Your thoughts about the music and the sounds... thank you, I agree! I was starting to think there was something wrong with me. I can't play Wonka because of the music, to me it's like someone scratching their fingernails down a blackboard. While watching the TS4 videos today, I was getting the same feeling and all I wanted to do is mute the frigging video. Make. It. Stop! The music and sound in Pat's last 2 games are just awful to me. You also touched on many other things I don't think are good which I also agree with, especially at that price. But it's a Pat Lawlor game, a designer that has always been a favourite and I will flip it if I get the chance (but will have to invest in some decent noise cancelling headphones first). I'm sure I would enjoy it shots. As for the overall package, shame it has a big number 4 all over the artwork and assets. I'm a Toy Story fan, and if I won the lottery (that's the only way I could every afford a JJP game) I still would not buy this for my house because every time I see it, I would be reminded of how disappointing Toy Story 4 was. I'm sorry JJP, there will be a lot of people out there like me who would like a Toy Story themed pinball in their gameroom but not with the number 4 on it. It should have be the whole Toy Story universe under the glass with no numbers on it at all.
Thank you, this is the only video i was waiting to watch about Toy Story. You are by far my favorite pinball RUclips channel, and the only that is really not political correct. :)
With the exception of Gn'R; Jersey Jack is definitely marketing their machines towards a younger and family friendly audience. With that being said, I really hope Spooky comes out with a "Shining" pinball machine.
I think JJP is trying to get pinball back in arcades so they're doing soft universally accepted themes and trying to lower the bar for entry while working with companies like MGM and Disney. Shining pinball would freaking rock, especially after halloween. Imagine what you can do with the door axe scene (spooky could just reuse the americas most haunted door). Here's Johnny would be one of the best callouts ever made.
@@slob5041 IMHO JJPs are too expensive for arcades, JJP are more and more turning into a boutique where you can buy expensive, shiny items for your collection.
I said this on JJP’s video so I’m repeating it here. A pinball based on ALL the Toy Story movies would’ve been better, you could’ve decorated the playfield with Al’s Toy Barn or Sid’s creepy toys, the claw from Pizza Planet could grab the ball, I want to fight against Zerg, Stinky Pete, and the Lots-O-Huggin’ bear, there’s so much potential here…why focus only on Toy Story 4? I was really hoping to get wowed again.
The toys being already available cheap toys is insane. Why on earth they made it a Toy Story 4 table instead of an overall Toy Story table is beyond me.
I agree with everything you said, but what operators are putting a 12K game on location? I was an all in person for this theme until I saw TS4. Ugh. It looks fun as hell (minus the ipad) though! Hope there is a location nearby that gets one.
I think we can all agree this isn’t the theme we all wanted. That said I’m surprised that despite that the CEs went so quickly. I never expect any pin value to drop but I do think these will come down a bit and JJP will move on to another title announcement later this year.
Even if I could afford a pinball machine I definitely wouldn't spend $12,000 on just any game. I believe I can get Twilight Zone for the same price and that is my number one favorite game.
Great take as always Cary, guess we gotta play this thing to see what’s what and if it’s worth anything close to what it costs. I’ve always said Wonka sounds like a casino machine so I guess this is no different, ugh
JJP is really becoming more "Stern Like" with every model, just at a higher price point. The play field is more open, the mechs are all reused, and the BOM is being prioritized to non-mechanical crap like 450 leds on the sides, bottom and top, hotrails, and a 12" tablet. Cool mechs are out, boxes of lights are in.
CE always sell because there is enough collectors/speculators in the hobby to support. I think LE sales will show what the general pinball purchasers think about the price/game. It's definitely made me sit this one out. I'm a buyer it 9-10k but not 12k.
Hate to say it but it had to be TS4 it's a license issue with Disney and really just comes down to that. It's a great game I have played it many times over and it's a blast. It's one of those games you need to play to really understand and when you do it doesn't feel so much like ts4 but ts as a whole. Give it a shot first and keep a open mind it's for all skill levels and it is cool
Carey, First, I was critical of your comments on a different video & you were correct: the RUclips algorithms sent me to negative reviews. My apologies. Re: Toy Story 4 by JJP, I have to agree with you. I gave up my slot for the CE (I’m too old to be greedy enough to screw someone out of $3K for my slot) because the CE extras are completely underwhelming. I would much rather have Tim Allen callouts than Annie Potts. Hell, for the extra $3k,, I they should give us Tom Hanks! Like you, I would much rather repeatedly bash Sid, the kid from TS1, with the silver ball. I’m sure Pixar insisted on the video of game play on announcement day, & I hope that practice continues. As a newbie collector, I’ll just hope Stern has a nice autumn offering. I sent the JJP video to my 4 yr old granddaughter & she said, “Cool, Gramps, it has an iPad in it!” As you said….prepping the next generation
This looks like a blast to play..but, I was expecting an integration of all the Toy Story Movies in one pin. This layout reminds me of what a new age Whirlwind would look like in today's world. I love Whirlwind! Maybe they're going to make TS1,2,3 lol it does remind me of a slot machine in a cents 😁 12k?? Crazy!
