Hello Chet, I've been watching your channel for the last 3 years and really enjoy them. I'm from the UK and we have a very wet spring making things hard. I guys are awesome, thank you for sharing what you do
My grandparents used the phrase ‘dickens of a time’ also. Thanks for bringing the memory back!
Absolutely love Dougo’s comment about hire kids to pick them up* oh that’s right they don’t work anymore*
Couldn’t be more spot on , I love and never miss a video.
Fellow farmer from Nicollet County
Things have sure changed. We worked hard and stayed out of trouble. My folks had a saying. Better a belt on your caboose than your neck in a noose.
Dougo needs his own channel! Brilliant wisdom and humor. Whether he means it or not. Also the wide slots on the rock picker? Sounds like a good winter project for one of the boys to weld in some rebar and narrow up the slots. Pick up smaller rocks.
Good to see you are finally able to get in the fields.
I never thought we would have a wet spring like this here in MN. We had only 2 weeks of winter, so I thought it was going to be a nice early planting season this year but I was wrong. Maybe this is the price we have to pay for the lack of a winter. I hope the weather straightens out so we can get our last 2 fields planted.
Same in Michigan.
So much fun to see the trials and tribulations of the Haybuster. I used one while farming in 1981-1984. Sometimes thought I spent more time replacing O rings on the motors than picking until we figured out how to seat them correctly.
That was a close one on the rock picker. Glad you were there to save me.
Love ❤️ ❤ me some Larson Farms videos!!! I hope and pray that y’all get all of your crops in and rat y’all have a bountiful crop this year 👋👋Hey Dougo we love you 👍👍you ROCK !!
The only thing you guys don’t have is a portable rock crusher . Could make your own gravel with all those rocks x
16:00. True statement, Doug! Well said.
Baie professioneel. Dankie
Always a great video with Dougo, Erik & Chet!
Chet u take a lot off Dougo mine the way you handle everything on the farm! God bless your family n all farmers!🙏🏻
We have been getting crazy rains where I live. I'm not a farmer, but my damn grass/weeds are growing so fast you can hear them stretch. Good luck and I hope things get better every day.
Hey Dougo, my wonderful grandmother use to say dickins, but that was usually what we were going to catch when we goofed off. Her other saying was "by gully", whatever that was.
By gully, you boys don't stop goofing off you'll catch the Dickins. Follow by her wonderful laugh.
She's been gone 36 years and I still remember her as sweetheart of a gramma.
I know I say it a lot, but you guys are a great team and do a terrific job. 👍❤️
Love our Salford cultivators. Have had 3.
Love Larson Farms videos. Always entertaining. Some post are just to long.
Sorry Dougo, I laughed at your expression when you saw chunks of the tire missing on the rockpicker. Late planting and lots of bad tires this spring...
Another great video ,thanks for all your info on everything you are doing and the reasons why
Doug saying about the dust in the side by side reminded of the Childhood school bus made me laugh 😅
I DIG DOUGO!!! Who AGREES with me ?
good to see the Big Swede
Awesome video Chet. 🚜🚜🚜
Nice to see you guys in short sleeves Jesus I couldn't live up there in that cold
Wet side hills. From listening to my uncle's discuss this yrs ago. My understanding is the dirt above the frost line is loosened by the frost oh so slightly. But the soil below is much more compact and with heavy rain the moisture is held in the top soil.
Soil below the frost line is just a little
You guys should use all the rocks you pick on the tile drain outlets. It’ll help with unwanted erosion!
Doug, regarding the rock situation, get a rock crusher and turn them into gravel for the driveway overall probably save a little money if you also use some of the neighbors also, maybe a community project??
Getting it done fellows nice videos
Dickens refers to the devil. Have a devil of a time. AKA A bad day. Great show guys. Congrats on the new family member Brody
"Dickens" lead me down that rabbit hole too, I had also heard the phrase "colder than the dickens". Now I know ;
There’s a very simple answer to this. “Dickens” was originally a euphemism for the word “Devil.”
