Programmed a $12 fob that I bought on Amazon with with 19 year old son using these steps. His mouth gaped open in amazement after 1 successful attempt. Thanks for this video.
I've been trying for months to get my key fob to work went to the dealership and they were quoting me well over $600 to have a new fob reprogrammed I did exactly this and it works! Thank you thank you thank you you saved me hundreds and I have my key fob back!
Wow! It worked on my 2005 Tacoma. Key kiosk at Costco wasn’t able to do it and gave me the 2 remotes for free and I was able to program it myself with your help! Thank you so much!
Thank you for this great video. Worked perfectly on my 07 Tacoma. I really appreciate that you get right down to it and don't give the audience the entire genealogical breakdown of your extended family to explain why you made the video. Short and to the point. Just as these videos should be.
Worked exactly as advertised! Thank you for doing it at a speed that I could follow along as I did it too. The dealership wants an arm and a leg for these things.
Worked perfectly on my 2014 Taco. I got nervous when the instructions I got with my Amazon keyfobs (that said they worked for my year of truck) didn't have 2013 or 2014 listed on the site and when I clicked the 2012 it said I needed to get a locksmith to program them. Thanks so much for the video!
Thank you so much for this video! I've tried programming my fob numerous times before and was never successful. Your step by step worked perfectly 1st time!
Thank you for this comment! I tried over and over again (with the map light on) and was getting so frustrated it wasn’t working. Then I saw your comment and it worked first try. Thank you!
Just programmed two remotes!! Thanks you're a life saver. Seeing someone do it like is so much better then reading instructions. Follow along > read along. Quick question would this work with a chipped key?
I followed these exact instructions with my 09 Tacoma, and it worked like a charm! However, I do have a question about this. When I purchased my Tacoma used, the dealership just gave me a single key, no fobs or anything. I just realized that my Tacoma came stock with remote start as well, so I was just wondering if these remotes are capable of remotely starting the tacoma as well. Thank you!
Ok I read the directions online and thought people were pulling my leg. I am oddly baffled that it worked. Like this feels like saying "you gotta hop on one foot and clap twice." But thanks my fob worked again.
@30smsuperstrat some things to check on, that I've heard people say in the past is make sure your dome light inside is off and also make sure you start sequence with door closed.
I have tried this like 30 times. It does not work for me. I tried turning off the interior lights in the truck and the map light. I know there is different modes for the ignition, do you have to have the key inserted counterclockwised all the way off like in accessory mode? before you perform the steps. If i spin the key one click, the ignition is not on but you can still hear the door alarm go off. I really have no idea what im doing wrong.
Great concise video! Two questions; one of my FOBs is worn out. If I program a new one, will the other stock FOB need to be reprogramed? Also, my keys are the "immobilizer" style, will this FOB and programing steps work with them? Again, great video. TIA!
Hey Mark the shark! I'm getting it to go in program mode after I hold the two buttons down then hold the one button down the locks keep cycling and it will not program.
One thing to try is open the door at the very end if you haven't already. Also make sure your map light inside is turned off. I've heard that may affect it
Hi there! So does the key start the truck after it’s cut , and the key fobs work? Or do I have to program the key itself? In other words, does this just allow you to get in your truck? Or does it make the key work as in starting the truck. Thx!!
That was a great and easy demo - One Question:- can I buy the ones with a "key blanks" as well as the programmable portion, and get the keys cut from my original at any hardware store?
Unfortunately I couldn't get my new fob to program. Possibly the difference is that the ones I got were both a fob and key blank together. Now I did this using my existing Key? Perhaps I should get the new ones cut at the hardware store, and use them as the insertion key? Or, is there another programming option (I made sure I ordered the exact series as specified on the original key) anyone able to suggest anything? thanks...
@@REALmarktheshark Thanks Mark, I also thought that perhaps the key/fob combination might be different; but was wondering why, by following your instructions to the point of turning the Key on & off, closing the door, and removing the key, would have picked up the computer programming function. i.e. locked the door? assuming that this is independent of the actual activating of the new FOB? Only when one starts using the new fob (pressing both buttons) would the fact that my combination might be wrong, and the Tacoma computer wouldn't activate the fob? I guess I'll be in-touch with my local Locksmiths, who say they can program and cut the new keys for $90 each. Still far cheaper than going to the dealership! Cheers....
OK just read that Toyota, in their wisdom, decided not to allow manual programming in the 2016 model! (not sure if that was the only year? but just my luck). Off to see my friendly Locksmith.

Hmm I'd try it again, and also I've heard people say that they had to turn off the interior lights in the truck also for it to work. May want to check that.
