  • I join in as a guide taking a group of veterans down the Peace River in Florida for 4 exciting days of adventure! Lots of fun was had by all on the 72 mile trip where we saw lots of wildlife including several alligators. I was trying out a new paddle craft the Kaku Kahuna Kayak/SUP which turned out to be a total adventure machine, looking forward to many more on the Kahuna.

    Trip, there is no need to explain further for killing that snake. I've scrolled the comments and you've answered appropriately, at least 5 times, that I've read. None of these people were there to know the threat. They're watching a few second clip on a video and passing judgement. I will let all snakes go, providing they are not a threat, except for a cottonmouth. He's dead, regardless. They are nasty critters. I watched one chase a friend of mine for no reason. He wasn't even near it. Another time, we were hiking and a rattlesnake was in the middle of the trail. He gave us ample warning and we just coaxed him back into the woods. The point is, no one here has the right to tell you when and when not to deal with a threat. They were not there. Period

    Trip I can not thank you enough for coming and helping with this trip. After watching your video I had smile knowing we changed lives in those four days. Reliving the fun we had was awesome. I hope you'll be able to help with the Peace River Warrior Challenge again in the future, and helping bring awareness to PTSD issues that some vets face. Getting them out there opened their eyes new adventures. For Those Who Have Shed Blood With Me Will Forever Be My Brother.

      @TripSmith  7 лет назад +1

      +Ferdinand Eriksen Kayak vs Canoe? I think a kayak is better in about every situation unless you are doing a lot of portaging. Canoes catch more wind, your gear is exposed, they aren't well,suited for around the beach or open water.

    Hey Trip, I have some "opinion" for you on sleeping in the water on the board. I was a 20 year law man for what ever that is worth, I can find a loophole in most laws. Of course casinos do that same thing; floating, to get around land laws. There is a legal precedent for your idea but it may only be in states with floating casinos. Me personally, I would go for it, but might not post that exact part of the video for the world to see... and hold as evidence. I'm into bush crafting, working on kayak/camping. I have an AMOK DRAUMR 3 which is an amazing hammock to sleep in. But it requires a hefty sleeping pad. I use an EXPED SYNMAT 7 LW and happily discovered that it keeps me off the ground when I use it in a conventional tent. Im short and fat so finding a sleep pad that keeps all of me off the ground was difficult. It has a built in air pump. Its wonderful! I own it and would personally guarantee that pad would be amazing on your board. Look it up.

    • @TripSmith
      @TripSmith  6 лет назад

      I'll check out the pad! With regards the legalities of sleeping on the board, people sleep on boats all the time in this area so I don't think there should be an issue from sleeping on a boat to sleeping on a board as long as they are both floating.... We shall see ;P

      Brock Cunningham - yup! was born and raised in south Florida. swimming with Gators is literally no different than swimming in ocean with sharks. you can't see either, but they're there. used to swim in rivers with the gators when we were young, never thought much of it like today's hysteria. water moccasins rightly terrified me...no bueno.

    Good video Trip looked like fun! Being a reptile enthusiast/hobbyist I would strongly encourage you to try and not kill any snakes unless its absolutely necessary because they do play a role in Eco systems and don't really deserve to die. Hey Trip, fairly new subscriber here. Also new to kayaking and kayak fishing. Absolutely love your vids because you don't edit out mistakes or screw ups so that we can learn from your mistakes errrr experiments. That said, hopefully you learned that you should edit out controversial things like the snake thing. I have watched enough of your vids that it is obvious to me that you respect nature and wouldn't kill something just for the heck of it. Although, I am surprised you didn't eat it because you eat some weird sh*t sometimes. So stay awesome and keep posting!

    One of my new favorite channel's. Great video's. I just ordered the Kahuna for my daughter for her birthday which is coming up in July. I found this channel going thru video's of the Kahuna and couldn't stop watching this video. It's cool. I want to do something like this with my daughter but not sure if she is ready for something like this. I've been wanting to plan something like this but something a little less extreme. She's just turning 13 and we like to fish & snorkel and camp She loves the beach and Paddleboarding. Im more into Kayaking. I've been so busy with life lately It's been hard to get out.😡 Were from S.Fl. We used go on weekend trips to the Keys a lot but not lately. I did take her offshore fishing & snorkeling for Easter. I was wondering if you can give me some advice on some places and excursions that might be good for my daughter &' myself to try out that might be a little less challenging than this for her. I personally don't mind the challenge but I haven't done anything like this before and nor has she. I want to start getting out more consistently and eventually work my way up to more intermediate extreme excursions &'adventures. We'll be using the Kahuna and a Kayak, although after watching this I'm thinking of buying one for myself. Great video,btw. You have inspired me again. I love the genuine excitement and wonderment you get from everything around you while on this trip. Ts cool. Keep em coming and if you can give me some advice and a few pointers I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much and I will be sharing these videos on all my social media accounts. Thanks again

    • @TripSmith
      @TripSmith  7 лет назад +1

      Cool! Thanks Yankee! I'm sure she will love that Kahuna.... I'm not super familiar with the area down there but I'd suggest finding a state park on the bay or something with a campground and go that route. Just do a short little overnight where you can paddle from camp and back or something. Focus on the wildlife if there are some out like crabs or something.
      I'm going to think that once you try her's out you are going to want one of your own ;)
      Thanks for sharing! Means a lot!!!! I'm so happy you were inspired and I hope you and your daughter enjoy your time together!

    • @MrBaloo5

      Thank you brother. Safe travels and may you have many more incredible adventures. Seriously these videos should be on prime time TV. You should try and sell this show to one of the big networks. I don't think there's a kayaking/SUP travel/fishing show on TV. I don't watch T.V. really just to watch sports and River Monsters or watch a movie on Netflix, haven't watched River Monsters in while but I would definitely watch this one and so would my daughter. I know there a bunch on RUclips, but this channel, Key West Kayak Fishing and Salt Strong are the best in my opinion. Anyway, much success with everything. I wish you the best. I will be buying thru your Amazon store to help also. Thanks again & Godspeed
