they really should've left out her divorce. she even says in the video that its just for her fans that really care...not everyone that watches the news.
I think they did that to drive home how close her fans are to her.

Everything they say is that it is a comedy about miranda, and a lot of people will see the first episode and not really like it, cause miranda is a very weird type of comedy.
I have to say, Haters Back Off is actually emotional towards the end and it has such a beautiful and important message... I cried so much in the last episode. It's really amazing!

I don't like how they showed the divorce video on national television!! They could've just said it
They could have just said it, but they didn't...because unless you already know Colleen and Josh (in which case you already know what happened) - their split is only newsworthy because it was put online.
Some people say the divorce is a publicity stunt, times for the Netflix release. I don't believe that Colleen (or Josh!) would do that, but I do think that the divorce video belongs in any story about Colleen's success.

Paparazzi don't follow Colleen around. Josh isn't being stalked by People magazine. Their divorce is only online (and on TV) because they filmed it.
People who want to be left alone do this: a simple written announcement posted to Facebook, Twitter, RUclips, IG (or whatever social media platforms they use).
They announce (in writing!, not video or audio) that they are ending their marriage. They explain that nobody cheated, say that the decision was not made lightly, thank everyone for their kindness and support, and say that they will be taking a break from all social media. Then they ask for privacy during this difficult time.
Finally, they close their comment sections and post nothing online for at least one or two weeks.

Regarding the divorce segment: Even though these are public RUclips videos, they still need written consent on which videos to put on their show. So Colleen & Josh both gave permission for those clips to air, if I'm not mistaken. And one person in the comments here said something smart. They seemed to be using it as a way to drive home how close she is to her fans. It didn't seem malicious. And they really did a great job promoting the show. If anything those clips will benefit Haters Back Off, not the Today Show.
Colleen, if you are reading this, I just wanted to say that I love you. You have gotten me through so much in life, and you mean so much to me. I have watched since the beginning, when you were just sitting in your room filming fun videos. And now, millions of subscribers, a book, a tour and a netflix show. Your journey is incredible, and I can't wait to see what you do next.
As someone who isn't really a fan of Miranda and her RUclips videos, 'Haters back off' as a Netflix show is actually pretty good and more hard hitting than you'd ever think.

Colleen is a fresh, original talent, with a character who is not quite like anyone else in the world. Mix Martin Short's Ed Grimley and Molly Shannon's Mary-Catherine Gallagher, with a dash of Christopher Guest's numerous untalented, super-confident characters, and you still don't quiiiiiite have the bizarre, awkward, delightful weirdo Miranda.
Noah Henson Great way to explain the show! I am 30 years old, and I am not one of her longtime fans ... didn't discover her until last year... but her comedy is seriously fantastic. The show and the character and honestly brilliant and the storyline is really really good.

The reason she's so funny is because she's self-delusional. Same reason Don Knotts was so funny as Barney Fife.
Now this makes me think if the divorce was a publicity stunt to promote her show. When they have been having problems for many months prior to this, why would she choose such a time to announce this to the world? Seems very fishy. Maybe its not Coleen's fault. Maybe it was the producers or other Hollywood people, higher up the ladder who told her to do this?

Ok, I thought there would have been some really good humor in Haters Back Off, like funny one liners and punchlines. The characters were weirdly silly and parts of the plot seemed a bit far fetched. Then the season ended on an insanely dramatic note. I love Miranda and I guess I just expected to laugh more, but the show was too weird for that. Maybe more experience is needed in the writing, directing and producing.
I always find it so odd when Colleen is Colleen in Miranda costume.
