Mainstream recognition is absolutely vital to our genre’s survival. Without it, investments aren’t made which is exactly how we got in the rut of everything sounding alike. The same plug ins and virtual instruments make for very similar music and a consequential lack of interest. Congrats to Spiritbox for achieving the charts!

So true! Metallica was huge for pushing Metal back into the mainstream, and launched a wave of new bands etc. Pop and Hip-Hop have nothing new to offer anymore. The best days for both of those genres are stuck in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s.
Metal needs to be looked at a lot closer once again!

I couldn't agree more. Having a band re-define what people call "radio rock" is what we need. Seeing bands like Spiritbox being played on Octane gives me hope that more bands of the scene get that mainstream recognition and I can turn on Octane without hearing 5FDP every day.

I enjoyed this interview a lot. You’re a way cool down to earth couple & great musicians. You are as unique as the music. Listening to it and then hearing it live is quite an experience.
This is one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen. These questions (and the answers too, wow) made Spiritbox even more interesting. I’m a single father of an awesome autistic son. I’m a school bus driver - that is rewarding but does get intense at times. This is one of those bands that inspires me to keep playing guitar and keep finding my own groove - not only in music but in life. I’ve always been a fan of artists who create art for the sake of what they’re communicating to the world. Music is one of the things that makes people feel the human experience. You really got down deep to the heart of what really matters simply by having an appreciation for Spiritbox.

The sequencing is what impressed me the most, about this album - it really tied the album together and allowed the amazing production to shine, as amazing as it did.
The flow was flawless. It didn’t have the clunkiness, majority of albums have, when switching from one track to the next.
I, fully, believe Eternal Blue set such a fantastic example, for exemplary album production, truly.

Of all the things you could criticize about the album, how the hell are people criticizing the sequencing? It's perfect. I can't even tell when one song ends and another begins. Maybe there's so little to criticize from such a good album that they fixate on something as insignificant as sequencing.

    • @XOChristianaNicole
      @XOChristianaNicole 2 года назад +6

The sequencing was what really caught my attention, the first time I heard this album - it’s absolutely immaculate. I’d say the top thing I listen for, when checking out and album/band for the first time, is their sequencing. Majority of the time, I’m pretty disappointed- which, is often why I don’t listen to albums all the way through. If an album’s, simply, gonna feel like a playlist of the same band, where it seems there isn’t much consideration to the flow - I might as well put it in the order I want; what difference does it make?
One of the best metal album sequencing - and all around album; as well as my very first metal album, I ever purchased..
Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies.

Why are metal comment sections such cancer? So many dudes on here just throwing huge generalizations out and acting like their opinion is fact because they dont understand modern metal and either prefer the "good ol days" or think some underground deathcore act with 1000 monthly listeners should be album of the year cos its heavier than a metalcore bands album. Metalheads actually think theyre smarter than they are😂

It's not about the "good ol' days" it's just that Spiritbox is bland and pop disguised as metal. It's nothing new, and thrash metal from the 80s is dead too. Metal is just a dying genre that refuses to do anything interesting. Modern metal is a joke.

@@dexxfilm you really have no clue what ur on about if spiritbox is considered pop to you. You may have a point about metal dying at least in any mainstream relevance but its more than alive in the underground if u dont like any of it then thats on you but theres millions who do. Id consider that a good thing. Enjoy the stuff u enjoy and let people like this new generation despite what u think about it

I love new school metal but everyone is pushing Spiritbox like they're the greatest band in the scene when they really aren't lmao. Their riffs are wannabe djent lord material which is already LITTERED in metalcore post 2010. I find Courtney to be extremely overrated as well, but not bad by any means. Even the title of this video "How Spiritbox’s ‘Eternal Blue’ Is Changing the Future of Heavy Music" is an extreme over statement. How are they changing the future of "heavy music"? What about this album screams unique? The production is good but the album as a whole is full of things that have been done before, there's nothing in there that would "change the future of heavy music." Also you don't "have to understand modern metal" to make a critique about it. I understand it perfectly well and I'll still stand my statements. Jinjer is everything Spiritbox wishes they could be anyways lmao.

You should add the name of the questions in the scroll bar like every modern media. It really ease the view.

Love the new stuff and the old stuff. Like if a style like Trust Fall or The Mara Effect III on the second album would be insane

I’m really diggin this band and EB is such a good album 🔥 I don’t know about changing the genre, but I’m excited for the future to see where they take this. Their not reinventing anything.

I fell in love at first listen. Also, heard more about spiritbox from nik nocturnal. Keep it up and love how you both have such a good attitude towards it all.