In times past - and even now - there have been some people reluctant to directly reference the devil. And in fact, people who also regard using words like “hell,” “God,” “Jesus Christ” as exclamations in everyday conversation as something they don’t like to do, have, over time, developed euphemisms that they find acceptable. So they may say, “This is a heck of a mess,” or “Oh my gosh,” or “Jeepers Creepers.”
You guys could use some of that peat soil from up in the north west corner of your state.
Eric you can use last pass on your viper and auto steer your headlands also
I remember back when I was a kid we used to pick rocks by hand. And there was no machinery involved. And we had 54, Quarters of line.
Anyone else going to be severely bummed when plant 24’ is over😂😂? Good for them bad for us!!!!
Watching all them Boyz everyday
Dougo, when grandpa used to cultivate with the John Deere 2020, I used to ride in the bucket and pick rocks. I got a nickel a rock. My price has increased to a buck a rock if interested.😂
Its so very nice to see a millennial farmer and a Larson Farm video in the same day can't wait for the next one Chet
You'll get there. Weather is what it is!! Great video
Try the "10th Generation Dairyman" too.
Dickens was from England, wrote most of his life from London. HC Andersen was here from Denmark
Big Swede is a dead ringer for Cincinnati Reds pitcher Andrew Abbott! Love your videos!
Big stone county big harvest of rock
Well look on the bright side at least Eric doesn't have to get the firehouse out to clean the tractors off
I’m disking a cornfield now that has fire hydrants in it
Y’all should buy a rock crusher with the amount you dig up. then that way you could make your own gravel for the yard…
Could be a aquifer. Take a scoop out with the excavator - if it fills with water in an afternoon, put a tile there. (Put a camera on it and time how fast it fills - a metric for future tiling. ?)
Hoping for a tractor review from
Dougo
Love it
water follows gravity... in two ways - Into the soil profile or off the slope.. Dig down in a wet spot and check soil profile for Panning....
I did more than my share of picking rocks when I was a kid...onto the hay wagon, off the hay wagon...repeat...all day.
Chat, I so appreciate what you do Hopefully, you learn from your grandfather when technology doesn’t exist how you’re going to continue to farm it would be interesting to do a series on how your grandfather and your father actually Farmed Just saying, appreciate you where our food comes from
Sure hope YOU can get crop in before the rain
Just watched HiTeck Farmers latest video. He is in also in Minnesota. He just received six inches of rain in his area and it is so wet some of his tile drains are no longer working and one is even flowing backwards!
Another great video Chet. I wonder how many hours of footage you have to go thru, to make one video
Go-Go time.
Chet, I want one of the LF hats that your dad and Brody have been wearing. Black with logo in center! Your mom told me that was a limited edition version, can you get more please?! Thank you
In Canterbury in NZ they grow the best yielding wheat in the world. Just a few miles away they grow best stones too. Alluvial country from shifting riverbeds. In between the stones beautiful soil. Stone picking or pulvirising is so expensive. I like you picker because its low impact and low horsepower. We have a couple of massey headers and i would have loved to repurpose the 760 to harvest rocks. Just as a lifter, bin and conveyor. Trouble with picking is all the stopping to unload. About 40% time no picking. Problem is economics. If it cost $2500 acre to pick clean what returns does that generate. So mostly farmers heavy roll hay fields, light roll low pickup seed fields and cereals dont bother. For all the stones we had big ones simply stopped header infeed at the clutches, dropped into stone trap or went thru. Sure a few got sections and fingers or lifters but we managed. Last harvest the mower dropped a blade in the ryegrass. No big deal. A few days later the header lifted the blade, went thru combine and got right thru to the returns rethresher. The cast iron drum didnt like it and spat the dummy. Fortunately had a spare drum for a 1977 machine in the shed and all good. The machines are now all retired, farm not making enough return and farmer retiring, rented out the beautiful ground and its now feeding cows and calves for dairy industry.
👍 thanks
Have a look at a Elho scorpio, stone picker
Don't worry about the mud on tractor Brodie will Handel it lol😅😅😅😅
Great content thanks for letting us tag along!
Fun days of farming, the weather is not helping...
Hey Dougo , add a piece of 5/8"or 1/2" of re-barr in-between the pickup , doing the 1,3,5 sequence. Should do better, like you said " Caint find young kids to do it anymore " !! Why not try.