I was REALLY hoping that it would just be a Toy Story pin, not a specific movie one. And I was really hoping the art package would be more akin to Andy's room with the blue walls and the clouds. Not a huge fan of the art, but honestly I do think the playfield looks like it might be a lot of fun to play. And I love me some Joe Katz coding. That being said, they can piss off when it comes to pricing. This is just straight up gouging at this point. 12 for an LE?! That's ridiculous.
Had been looking forward to see a Toy Story pinball machine and very disappointed in this. Toy Story 4? Should have been Toy Story. No interactive toys and that huge iPhone. Not getting my money
I sold my CCr to buy TS4. Waited around allday for sales to go live. Had a CE in my cart. I just couldn't pay that much for what it is. I guess I'll wait to see what stern is coming out with in August.
Spot on, can’t disagree with anything you said. JJP’s are always flashy & catch my interest, but they never pull me in. God I hope that ding a ling bell has an off function…
Looks like it will be a fun shooter and we are Disney Vacation Club owners. Big fans of the brand. But the $12k price for the LE makes it a hard pass for me. I still think TS IV is a set up to a sequel.
I agree including all 4 movies would've been way better but I guess they wanted to promote toy story 4. Stern Star Trek and Stern Godzilla pinball used multiple movies and that code worked out well. I hope to see Steve Ritchie make fast and the furious movie pin.
They Jersey Jacked up the price again. Speaking only for myself, if they came in 2500 bucks less I would still think it was overpriced but I'd probably begrudgingly order one. At 12k it's not even a consideration. To hard a squeeze.
I completely agree with you, specifically the large monitor inside! Aside from the positives and negatives of the new JJP game… I doubt the license explains it Everybody knew prices would go up…I already made reference to that issue a couple months ago on another video comment section. It’s hard to get parts and the prices of everything went up because of the pandemic. The same will happen in 2023, it will keep rising now as a consequence and adding of Russia/western countries conflict! In Europe Toy Story LE will cost 14K and 18k for the CE due to an additional 20% tax. I’ll maintain my prediction from last year…sales will tumble down for every manufacturers. I hope I’m wrong but 5.000 units for the LE is way too much.
My god! Have they not learned anything from the past? Just look at that sh1t game Lethal Weapon 3! Of all the movies to base your game on you chose number 3? No wonder the game is considered a turd even after all these years! Now for full disclosure I do own a LW3 but really because the game play is fun and it was cheap when I bought it. I have done a ton of work to it to make it look good but the theme is still LW3..UGH! I'm polishing a turd at this point..LOL. But back to Toy Story 4...Come on JJP! 12K to 15K plus? You are reaching too far I think. Another great review Cary! Keep up the good work!
If I ever purchase it will be to keep. Will get a pro artist to color over the 4 on the physical machine (unable to change on the digital screen though). I would then add toys from the other movies and may even remove some of the ones that come with the machine. Get a claw toy, army men, Slinky Dog, and Mr. Potato Head.
I'm ok with the layout and theme, even though I haven't seen the movie. Should be at the very least, a fun pin to play. It's just that price, I get that it's an expensive license and that has something to do with it but man, it's like being punched in the gut looking at those prices. Anyways, good video as usual, thanks
@@badgerx23 I'm not sure. You might end up being right. People were already spending 15-20k already on the used market. We'll see how many units they sale and how fast. On a different note, they might be in trouble with all the economic problems we're having. It's obvious they sale to the high end collector and not the average person. I see that being a problem for them in the next year or so. Making such expensive product in an economic downturn doesn't seem like a sustainable business model. I could be wrong though.
seeing the commercially available toys is so disappointing. they are charging 12 to 15k. If people in the community are making mods. I think they companies should as well.
