those fans criticizing the sequencing are killing my buzz. I’m insanely stoked for you guys :) your guitar riffs make me happy. your vocals make me happy. your music as a whole is getting me back into metal! You’ll kill it live boo
I'm freaking old (over 50), and think this is the best metal vocal album I've heard all year. So incredibly cohesive and just fantastic. Don't care if it was sampled, or made in tupperware and tinfoil.
I am 37, and I don't care either. I am too old to justify what I like anymore lol. If I like it, I like it. The album was 👍 I loved it, and it's on every device I have. So us oldies will just keep on keeping on lol
Mainstream recognition is absolutely vital to our genre’s survival. Without it, investments aren’t made which is exactly how we got in the rut of everything sounding alike. The same plug ins and virtual instruments make for very similar music and a consequential lack of interest. Congrats to Spiritbox for achieving the charts!
So true! Metallica was huge for pushing Metal back into the mainstream, and launched a wave of new bands etc. Pop and Hip-Hop have nothing new to offer anymore. The best days for both of those genres are stuck in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. Metal needs to be looked at a lot closer once again!
I couldn't agree more. Having a band re-define what people call "radio rock" is what we need. Seeing bands like Spiritbox being played on Octane gives me hope that more bands of the scene get that mainstream recognition and I can turn on Octane without hearing 5FDP every day.
im an 80s kid. i rarely explore the latest artists. but when i discovered Spiritbox, i listened to them for weeks, almost exclusively! I cant even sleep without listening to my playlist of them. Hey are phenomenal. They deserve to be one of the legends in the music history. Thanks for the music guys! 🎶 Enjoy your journey to greatness! 🤘🤘🤘
I cannot say how many times I've listened to the album straight through. The effortless transitions between the first 3 songs are incredible. I didn't care for heavy metal before them. Thanks for opening me up!
This album means the world to me :) thank you guys for writing incredible, heartfelt lyrics and for being so poetic yet honest. I love you guys I’ll be at your show in March!
I was wondering what Mike Stringer's demeanor would be like. He has such a laid back way about him compared to his riffs. Cool how he's a guitarist and his last name is Stringer.
I listened to metal for a long time when I was growing up. Stopped it for a bit and you guys got me back in a big way! Huge huge fan! You were a covid blessing. Have a ton of your merch, vinyl, and hope to see you Feb 2022.
I was listening to it high earlier and I thought the same thing. Especially on Circle With Me, it's like I'm fuckin levitating. Same feeling I get when I listen to Deftones or TOOL and a few other bands. Pretty dope
I absolutely love the idea that the songs for them change from the artist song to the listeners song. That is an amazing interpretation of the gift that is music. I cant wait to see you guys live and am very excited to hear whats next.
Specifically, the decisions to open Sunkiller, Hurt You, Yellow Jacket, to go Silk in the Strings to Holy Roller and to close with Constance are perfect. Wait, The Summit is also perfect... wait, the whole sequence is as well-thought out as a Tool album.
I enjoyed this interview a lot. You’re a way cool down to earth couple & great musicians. You are as unique as the music. Listening to it and then hearing it live is quite an experience. This is one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen. These questions (and the answers too, wow) made Spiritbox even more interesting. I’m a single father of an awesome autistic son. I’m a school bus driver - that is rewarding but does get intense at times. This is one of those bands that inspires me to keep playing guitar and keep finding my own groove - not only in music but in life. I’ve always been a fan of artists who create art for the sake of what they’re communicating to the world. Music is one of the things that makes people feel the human experience. You really got down deep to the heart of what really matters simply by having an appreciation for Spiritbox.
Anyone complaining about the sequencing has no clue what they're talking about. There's no other order this album could have possibly been laid out in, it's perfect.
The sequencing is what impressed me the most, about this album - it really tied the album together and allowed the amazing production to shine, as amazing as it did. The flow was flawless. It didn’t have the clunkiness, majority of albums have, when switching from one track to the next. I, fully, believe Eternal Blue set such a fantastic example, for exemplary album production, truly.
I absolutely adore this album! It’s everything I could have hoped for and more! Spiritbox are one of my favourite bands and I want them to know how much their music means to a lot of us 💙
I looovveddd the sequencing!! It’s a beautifully ordered masterpiece from top to bottom! When I first listened the whole way through, it really took me on a whole ass journey💙🤍 you can feel the intention and harmony w each track flowing to the next. thank you for creating one of my all time favorite albums and for existing you guys, i cannot WAIT to see you live and continue to watch you evolve😍😛😁😁😁
This album is a got-dayum masterpiece and FEELS like an album. It's heavy and goes real heavy but then pulls back into ethereal beauty. Stoked to see them in LA this Thursday at the Wiltern!!
