  • Located in the Petrópolis mountains, just an hour and a half from Rio de Janeiro, this house is the chosen retreat for a couple to spend their weekends and vacations with their children and friends. Situated in a magical environment, amidst winding mountains and the Atlantic Forest, it resembles a hideaway from civilization.
The architecture of the house has been integrated with nature, seeking harmony with the terrain. Often, the construction elements have been concealed within the natural unevenness of the site, creating a kind of mimicry with the surrounding landscape. The construction is distributed throughout the terrain, predominantly single-story and composed of different independent blocks.
The use of concrete structures and garden roofs allows the house to harmoniously connect with the topography, while a lattice of laminated wood stands out in the landscape, creating a succession of structural porches. This construction system transfers architectural functions to the structural elements. The vertical wooden pieces transform into brises, providing visual protection and thermal comfort, while the horizontal ones serve as roof lining.
Access to the house is made through a cobblestone path that leads to a suspended volume, creating an entrance porch with a breathtaking view of the rocky mountains in the background.
The house has a linear layout, with an annex housing the living room. On the ground floor, there are the living and dining rooms, a powder room, kitchen, pantry, suites, and a balcony overlooking the pool and SPA. The property features a natural pool spanning over 700 square meters. The suites have pivoting slatted panels for closure. The lower level includes the garage, office, powder room, service areas, and a home theater.
The fireplace and internal gardens help regulate the temperature. Large glass panels and skylights allow natural light to enter, creating bright spaces.
The house offers different sensations depending on the lighting. During the day, the porches create an stimulating interplay of light and shadow, while at night, the lighting makes the environment even more welcoming.

Thank you for the channel. Your videos are so nice and so consistent. They each carry the same slow stressless pace, same format from title block at the beginning to floor plans at the end. Very well executed. Fantastic! And of course, the showcasing of the house is always so enjoyable, so wonderful.

    👍Nice!🏆Nice!👍
All that wood does give it a nice warm feel for it’s size.
With the excessive amount of concrete used in some houses in this style it can make them look a little bit like they are military bunkers or public use buildings , like libraries and visitor center.
It is fine line between utility building, office, museum, or a home when it comes homes in similar styles to this.