I love toy story and I love pinball. I was born in 95 so I have a huge nostalgia for the movies. But for 12k? I don't really have money for a new game right now anyways but if it was at stern's premium pricing I might have put a preorder in even with the problems I think I might have with this game. I dunno it's early it might be amazing who knows. But definitely a location game for me
That's funny I just watched TS4 today too for the first time. And yes, it's the worst one. And yes! Key & Peele - best part. Also - that Toy Set it $11 on Ebay ;)
As a fan of Toy Story and pinball, this would seem to be right down my alley. Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy what I saw, I wish they did the first toy story instead. If they are targeting younger players, why is it so expensive? I don’t think many parents will buy this pinball for their kids at this price point.
I know they are targeting kids with this game and not the people already in the hobby. There is a problem, the cost. I would get the new video game system when I was a kid for Christmas every now and then. Those were only a few hundred dollars if that. This is $12k well plus tax, delivery so closer to $13k toy. I doubt many parents would buy this for their kids. Its extremely expensive for something they might play a handful of times, before they get board. JJP really dropped the ball with this.
Wow what a disappointment man. Toy story in general would have been better. A slinky dog ramp similar to the snake skeleton in Elvira would have been awesome
Good luck trying to introduce pinball to kids with this machine because no on-location is going to fork over $12k. They would need 12k plays before they ever see a return.
My personal opinion is I think it will be fun to shoot based on the layout. I don't know if the theme integration, like it or not, will do the game justice. Primarily because I haven't watched any game play footage. Reason for that is I have one on order and I'd like to experience it for myself vs seeing someone else experience it. I personally feel theme integration plays a big part in the game. I don't think woz is the greatest shooter but great theme integration. Potc I sold because, I'm sorry but the theme integration was kinda crappy. My opinion. So for this title I guess I will find out when I play it but hoping for the best. I do get a feeling with this game, like hey, where the major mech? And it's not there. However that may be the new direction of pinball. I don't see a major mech in gnr. I also think if everything is banging you can get away without one and still have a good game, even though I'd like there to be one. So overall I think my kids will love it. I think the casual player will love it. Will it be in the top 20 on pinside. I guess we'll see. Looking forward to playing it.
They literally used cake topper figures for the playfield. Pathetic. When you price the LE at $12k and CE at $15k, you set the bar way high. JJP you failed. My wife and daughters and son love toy story and they hated it. Especially at the price point. Should have been $8k for the LE. It’s a great pin if your an 8 year old girl who never played pinball before.
Easy to achieve and extremely hard to achieve is a mixed bag. You have players who live for a challenge and players who just want an experience under glass. As for price Jersey jack is always to expensive in my opinion but then stern loves 1000 dollar toppers worth two bucks so ugh lol
Usually pinball machines designed with kids in mind are trimmed down and cheaper not the most EXPENSIVE THING ON THE MARKET.

Yup. This isn’t a Toy Story game. It’s a Pat Lawlor Carnival game with a TS4 skin. And horrible app/slot sound. What a tragedy.
Thank you, this is the only video i was waiting to watch about Toy Story.
You are by far my favorite pinball RUclips channel, and the only that is really not political correct.
:)
Wow, that's a hell of a comment! Thanks!
Remember bemoaning the price of Godzilla when it came out? Yeah those were the days...
LOL i Loved "THE PROMISE" playing in the background :)
Toy Story 4 pinball, ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm NOOOO!
LOL, great intro...That was me yesterday WTF JJP!!!????
I said this on JJP’s video so I’m repeating it here.
A pinball based on ALL the Toy Story movies would’ve been better, you could’ve decorated the playfield with Al’s Toy Barn or Sid’s creepy toys, the claw from Pizza Planet could grab the ball, I want to fight against Zerg, Stinky Pete, and the Lots-O-Huggin’ bear, there’s so much potential here…why focus only on Toy Story 4? I was really hoping to get wowed again.
Genuine question. How do you make a $12-15k machine with a plastic ramp?
The toys being already available cheap toys is insane. Why on earth they made it a Toy Story 4 table instead of an overall Toy Story table is beyond me.
My biggest issue like you said in the open is i wish it was Toy Story OVERALL not just 4.
My ceiling was hit already
Should have inserted the RAZA tickets clip, along with "tickets please" guy from Rick and Morty
I agree with everything you said, but what operators are putting a 12K game on location? I was an all in person for this theme until I saw TS4. Ugh. It looks fun as hell (minus the ipad) though! Hope there is a location nearby that gets one.
Rip JJP Terrible release
I think we can all agree this isn’t the theme we all wanted.
That said I’m surprised that despite that the CEs went so quickly.
