Man I haven't been to your channel in a while, but awesome to see you on a gravel bike. I've been into about 3 years.
Hey cool! I really enjoyed that trip, even though it was a short one. Glad you stopped back by, scroll through and see what else may interest you ;)
Cool adventure. I love bike packing.
Pro tip for to dry gear over night, without morning dew wetting it all up.
Get a tiny tarp. 4x6’ should cover your bike. Set it up like you would over a hammock. But do it about a foot or two over your bike and gear. Guy it out. Hang your gear on your bike just like you did, but with the tarp over it, the dew will rest on the tarp instead of your gear. The breeze will dry your shirts & gear.
Also, backflow your sawyer every time you get home, it will never be clogged and lasts forever. I’ve had the same sawyer for 5yrs without fail.
Awesome video. Keep on adventuring. Can’t wait for RAD!
Hey glad you enjoyed it! That's an interesting tip and probably a very good one. Thanks!!!
@44:42 all I could hear was the line from the water boy “now that’s what I call high quality H2O….”
Lol anyways nice video as always.
Haha! I hear ya.....
Trip im 63 and i can can stand on on leg and put socks and shoes on and off. Not bragging because ive intentionally done this for yrs to build leg muscles and improve balance. I stretch regularly to stay flexible. It works!!!
Remember back when this was a boating/kayaking channel..? I miss the skiff and C-Dory 😥😄
Loading up the C Dory right now and heading out in the morning! Then again the week after..... So two boat camping videos coming your way 😜🤙
That's awesome!! Look forward to em! Don't mind me, I'm just being selfish because I haven't been able to take out my boat 😄
@@sector7676 Ah I gotcha, no worries bud.
He forgot to say trip dip he must have been thirsty
Man was I.... Never been that thirsty!
Great video! Love the bikes simplistic look.
Glad you enjoyed it Taylor. I like that its simple also....
Always an adventure 😂😂
Great video Trip. I have the same watch. Love it!
Heck yea! Great watch....
Can’t wait
Heck yea!!! I see you enjoy some pedaling ;)
I'm surprised you have never talked about the health benefits of tannic water as far as swimming and bathing. RAD strong!!!
Haven't heard anything about them. Is it a real thing or maybe your kidding? 🤔. I googled it and nothing really came up about bathing in it. Drinking them, is a different story.
Now we talking. Great video trip
Yea man! Glad you enjoyed it
Really cool video 👍👍👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I did a double take right now I'm like wait are you on a motorcycle. Hey trip I really missed your videos I've been very busy.
Man, I watch a lot of your videos. I live between Brewton and Andalusia just off 29. I have swim a many a day in blue lake. Cool to see you almost in my neck of the woods.
Hey that's awesome Wade! What a cool spot man.....
Just ordered some earth runners brother love the videos as always!!!
Wise man! Hope you love them at least half as much as I do mine!
Did you try back flushing your filter? I back flush my sawyers regularly and I’ve never had trouble with flow. I’ve been using the same two for several years now. Pro tip: a sport cap on a smart water bottle will seal tight enough on the tip of a sawyer to back flush it.
No I didn't, but I should! I should have thought of that. The water bottle I carry should fit it perfectly, I just didn't think about it.....
I have a Trek that will peddle assist up to 28 mph. I got it up to 22mph one time and thought I was gonna die. I love my E-Bike! You should have asked for water when you had the chance. When you were eating those chicken hearts, I laughed until my side was hurting!!!
Oh now that's got to be a SWEET bike! Glad you enjoyed it man!
I have toured on a bicycle but have gotten out of it. I am massively susceptible to heat exhaustion. I use panniers on a regular bike, non-electric. I carry massive amount of water, 2 stainless 39 ounce filled with ice for all day and refill them from 2 49 ounce plastic bottles. I will refill once or twice all of that as well on an all day ride. I have passed out from the heat, I've almost gone down on the bike from the heat, and a friend almost crashed me when he dumped his 8 hour old water in 97° heat because it was like an ice knife drilling into the back of my neck when he thought I looked hot so squirted me, LOL. That's like dumping ice water in the radiator when you're car is overheating, not good, LOL.
I do have to fill the gut with ice water every hour to keep my body cooled down. I'll chug one of the stainless as they are filled with ice once an hour and refill it with the plastic bottled water.
With the water I carry, my bike for a week long 400 mile or so ride weighs about 110 lb. Just a regular cheap Giant Escape hybrid, not even a touring bike let alone electric. That thing has carried me and my gear from Pittsburgh to DC, Across NY, all over central PA, and circumnavigated Lake Ontario. Hell of a bike, couldn't have asked for more for a $600 bike.
Saw you at florabama today. Talked to you real quick, just watched this video and you went right by my camp. By that road closed sigb we've got a house. You could have gotten some water there! Ha!
Hey awesome Brock! Good to have met you man.... Now I know for the next trip lol Thanks for watching bud and for stopping to say hey.
This guy is a freak 😂 the sardines and chicken hearts cmon
Yum!!!! lol
I’ve been several hours deep in the woods to have my sawyer fail. Scared me half to death. I just squeezed really hard since I was using smart water bottles and it finally started working. I check mine before every trip and always backwash them.