Thanks Spiritbox, if you're reading. You deserve the success. I heard you say you're fed up with everyone saying how awesome you are, etc, so whatever it is you're doing, please keep doing it! I had a ticket for Manchester 4 days after your tour was cancelled because of the pandemic. I'll be there when you make it back to tour the UK.
There are moments in this album that sound so seamless. Interwoven industrial beats and ambient melodic melodies mix with heavy drums and guitar riffs. Gives it a very good theme.
Of all the things you could criticize about the album, how the hell are people criticizing the sequencing? It's perfect. I can't even tell when one song ends and another begins. Maybe there's so little to criticize from such a good album that they fixate on something as insignificant as sequencing.
The sequencing flowed perfectly on this album. I was listening to it in my car the Friday morning it came out and I actually thought to myself how seamlessly the songs blended together. People are just nitpicking to nitpick at this point lol
The sequencing was what really caught my attention, the first time I heard this album - it’s absolutely immaculate. I’d say the top thing I listen for, when checking out and album/band for the first time, is their sequencing. Majority of the time, I’m pretty disappointed- which, is often why I don’t listen to albums all the way through. If an album’s, simply, gonna feel like a playlist of the same band, where it seems there isn’t much consideration to the flow - I might as well put it in the order I want; what difference does it make? One of the best metal album sequencing - and all around album; as well as my very first metal album, I ever purchased.. Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies.
Keep making music for yourselves... the masses will latch on to songs they like and criticize the ones they don't. It's all for you... make it fun for you. Love y'all from Texas
I actually think the album is perfectly sequenced and i tend to put a lot of stock in how/where songs are arranged within a record. Can totally make or break a listening experience (especially on first playthrough), but i thought eternal blue nailed it.
courtney hands down is my favorite female vocalist and songwriter in the metal scene right now. perhaps in a very long time. also, heard she lived in maine where i live for a little while which is pretty cool!
Just seen them at LOUDER THAN LIFE in Louisville they tour the place down !!!! 160,000 .... Body count, I got to meet Mike in the head bangers bar and shook his hand probably 10 times and talked for at least 15 minutes one of the nicest and soft spoken person I've ever met I absolutely love spirtbox top 5 favorite bands of all time .......
I remember the first time I stumbled onto Spiritbox I miraculously landed on the Belcarra music video, I was like...WTF is this and who is this lady dancing funny to metal xD. After my second time coming across the video I was like holy shit this song is fucking sick and heavy, and then I went down the Spiritbox rabbit whole. They only had the first two ep's out which kinda bummed me out cause I wanted more Spiritbox. I think they're a huge inspiration in my musical journey, love learning their songs too. So glad they've blown up so much and are always making sick fucking music \m/ Keep doing what you're doing!!
Their range as a band and her range as a singer is what makes them so special. The bass slaps, the guitar and rip hard or be melodic. The damn drums are even great. Love them. Silk in the strings is my new favorite.
Though this isn't my personal favorite record of the year, I do really enjoy it, and I'm proud of them. It's well written and accessible, but still heavy and meaningful. They're all very talented and seem like a great group of people.
Just saw these guys 2 days ago (9.6.22) opening for Ghost. They did a 20 minute set and were quite good. I liked them enough to come looking for them on youtube, if that says anything. And they seem like down to earth people too.
“Nobody wants rock an metal to be in the mainstream” wth was the interviewer talking about!? From the 60s to the early 90s rock WAS the mainstream. I’d love to see it again!
They are a WONDERFUL freaking band. So talented, all of them. So happy for them that they are achieving the success and recognition they deserve. New fan here; been listening about a month, but I'm so impressed by the entire catalogue so far that I don't think I'll ever not be a fan again. Can't wait to see them live here at some point in the near-ish future!
Both albums are spectacular. I can't wait to follow them more, I was a fan of the stuff they did with IWABO, and the music of Spiritbox is just so groove heavy and intense and emotional. Seriously Eternal Blue is fucking amazing. Can't wait to see y'all on tour!
The more I listen to this album the more I like it. It’s the perfect blend of crushing heaviness and melody. I don’t agree that they are metalcore they are more like a more melodic Meshuggah. They have djent riffs not metalcore ones.
Bruh… the sequencing was perfect in the aspect of flowing like a wave. High, energetic caps to low, slower heartstring pickers. The album is supposed to flow.. for me like a heart rate and soul trying to escape from as well as being drawn back into depression. Just me though.
I love this album. I've been listening to this album everyday. Keep up the great work can't wait to for the next one. Hopefully you guys come to El Paso. 🤘🤘

Metalheads actually think theyre smarter than they are😂
It's not about the "good ol' days" it's just that Spiritbox is bland and pop disguised as metal. It's nothing new, and thrash metal from the 80s is dead too. Metal is just a dying genre that refuses to do anything interesting. Modern metal is a joke.

I love new school metal but everyone is pushing Spiritbox like they're the greatest band in the scene when they really aren't lmao.
