I purchased elsewhere new key fobs for my 07 Toyota Avalon and was able to get the car in programming mode by following online directions on the internet. Learning this process was time consuming. Once I figured out that the car would not go into programming mode because the sunroof was open, the rest was relatively easy. Accordingly I tried doing the same with my 2011 Tundra, which I recently purchased used, with a busted door lock. Despite strictly following the online directions, I was unable to get the Truck into programming mode. Out of frustration I ordered the Toms Programmer. I doubted it would work and be as easy to use as promised, but IT WAS!!!! Quick and Easy. No problem getting the truck into programming mode and programming my new fobs. Thank you TomsKeys for helping me out..... BTW, i was not paid not provided any promotion or discount for this review. it is an honest review. I would use their service again.

2013 Toyota tundra. The key fob itself cost $110 before taxes and they tried to charge me another 150 to program it! I asked the clerk if it was something that I could do myself and he tried to BS me and tell me there’s no way I could do it myself. Thanks for approving those jerks wrong and saving me money!

Programming was so easy a caveman could do it. Took me about 20 minutes to add 2 new sets of keys for my 2016 tundra. I suggest watching the video first and then while watching the video during the second time, follow along. It's very easy to do. Dealer wanted $50 for each key plus $90 for programming each key. Dealer also wanted $50 for the FOB and $90 for the programming each. This was going to cost me $400!! I did it myself for $150 including rental from Tom, keys, fobs, and cutting the keys at a locksmith. Thank you very much Tom!! This step by step video was perfect. I will add one thing. If you receive a phone from Tom, I would connect to your Wi-Fi first. It made everything work seamlessly. A+

Used Tom's Key for programming a couple of fobs on a 08 Sequoia. It worked wonderfully and saved me a ton vs. the dealership. If you have a Sequoia, I note that the car did not beep to confirm that the remote was programmed (took me a few attempts to realize this). However, they work fine.

Whoa! Easy programming and excellent video demonstration to follow. Thank you so much for the money saved. The Key Fob was so easy to program following the video. However, it is not the same the Key or Key Transponder. The key requires several steps to program and can get confusing. I have completed numerous repetition to get it done while my PC is in front me watching the video. There is no timing out and can repeat the process till you get it done successfully. Just a suggestion, the video should include a much much slower step by step process so anybody (anybody with the attention span of a sparrow) can remember and follow the video.

I have a 2016 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro that I bought used, but it came with a second key and FOB that was obviously not for my truck.
After searching the forums, I ran across mention of Tom's Key Company.
I used their key cutting service where you upload pictures of your key, making sure that I had the clearest picture possible without any shadows around the key's edge.
(Tip: After several tries at taking pictures, I used a blue latex glove laying on a table and held the key up in light that was warm white and made sure glare was at a minimum.)
That aside, I ordered a total of 2 cut keys and 1 FOB along with renting their programmer, which gave me 3 complete sets of keys and FOBS.
I already downloaded the app to my phone, but found they sent a phone with the software already on it.
To minimize potential software/hardware compatibility issues in the middle of programming, I decided to use their phone.
Unfortunately, whomever rented it last hadn't charged it before returning it, so the phone was at 0% battery level. (Please be kind and recharge the phone before returning it!)
Fortunately, I just followed the prompts on theor phone, let it automatically decide on the key type on it's own and it all worked beautifully!!!
I'm now the proud owner of 3 working transponder keys and 3 working remote FOBs for my Tundra!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING ME BY PROVIDING SUCH A GREAT PRODUCT AND SERVICE!!!

I have a 2012 Toyota Tundra: I needed a spare key so I purchased an OEM key blank from an online Toyota dealer. The local Toyota Dealer wanted $210 to program the key and a local locksmith wanted $140 to do it. I ordered this kit and could not be happier. It is as easy as it looks in the video and it worked perfectly. I had the local Ace hardware cut the key to match the master. After completing the process and testing, I packed it up with the free return shipping label and sent it off. How easy is that? And saved a bunch of money too. Five stars ***** Thank you very much.

HI you need one working key that starts your vehicle to make a spare. It is advisable to use the correct key fob for your specific vehicle to ensure proper functionality and security.
If you are talking about the programmer, the programmer gets paired to the VIN number of the first vehicle you program. It can make several keys for that vehicle. But for a different vehicle you need to get another programmer. Pls. reach out to us at at help@tomskey.com and tell us your vehicle info so we can help.

The reason I couldn’t programing my new key fob remote to my 2017 Tundra SR. Because when the car was built the Toyota manufacturing didn’t build a software or install remote receiver system into ECU Engine Computer Programmed. That’s the reason why failed to communicate. Now I had remote starter so I can use my remote to lock and unlock instead use key to insert the door to lock or open. Tom’s Key company was great not thing wrong with them equipments just my car didn’t have remote receiver system in it.😁

So it was inconveniently for me to lock and open door so I did order two keys and two key fobs remote after market to programing it to my Truck these two key working great but key fobs remote doesn’t work. And I did call a guy from Lock Smith came to programing too and he couldn’t programing either so I went to Toyota dealer a guy work there check my vehicle vin# he told me that my Truck didn’t had a software that be able to receiver any outcome key fob remote. If I’m going to do key fobs remote with additional software to my Truck will cost me more $$$ so he recommended me remote starter way cheaper. I don’t know it’s happening to any models of Toyota Tundra SR or just mind..

How do you get the truck out of program mode. I have a 2019 and the lock light in the dash is just flashing when no key is in the ignition just like yours is in the end of the video. Does it just shut off after a certain amount of time.

    • @TomahawkDIY
      @TomahawkDIY  3 года назад

That red light flashes whenever there is nota oriented key in the ignition. It will turn off when you insert a programmed key. Programming mode is only when the red light turned on solid for more than 2 seconds.

Ok thanks yeah I'm finding out that this is a normal condition. The light does turn off after key is inserted. The light wasn't flashing before without a key and now it is. We have had the truck for almost 2 weeks. Not sure what's going on but I'm not gonna worry about it.

Jim Engert if it was originally purchased by an indiviso consumer, it should be able to add the remote. However, some Tundra were purchased add a work (fleet) vehicle. See if you can find that out. The work truck package does NOT include remote receiver, so you could not add one except with a kit. Work package is usually heavy duty floor mats, vinyl seating, no carpet. Here's an aftermarket kit people use.
