Hey grant with those hills and you just starting and being smaller maybe instead of a semi you should get a single axle grain truck we have one and it keeps up to a 9670 with a 30 ft head and we have a grain cart on the end of the feild we stop amd dump and the truck driver loads himself I think the one we sold 4 years ago was a 70s c60 chevy besides they cost less to license and insure than a tandem.and we use it for a sprayer tender we take the tarp and bows off and slise a 1500 water tank in it has a pump and it will hold a tote of chemical and all the boxes so it is something to think about I saw one online for like $4500.
You just need to invest into a 850 grain cart so you have room to upgrade in ground size. And a straight truck, maybe even jsut a single axle semi and a small 850 bushel semi grain trailer.
Hey Grant. I am not lying I am probably your biggest fan. I watch every video. It is my dream to meet you. Keep up the good work and stay safe during harvest.👍🙂🚜
I would recommend getting a reel for the header. Myself and Iowa have had wind damage 3 of the past 4 years and when it is down like what you have a reel will keep feeding it in. You won't have to stop just go slow.
If you do have to keep your combine outside in the rain you probably want to take the plates off the bottom of the grain tank on the left side so the water drains out. We have to do it all the time also try to do it before it rains because that water is rank
I suggest good lights over where ever you plan to have a work bench. The over head lights won’t be enough when you are trying to work on something on a bench.
Seen that quite a few times! Lol keep up the outstanding work as always and I enjoy seeing the content you put out there! Hope all is well!YEEYEE and have a good one!
Howdy Grant! Your IRL videos are my favorite things to watch on RUclips. I started making some videos on my truck because it’s what I enjoy. Love the content man
Make sure your electrician wires up the lights so you have a switch for each rafter. All the extra switches will be worth it in not having to need extra lights on.
Goals for next year it’s your first year farming well farming in general seems like you always need somthing ealse but you’ll get there there’s many more years to come
I think you should invest into solar power on the shed. Plus if any of the farms are in the bottom they definitely need a couple days to dry. I would recommend next time give it a couple of days especially when they are not calling for rain. Have a great week.
Sorry, but I will be a stickler on this, there is a difference between picking corn, chopping corn, and harvesting corn. Other than that this was a great video and I love watching them because it is amazing to see what big dreams can come too.
@@carsonwilson8279 a corn picker is a machine used in the past 50 years that would just pull the ears off the stalk. A combine shells corn. Meaning it takes all the kernels off the ear unlike the picker which leaves the ears whole. So technically harvest is more of a common term, but we shell corn not pick corn
Quick tip grant I don't know if a 9560 has this but under the augur chain the tank looks like a v on the side at the button of the v under there might be 3 plates you need to take off so your grain tank doesn't have water but I don't know if a 9520 has it i bet every combine does
I have a tip for you I don’t know if your so this already we have a John Deere 8300 and Brent 644 and always when we are either hauling in to somewhere or on the rode when the wagon is pretty we alway go to 15th gear just a gear under the highest gear but it is a lot less we’re and tear on stuff including wagon bouncing and it is not at hard on the transmission on the combine either
Omg I was doing your exact farm on farm simulator 19 and it started raining and it was very muddy. You make the best videos I watch every single one keep up the great work and you are my favorite youtuber
Your lucky some feilds in my area near Woodstock Ontario are flooded. The one farmer who farms by himself most of the year has not finished beans but the feilds too flooded to harvest
Good idea, renewables are great for environment but aren’t so good on reliability (at night). Energy storage isn’t the best at the moment, besides batterys. So would still need to be connected to the grid. I’m sure solar would save money in the long-run tho!👍
@@granthilbert5632 Yeah I kind of feel like solar would be good for like a house or whatever but if you ever need to charge a tractor battery or something you need a banana power and you don’t want to not have power at your farm
@@granthilbert5632 no bcuz solar costs a fortune and only lasts like maybe 15 years and by then it would be cheaper for just being connected to the grid
Combines all use a little bit of oil it’s normal that’s just because they are running pretty hard using 90-100%+ of power so they use a little bit of oil you’ll maybe put 1-1 1/2 gallons in it a season
Was there a lot of downed corn around you guy? Up north a ways we don’t have any really, but if it helps fungicides help with your corns root and stock strength and that could help keep your corn from tipping
Maybe next year convert your combine over dauls that will help for compaction and help your float on top a little better just a suggestion otherwise great video grant 👍
if you hade a dump truck that holds 500 and a grain cart that holds 500. if works beautifully That's what we run for out set up for 350 acres of corn. and the combines running constantly .
have you looked at turning your tractor up to 8300 specs? the 8100 8200 and 8300 are all the same tractor just different HP ratings. The 8400 has a heavy duty transmission in it.
Don’t keep adding oil. You fill it up at your service to top of the full mark. and your motor is gonna burn some of the oil. And once it gets to just off the stick or right at the bottem that’s when u oil change/ add oil.
If you’re looking for a truck id look at old ford Louisvilles, international loadstars, Chevy c70s you can get them cheap at auctions and they run well with your farm it wouldn’t hurt to have one
What has your yield average been for the season? Are you satisfied with the Wyffels you planted? I’m just curious cause I’m always looking for new varieties to plant. Please let me know thanks. My 9600s sweet spot is about half on the oil. As always I enjoyed watching your video. You definitely make some great content to watch.
You should see if the co-op would rent you a semi and an auger then you could just bring the grain with the gravity wagons out to the semi and auger them on to the semi
get some rims and wheels for your f250 and a tone and just pull the harvester I think you'll be good but you should do it you will have a lot more fun with the truck and you'll be able to pull heavier stuff without having a hard time and mud wont be a problem and if you find the right tone you'll probably be making 750hp
Bout time you posted again😂but I’m just saying that you are actually harvesting/shelling corn, not picking corn. But I love how far you have came from playing farming on a computer to farming in real life👍keep it up!!

Once you pack the soil you'll be fixing it for years to come. Probably if the neighbors aren't in the field, it's a good idea to wait it out.
Thata is a real challenge with clays and loams . A good scarichisel or chisel plough will always be necessary on farms for thathat reason.

Don’t waste your money on keeping the oil at full. They seem to have a sweet spot at half or just under. Keep an eye on it though.

Will always blow my mind how a combine cuts the corn, and shells all the corn seeds on its own. Fellow Iowan here, love the videos!
