a very peaceful place and I been there like around April 2020 with some family members and my parents are planning to go again hope I loved it
You only covered the southern half of the lake. There's Thunderbird lodge (which is a mansion on an old estate) and the Truckee river. which runs through Reno, starts at the north end of the lake. There are other attractions too best of which it's not near as crowded.
We did not have the chance to make it up there! Next time we visit we will make sure to add more Northern Lake Tahoe destinations! Thanks for the feedback Lynne :)
We are going on a Wednesday morning, June 23rd. Will there be as much traffic you think?? Hoping everyone is at work 🙏🏾 Amazing vlog and out just in time for our trip up! Thanks
I highly doubt there will be much traffic on a Wednesday morning. Most people from the Central Valley (Sacramento) or the Bay are at work and usually don't come until Friday evening or Saturday morning. Even then it's not too bad, traffic's usually moving pretty good and the drive is beautiful. With some good music and good conversation the time flies by (like most of California). Enjoy your trip! I love Tahoe (we usually camp in the summers and get a cabin every winter).
Great info about the nude beach! No other videos mentioned this! All good info here! Generally, what is the water temperature on the beaches at the end of July early August?
Thanks for posting this. Can I assume that Kayaks can be rented at Sand harbor? Also, about how far is it to the various nearby coves that you mentioned?
Kayaks can be rented in Sand Harbor upon availability! We recommend reserving them in advance on busy days. The destinations are around 5 miles all the way to Secret Cove and back. The closest destination was Bonsai Rock about .7 miles away.
I’m looking to visit in September. I really like Sand Harbor and I’m planning a three day camping trip. On the Sand Harbor website it states that there are no campgrounds. So if I wanted to camp near it what would be the closest camp site and would I have to use watercraft to go to and from it?
Do tou need to purchase a pass of any kind to visit lake tahoe? We are visiting from the UK and prior to getting to tahoe we are in yosemite where we have had to get passes
Just a different perspective for all of you visiting my home: Every community surrounding Tahoe is in such close proximity to the lake itself that most trash left by tourists will end up deposited in the lake by runoff either in its original form, as fine sediment particles, or as microplastics. Sediment pollution contributes to 2/3 of the decline in Tahoe's water clarity, which has been a pressing environmental issue since the 90s. Additionally, Tahoe is home to a TON of wildlife, including bears. They are not a threat to you unless you try to feed them, leave food in an unlocked car, or do not dispose of food properly (in bear boxes ONLY!). As the community continues to develop and climate change continues to intensify winter conditions, bears have increasingly limited food supply and territory and are becoming more prevalent in towns. If you end up getting another bear killed because you were irresponsible or uneducated, then you will have done a disgrace to our community and will no longer be welcome. Please educate yourself and respect our community and the environment. TAHOE IS NOT AN AMUSEMENT PARK AND IF IT'S NOT YOUR HOME, YOU STILL HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT IT. :) be decent please!