I never expect any pin value to drop but I do think these will come down a bit and JJP will move on to another title announcement later this year.
Even if I could afford a pinball machine I definitely wouldn't spend $12,000 on just any game. I believe I can get Twilight Zone for the same price and that is my number one favorite game.
Check us out, $1800 for one of the coolest games that is going to drop. Promos/gameplay coming soon.
I'm going to make a licensed pinball starting at 18K to justify the chip shortage, lack of workers, and the unexplained fuel hike
If Heist wasn't already taken it would have been a perfect name for this game.
Great take as always Cary, guess we gotta play this thing to see what’s what and if it’s worth anything close to what it costs. I’ve always said Wonka sounds like a casino machine so I guess this is no different, ugh
I know pinball is a big toy, but I don't want it to sound like one. lol
Check us out. We are launching a really cool game for $1800 with a bunch of unique features yet to be shown.
CE always sell because there is enough collectors/speculators in the hobby to support. I think LE sales will show what the general pinball purchasers think about the price/game. It's definitely made me sit this one out. I'm a buyer it 9-10k but not 12k.
Liked before I even watch Cary is the man
Asked my kids who are 9 and 11 they gave me a weird look and said no
Hate to say it but it had to be TS4 it's a license issue with Disney and really just comes down to that.
I been waiting for this video.
Love the Donkey Kong music in your video.
Crazy!
Meanwhile, people selling TAF for 15k lol and pirates with no Johnny for 30k+
hahaha the amazon reference. Great analysis! 18 months...
You sold your credence tapes?
Venom is next
@@CasperInkyMagoo the acronym use for pins cracks me up.
@@CasperInkyMagoo “You’re lucky they left the tape deck though………and the Creedence.”
Check us out, $1800 for one of the coolest games that is going to drop. Promos/gameplay coming soon.
My kids love their tablets and collect cake topper type toys. 15k CE no brainer.. .. .
I completely agree with you, specifically the large monitor inside!
Aside from the positives and negatives of the new JJP game…
I doubt the license explains it
Everybody knew prices would go up…I already made reference to that issue a couple months ago on another video comment section.
@Kwistenbiebel200 exactly, completely agree! It was predictable and it will get worse!
Take a look at Pinball Universe, a German seller. The LE is estimated to cost €14,600. I feel like it's just getting out of hand
@@SkatelowMC completely agree!
Even with the license do you think there next release they lower the price back to 11k. I bet they don’t
Great Video! My thoughts exactly on all points
seeing the commercially available toys is so disappointing. they are charging 12 to 15k.
But definitely a location game for me
Loved the video as always...you only missed the big issue regarding the assets...all the movie clips are muted! like in Wonka...that is bs!
That's funny I just watched TS4 today too for the first time. And yes, it's the worst one. And yes! Key & Peele - best part.
Also - that Toy Set it $11 on Ebay ;)
i agree
Cactus Canyon best game for the price on the market not even close
As of September 2024 so 2 years after release, the $12,000 LE vsrsion can be fiund used for $8,000. Thats a pretty big drop off.
Dude I want to buy JM. Lol. It looks so good.
Great honest reviews as usual. Great first impression video 👍
Also loved the background music. Was that Banjo Kazooie music at one point?
Nope. My usual "go to" of Donkey Kong Country.
So they put a bigger Dialed in phone on this game. Sweet. :/
Wow what a disappointment man. Toy story in general would have been better. A slinky dog ramp similar to the snake skeleton in Elvira would have been awesome
Yeah or like a Buzz lightyear kickback or Army men drop targets
I'd take a stern godvilla over this any day
Good luck trying to introduce pinball to kids with this machine because no on-location is going to fork over $12k. They would need 12k plays before they ever see a return.
I’ve come across two JJP’s across many arcades near me. The price does seem to inhibit their presence, which is unfortunate.
It's the disney tax.
Not many families buying a pin with everything going on in the economy let alone at the Toy Story JJP prices.
You could get a motorcycle for less, and have more fun. Sure, you won't die playing pinball, but for me it's a toss up of fun...
With the market on pinball. That's what I have been doing for extra cash. Buying and flipping motorcycles.
Good vid. Enough said.
Easy to achieve and extremely hard to achieve is a mixed bag. You have players who live for a challenge and players who just want an experience under glass. As for price Jersey jack is always to expensive in my opinion but then stern loves 1000 dollar toppers worth two bucks so ugh lol
Cary Hardy is so handsome
My 'handsome' cream must be working! That stuff wasn't cheap!
That intro!!!