Yea... I need to pay more attention lol
Tripp Dip!
Yea!!!!
Sing it with me…. You took your bike down the ol dirt road….. ain’t nobody gonna tell you nothin!!!
aint nobody gonna tell me nothin....... lol
Nice video, but I really miss the boat adventures !
Thanks! Oh yea, me too! Next one is a few days on the C-Dory ;)
TRIP SIP
Yes sir!!!!
That creek water looks like you picked up a truckers bottle off the side of the road Trip! You keep riding that bicycle and camping and your going to upgrade to a motorcycle before long! 😀
Yea you never know about that... I used to want a motorcycle but after being a firefighter, I think I may be wise to stear clear ;)
@@TripSmith My brother says the same thing after working in a ER for years.
@@decapolis01 Yep....
Cool trip - fun and entertaining like always. I saw your post of gear - all except your headlamp - ?
Glad you enjoyed it! I need to add that headlamp, thanks for the reminder!
That sure does look like your old truck that crosses in front of you at the beginning before you hit the dirt road. Ha!
It sure did didn't it! I noticed that when it passed....
Great video Trip! I really enjoyed the adventure. I apologize if you covered this, but do you carry a spare tube, patches, and small pump in case of a flat? It really sucks to push in the event of a flat lol.
Thanks Kenneth! I didn't have a tube for this bike on this trip.... But I do have a pump I carried with me, no patches. My non electric bike I do have extra tubes though.
Were you swerving like you’re George Jones? 😂
Dang right I was! Hey Danielle!!!!!
You should do a short video on cooking the chicken hearts
hey that might be fun!!!
Next time your in Andalusia and need some water hit me up I'll bring you some
10-4, thanks Tony!
You think of adding a solar panel!!!???
On the bike? Nah....
That's a '90's kid e-Mountain Bike.
That's right!!! lol
You need to 100% get a surron best electric bike to exist
Ha, they look bad to the bone and fun!!!
@@TripSmith 100% they are. I race cars on the side walk going 50
Mr. Trip,
Do you mind if I use some screenshots from your Choctawhatchee videos in an upcoming video production, that I'm working on? (I'm interested in Landscape & Waterscape screenshots)
I'll give you credit on all screenshots that I use, if you agree. And of course, I'll post a link to your channel.
My video is going to focus on "beings" in the Choctawhatchee area.
Thank you, Trip!❤️🙏👍
Hey there Dee! Yea, sure. Wishing the best for your production!
How many turkeys did you see?
I think only two.... Not as many as I expected. Still cool! Didn't see any deer either but jumped one along the road and heard it run off....
Tackle box score! Might be more used now than all your other knives.
There ya go!
You also might want to start putting in water purification tablets as a backup.
Yea maybe.... you never know....
What happened to the C-Dory?
She is coming out next week for an adventure 😀
Gravel ride during rock a dock this year?
That could be interesting.... I generally try to save my energy for the folks at RockaDock and probably won't do much riding. Maybe a few quick workouts but not long ride ;)
@@TripSmith we could have some bicycle slow races…
Them dang mosquitoes
Getcha every time!

I ride a fat tire bike with no e-assist, and I’m in way worse shape than you. There are two critical factors to consider with fat tire bikes, with a third bonus tip. I’m not trying to convince you that you’re wrong, but if you ever decide to try it again, these tips will help you have a much better time on them.
1- Cheap bikes have cheap bad parts that aren’t as smooth or easy as better quality parts. It’ll add up to a lot more effort to pedal. Sorry, you get what you pay for. Almost all e-assist fat tire bikes fall into the cheap category, because they’re using the fat tires as a gimmick to make sales, not building a bike designed to work well with them. Some people will disagree with me. That’s okay, they’re just trying to justify their purchases to themselves.
2- Tire pressure is EVERYTHING on a fat tire bike! When maximum pressure is 20psi, just a 2psi change is 10% change in effort! 2psi on a tire that takes 60psi max is a rounding error. So, play with your pressures until you find what’s right for you. Start at 20psi and bleed off until it’s comfortable without robbing your energy. Ballparks are 15-20psi for hard smooth surfaces (pavement, hard pack gravel), 10-15psi for hard rough surfaces (mountain bike trails, loose gravel), and 4-8psi for soft loose surfaces (snow, sand). The correct pressures are absolutely critical for an enjoyable experience.
Bonus/3- Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Take your time. If you average 15mph on a regular bike, plan to average 10mph on the fat bike. You’ll run an easier gear and it won’t be so hard to pedal, but you won’t go as fast, either. It’s still 2.5x faster than walking! Fat tire bikes require a change in mindset.
Hope that helps some folks have more fun and less struggle on their fat tire bikes. I’m a believer! 🙌
Thanks for the input!
@@TripSmith Thanks for the videos! Been enjoying them for years now!
Idk if your hair dresser messed up your edge or if your diet is lacking or if its stress but your hair looks like someone razored you back two fingers in the last couple videos, other than that great content🤣 made me want to modify my motorized bike for some dirt roads
He's wearing the shelias again lol
Always! ;)
