Convert to Islam just for the business project?
Isn't that an offense in itself?
The irony because they are coping of an english clock.
@@Tod_oMal not really. Muslims aren't allowed to question the sincerity of any revert. That is for god to judge
The construction workers without harnesses were making me so nervous😭😭😭
@@jonnygzz1631 like watching old films of builders in America who assembled the bridges and early high rise buildings.
Walking around with a hammer in one hand and a beer bottle.
I'm surprised that you don't mention the actual gripe muslims have with this tower, that it is taking away the focal point from Kabaa, and that it's seen as materialism and opulence towering over religiosity/spirituality.
I can tell you that most Muslims don't like this building, and for a good reason. On one hand you have people wearing nothing but black and white sheet of clothings symbolizing earthly detachment and then you look up and see this gold-plated montrosity just towering over them.
No His Handlers the Suadi gov wouldn't allow that.
Well buildings are cultural structures no matter where they are built. They are not necessarily built for the current generation but built for longevity. I think instead, this building will attract more muslims to the sight of prayer which is the main purpose for this building. And perhaps it IS an offering to their God for wealth that they have.
I've seen this building multiple times since I was a child and never saw any issue with it. Not heard a single person complain about it even the more conservative people I know just see it as a clock tower. The biggest issue I've heard is that it is too close so people get congested between it and the haram
It looks like a Las Vegas hotel haha. Those blocky side towers.
I agree with you, you have a good knowledge about that

😂😂😂😂 never heard of it wat a waste of money 💰
I haven't heard of it.
He means it doesn't feature much in skyscraper talks, which is true. There's even little info on it online.
Well his not lying, I'm an architecture enthusiast and know very little about it
As an avid skyscraper enthusiast, I knew of this project pretty early on in construction. The fact it's something like seven towers all together with them all being very tall is just massive, not to mention the clock that dwarfs all. I thought the complex had over 7,000 hotel rooms or something equally insane but makes sense when they'll be busy for the Hajj.
Well, that works out to about $2 million$ per hotel room. But there are other revenue producing spaces. It's close to being in the "profitable" range believe it or not.
Tacky beyond belief.
Came here to say that. It is a monument to the kitsch sense of taste in the region.

the size of the building and the clock is really mindblowing
True, it has the shape of a "typical such clock tower" (if there is such a thing), but you notice that it is really much larger, when you consider the multi-story shape on the top, or the walkable clock hands... I wonder if the latter has actually ever been seriously conceived or built before.

Yeah, I wonder if it is possible to convert back and forth for people who are already Christian or Jewish or something... Do they even accept Jews, or are they somehow more restrictive about that particular religion?
But ok, when people ever ask me "under which circumstance would you consider converting to Islam or some religion", then this is probably an answer I could give.
That's the Saudis being over the top, Islam doesn't say that
Finally seeing this on a video is great, it's one of the most amazing new builds in years and is genuinely stunning
imagine having to explain why you're late for work in that city
For the people wondering why non Muslims cannot enter Makkah, it is because it's not a tourist destination. It strictly serves a spiritual functionality.
It is sectarian and the reason is irrelevant.
@@peterdavenport8495 I don't want Kuffar in Mecca.
@@peterdavenport8495 no it's not. Aa members only entry club is not discriminatory because there is nothing stopping you from converting
Mecca always was and has been a site for religious pilgrims to flock to from across Arabia. Its is most certainly 100% a tourist destination just like any other religious pilgrimage site. The fact that the Saudi's and Islamic doctrine are discriminating against everyone else is because 2-3 million Muslims a year brings in more than enough money already, not to mention having access to a market of over 1.5 billion customers worldwide. Going to Mecca to chase a specific fairytale is no different than visiting the Vatican, the Ganges or Jerusalem.
Well its a discriminatory if you think none of the other religious places have no outsiders law except I believe Jerusalem which also prohibits non muslims in the mosque area.
That oil money is truly something. The architecture is pretty nice. Understandably such a structure is built on a religious site. The only way it really makes any sense.
Fragile masculinity, the clock tower version.
Glad I got to watch this before B1M takes it down or disables comments. lol

To be fair, if it were most any other muslim country , the engineers would probably be let inside and they'll just shrug it off citing "darurah" (necessity). But it was Saudi Arabia we're talking about.
Yeah, it is.
Money is money 🤑🤑
If their own country has freedom of religion they can convert back again when they get home as no Islamic law in their country. Although that would go against Islam but who knows by then but their own conscience.
That's crazy! I did not know it was that tall! I've seen pictures of it before but did not truly understand the height of it. Wild bit of engineering for sure

Every Muslim that I know who has been to Makkah finds the building objectionable. It dominates the Masjid al-Haram, which many find offensive. I've been told that most of the hotel guests are tourists rather than carrying out the Hajj or Umrah. Certainly, the person that I know who has stayed there went for the hotel facilies rather than for religious reasons.
A Muslim does not have to go on the Hajj. They only go if they can afford to do so and are physically able to cope. The cost of doing so these days is so expensive that fewer people can afford to go. Most Muslims that I know would love to go, but can only afford to do Umrah. Despite the costs, more wish to go on the Hajj than there are places available. However, few would be able to afford to stay in this hotel, and would have to stay in the tent city created for each years pilgrimage.

Double standards
The Vatican is open to visitors of all faiths, including Muslims. In contrast, non-Muslims are banned from entering Mecca.
Muslims have met with the Pope and participated in services at the Vatican. The Vatican also hosts fellowships that bring non-Christians, including Muslims, to study Christianity
So many of our global allies still use segregation... An Americans don't even bat an eye.
Makkah is a "holy place," and it serves no purpose to you if you're a non muslim. Dont see why you need to get mad at that lol.

IF IT WASN'T THAT CLOSE TO THE KAABA.
Speaking as a non-Muslim, I really firmly believe that this HUGE clocktower is too close to the Holy, Sacred Center of the Muslim World.
Just looking at the aerial photographs of Makkah, you can already tell that the huge clock WILL steal people's eyes from the real symbol of Islam. (Of course, if those that are seeing the pictures are not Muslim themselves.)
Still, it wouldn't look bad in the middle of a city, looks Steampunky in a way.
Omg tons of negative comments!! I honestly enjoyed learning about this its such a unique like royal high end luxury building to resemble something love it
Don't worry one day MBS will open it up to everyone. The fact is if it's not only for Muslims it will be even more overcrowded as it is now. Perhaps a virtual version will do for decades to come.
