I have used capos for 2 decades of my 26 years of playing the guitar. They are tools to expand the guitar, and can be tastefully done! Antoine Dufour and Trace Bundy showed us this a long time ago 😊

If tuning your guitar to anything but EADGBe isn't cheating then multiple capos isn't cheating. Purists need to simmer down 😂

Capo on bass doesn't make much sense unless you're playing open string chords.

Some capo shapes do not match some guitar neck shapes. My standard Kyser capos allow me to skip the outermost string on all of my guitars-except one that hat has a really deep (thick) profile. My standard Shubb capo will only allow me to skip an outermost string on ONE of my guitars…one with a rather flat profile.
Capos come in different shapes and sizes and some fit some better than others- and stay in tune better on some guitar necks and setups than others. I have a collection of capos made by different companies and that use differing clamping methods so I can cover all my needs. I also modify capos for special needs. I cut down the length of a standard Kyser, for example, to leave 2 strings free while keeping the clamp pad on the back of the neck in the correct position for proper tension.
The name of the game is experiment & adapt!

A mí me funcionó. Saludos.

@@gustavoortego5838 , When I saw your first comment, the RUclips chat system offered me the option to translate your comment, so I did and then responded because I have some experience with using lots of capos. However, I cannot read your new comment, because the RUclips system no longer shows a “translate” option and this mobile version does not allow me to copy the text to paste into a translator. So, with my lack of Spanish vocabulary, I am unable to read or respond to your new comment.

Hello Kirk. Now I'm going by the google translator; sorry in advance for any mistakes.
In my case, not having found a partial capo, I have tried an ukulele capo, which are shorter. You put it on the guitar, mark the part of the rubber that rests on the 6th string, cut that section, and it will work fine. Strings 1, 2 and 6 are completely exposed and do not rub against the capo. It worked for me, with my acoustic Yamaha FG411CE-VS and my Fender Strato MIM. But I must have the complete capo 2 or 3 frets before, so that when pressing the 6th string I lower it a little and pass well under the 2nd capo, without touching the top of it. I think the latter would not happen with Nashville tunning, using a 6 of the same (sort of) thickness as the 1. Regards.

@@gustavoortego5838 Thank you for translating! I will try to use English vocabulary and construction that is easier for a translator to work on.
Yes, some guitars can accept ukulele capos; thicker necks or fingerboards with a radius below 10-12” often cannot. The ukulele necks have very different dimensions than guitars and often cannot clamp the guitar neck properly.
I know some guitarists who use capos for banjos to do partial clamping. The banjo neck is closer to the thickness dimension. As I mentioned before, I sometimes experiment by cutting standard guitar capos to get the best fit on the back of the neck and still press down on the strings. In fact, this is how the Shubb company got the idea for their original partial capo that simulates DADGAD tuning.
Because neck widths can be narrow or wide, cutting your own capo also allows you to get the best fit for the particular guitar you are using. I cannot use the same capo to do a partial clamping on both my wide neck acoustic (that I use for fingerstyle playing) and my 335-style electric with a very narrow neck. Cutting Kyser capos is pretty easy. On some capos, you don’t cut the clamping bar-you cut the rubber that touches the string. You can do this even on the capos that wrap all the way around the neck.
