Yeah it’s always a good idea to run at an angle for vertical tillage and I recommend an angle for ripping too it helps smooth the soil also helps break up clods and compaction better
Those steering boxes love to over correct. Before we put integrated valves in we would run the diff lock once lined up. Helps keep it from walking around. Tap the brake on the end to cancel the diff, make your turn, set the steer, diff lock again.
Keep up the outstanding work as always! I always appreciate you taking the time to make these videos for us! Got all the corn planted here in Wisconsin, got enough rain too! We got lots of old 80's-90's hats but not sure if im ready to let them go yet? 2nd year of planting on your farm too, like to see how far you have come. Cant wait for more rp on westby wisconsin with losing the farm! Hope all is well on the farm and with family! YEEYEE and have a good one! :-)
You can safely push most engines until they reach about 1800 rpm. Your tractor was doing fine at 10 mph and 2100 rpm. I would look into converting your cultivator harrow to rolling baskets
i love watching you farm makes me want to start my own farm i own my own international 706 it was on on feed yard in the 70s and i bought it before it went out the family the feed yard was sold cause granpa had heart problems so im realy excited to start my own farm
Glad your planting. I took your advice from last video that you would start planting may 10th so that day i planted my gardens corn. We had very nice hot weather in the 80s-90s that week.
What we do is we chop the stalks and chisel corn ground in the fall and in the spring go through with the disk to level the deep ruts then a field cultivator to make a nice seed bed. Just a Suggestion
Here is a tip for soybeans. Get a harrow or a land roller to flatten the ground or to take out the little humps from behind the planter and for picking up rocks that can cause damage or get picked up in your header. For the rocks you should pick up is softball size and bigger.
Grant if you gonna disk go at angle and do it in fall and put that disk deep to chop the stock up do obviously on corn and on beans you can do no till or if you can put hog manure down and cultivate or disk in that help so much
Great video always a joy to watch. We finally got most of our corn in the ground. Another good day we should be wrapped up. Wishing you guys a prosperous 2022.
I don't have much experience with the aftermarket steering systems, but I would bet that the differential lock will help keep it straighter through the field. I run the diff lock on my planters to keep it from fighting each direction. The VT did a great job!
I use the waas system instead of rtk, had the issue with it “zig zagging”. Recalibrated it and turned my p gain up to 8.0 and it drives prettt straight! But messing with the aggressiveness and also d gain will help
If you plan on running in the dark, LED lights wouldn’t be a bad idea. Put some on 2 tractors this year, made a huge difference over the halogens. Larsen lights makes kits for tractors, I helped put lights on an 8300 this winter there is definitely one for your 8110
You should usually deep rip beans in the fall before it freezes and then field cultivate(fc) in the spring. Rip at an angle one way then (fc)in the opposite direction but at the same angle. Also you can’t do anything to stop corn plug ups, sometimes even in beans you’ll get them but not as bad or often
Grant, with the commodity prices on the up and up if extra ground is available to rent you should jump on it, even if they don't want to sell it rent it, if Spencer is committed to helping you just as soon go all in, it's the same trouble to farm 200 acres as it is 1000 you just have to stay in the field a few more days, with 8 dollar corn and 16 dollar soybeans take advantage while you can, because when it's gonna flip around( and it always does) it's going to be like a run away train , this is my 30th crop I put in the ground belive me when I tell you I've seen many more years of 2.50 to 3.00 corn than I've seen 7 to 8 dollar, same for the soybeans in the late 80s and early 90s we sold many bushels of soybeans at 5 dollars!!
@@strandedkansan8367 there's no if about it at some point the market will reverse and will fall like a run away train, but while it's good you got to get it
On low land you'll find it's just that but wetter. My father goes crazy for drainage. One of the things he's started doing is finding "springs" where ground water rises to nearer the surface. You wouldn't believe how much water and how wet the ground gets because of springs. Problem is finding them, my brother is pretty good at "divining", I know it sounds crazy but if you take 2 pieces of high tensile electric fence wire, bend them over into an "L" shape, hold onto the short ends loosely one wire in each hand and when you cross over alot of water either flowing or rising they'll cross over eachother. It sounds crazy but I'm telling you it works. Try it over that water line you put in to your shed.
Hi Grandma I know this is your real life farming video but I really liked how your farming simulator videos are going I feel like the actual farm set up so I remember the one in farming simulator 19 I really like that’s farming series before farming simulator 22 came out I was hoping you’d make another series that would last while like your 80 series I hope you read my comment keep the work up Grant
You have a good thing going man . After this season I would invest in another medium size HP tractor . Like a nice 8960 as a tiller tractor . You have a nice planting / spraying tractor already just need something a lil bigger for tillage and maybe one day a grain cart . Save wear and tear on your nice gravity wagons . Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Hey Guys, I noticed that you’re using a couple of Midland handheld FRS or Family Radio Service radios. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how important good, reliable communications is. FRS is good for short (and I mean SHORT) range and you’re limited to the low power handheld units. Might I suggest obtaining your GMRS (General Mobile Radios Service) license which will allow you to purchase and use higher power, longer range mobile radios in your trucks, equipment and even as a base station. With FRS, the max transmit power is .5 watts, GMRS allows for up to 50 watts. One license (now $35 for a ten year period) covers ALL of your immediate family members. You can find new and used handheld and mobile radios at varying prices on eBay. You can also expand your coverage area by adding a repeater but that gets a bit more complicated. I would suggest just starting off with a couple of mobiles (one for your truck and one for Spence’s truck and a couple of handheld units and try them out. See if this will work for you. While I am not a professional radio tech, I am a licensed GMRS user with handheld, mobile, base and several repeaters and would be glad to walk you through everything if you want to reach out. I hope my suggestion results in helping you improve your operation and wish you luck with your future endeavors. Thanks for taking the time to video, video, video then edit, edit and edit and finally uploading and sharing your journey with the rest of us.
Have you thought about buying a good cheaper 4wd articulated tractor for your tillage? Like a 8570 or little bigger to pull implements like that vt tool?
But he can work ground and plant in 2 days with one tractor. There’s no reason to buy another until he picks up more ground. He’s young and ambitious. It’s ok to get out and unhook something.
I've farmed for thirty-five plus years always cultivated prior to planting at a angle to help level and make it easier planting. I never had gps driven tractors either. Most of my farming was wheat and milo . Plus alfalfa for our dairy.
Recomand to check the water dithces in that wet field. I would have done on urly on before planting. But u guys do a wrili good job. Amazing videos as allways🤩
I love how everyone wants you to buy another tractor...easy to say, not easy to buy when starting out, especially at the crazy prices for ag equipment. Find a used McFarlane harrow to pull behind your JD field cultivator next spring.
A large frame 6r would do really good for y’all some farmers use them for planting around here and they seem to work good and they can tow your gravity wagons pretty good with an ivt transmission
Rip at an angle work it on the same line you're gonna plant planter ground contact is more important than anything else want the row units riding on the ground without bouncing it keeps the seed at a level depth
A lot of times Grant when the steering is turning and going off and on the ball on your steering is a little too heavy and it will not your steering out
Rent a 9RX for 4 days and a 875 Case Ih ripper for harvest. For tillage you will love how your ground turns out my fields are the best because of those to
I'm not a rocket scientist but shouldn't the greenlight come with a manual for steering. Grant do you know if you'll get another tractor? love the videos!
Yeah it’s always a good idea to run at an angle for vertical tillage and I recommend an angle for ripping too it helps smooth the soil also helps break up clods and compaction better
If you want to level out the ground more go at an angle through the field.
That's what we sometimes do
I needed this today. Thanks for everything Grant!
Those steering boxes love to over correct. Before we put integrated valves in we would run the diff lock once lined up. Helps keep it from walking around. Tap the brake on the end to cancel the diff, make your turn, set the steer, diff lock again.