I am in the concrete business and just like farming, Mother Nature rules sometimes.
The Good Lord is in control, all we can do is go with the flow!!
You should look into Japanese kei trucks!! Cheaper than a ranger and they seal a lot better it would be perfect for your situation look up Honda acty
25:40 Wait one damn minute. That Polaris side by side is THIRTY TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS?!!! Are you kidding me?...
Bidenomics
@@bobmiller2921 Not really bidenomics just way more to the sxs then what a sxs should be. do you need 225 hp ac heat radio in a sxs?
Remember one thing Chet doesn't buy the base model on anything. SO yes the sxs is $32k. They start at about $11k and will go to about $60k. But you are getting something that is 225 hp ac heat radio all the bells and whistle of a car. Not just something to drive from farm to farm.
You think the 9520 is too big for the digger? We pull a 44ft deere with a 9630t and a 50ft with a 9620 rx. TOO MUCH tractor for both. But it's what we have to get the job done. I go 7and a half with the rx. Our 50 ft is an 08 and it's seen better days. Starting to Crack in places. Maybe when corn gets to be 6 bucks again we can go bigger!
Chet u need a light on the side of the seed/chemical shed.
Dougo It looks as though you have some rock lenses at the lower end of the wet spots but if you are on glacial till that might not be the case
Chet Dougo Eric Broodie Randy Jordan great cc job good explanations thank you really great.
You're right, Dougo about the young kids not wanting to work. OH MY. What's this generation coming to. I picked a lot of rocks and hoed weeds while growing up on Dad's farm back in the 60's and 70's.
Chet - I think it’s time you go buy your dad a new rock picker for Christmas or his birthday
Chet this a question from a previous video. One of the videos you guys installed a air line to connect and expand you air compressor system. Have you ever had an insurance company ever say that line is not good or have they passed your system? I need to replace some line but the air compressor inspector doesn't like that type of line. Wondering what you have encountered.
As far as reliability and operator comfort, which do you like better the John Deere"s or the Case / IH"s ?
Get a 1500 Northstar ultimate edition ranger. Only problem is it will set you back 46k. Comes in three colors options, mine is red
Make Brody go plant by hand..it’ll do him some good lol
You should try an ELHO Scorpio or a Kivi Pekka if they are available in North America
'Dickens' was once a euphemism for the devil and the expression is first found in print in Shakespeare
Your Grandmother was from an era that didn't use profanity...
Dougo idea here
What about a strip of chicken wire on that wheel to get those that fall thru. It might work.
Seems like hillside springs from wet years.
Put duct tape over the speaker for your low air warning. You'll still hear it , but won't be so severe..
Do your realize that if I didn't have your videos to watch I would have to clean house do dishes and go to the dump . LOL
We really need to get Chet Doug Brody and Erik a mill subs
Probably take a while but hope they get to the 500 mark
Do you apply starter fertilizer for your corn or just urea?
Hay I have a question for the Larson farms I understand coming from a background in a lot of things why don't you guys deep I mine deep rip your fields to brake the hard pan if you say because of the drain tiles that is not it with all the technology you can do it it would be very good for water draining and crop gain.
I could use the rock dougo but I’m in Kansas lol
The guys that planted on April 10th are planting again today, they're already talking about this fall being a bad event
You need a tire duogo
Dad put on a little weight over the vacation winter
I do not know what dickens means But my grandmother and mother both used that phrase when there was a hard project
3:10 YA GOTAA SPEAK LOUDER SWEED 🤣
I know how to fix the rock picker weld bars up and down the smaller rocks won't fall out. Don't know if that's possible or not
Is your drainage pipe partially backed up there??
Lexel is your friend
Dickins = struggle bus?
I reckon that Polaris is in need of some duct tape to seal the dust out!
What do you have 3 case or do you have 4
$30,000 for that SxS? Get a base model 4x4 taco!
Santa Claus works for you all in the spring!!
dougo just wel in another bar on the wheel, get all of them darn rocks :)
Dougo if I lived closer to you I would take 4 yards of rock from you or had a heavier pickup and a bigger trailer I would come get them unless you deliver lol