Watching this while I’m finishing last couple acres of corn. Good luck with your planting season. Pretty dry up here in northeast Iowa.
You can safely push most engines until they reach about 1800 rpm. Your tractor was doing fine at 10 mph and 2100 rpm.
I would look into converting your cultivator harrow to rolling baskets
May you be blessed with a safe farming season and great crop to harvest. Always take a day to get everything going and work the nervous excitement out

You look a lot more comfortable in year 2, so great watching these vids. Keep up the great work
Glad your planting. I took your advice from last video that you would start planting may 10th so that day i planted my gardens corn. We had very nice hot weather in the 80s-90s that week.
You are glad you have a cab
Glad to see people in Iowa can plant. In Minnesota we’re pretty wet but my cousins and uncle might be planting
I highly recommend calmer corn head kits for the residue issue. Look into it this summer!

Glad you were able to find the missing part. Nice at least you guys can get planting

Should have tried that! I've heard people say that these wheel mounted autotrac units don't do too well in rough ground at fast speeds.
I use the waas system instead of rtk, had the issue with it “zig zagging”. Recalibrated it and turned my p gain up to 8.0 and it drives prettt straight! But messing with the aggressiveness and also d gain will help

You probs also bought seed for less then $50 a bag. If grain prices drop down that low again there will be a lot of guys that go belly up.
@@strandedkansan8367 there's no if about it at some point the market will reverse and will fall like a run away train, but while it's good you got to get it

Congrats on the first day done!!
Just started putting our peanuts in the ground today and got rained out so here I am haha. Have a safe planting season Lord willing Grant.
I like the idea of putting the seed on the trailer and bringing the trailer to the field.

Man we’re already done planting and you’re just starting😂😂 hope you have a good year
Finishing our ground today, best of luck for planting season
Nice video we got with beans Saturday hoping to get this Wednesday with corn that 4000 acres done for 2022. Can’t wait for more videos
Have you thought about buying a good cheaper 4wd articulated tractor for your tillage? Like a 8570 or little bigger to pull implements like that vt tool?
i dont think he needs it really, besides having iron standing around costs a lot of money
For him another tractor would be good since then he can have his brother working ground while he plants it’s more efficient
But he can work ground and plant in 2 days with one tractor. There’s no reason to buy another until he picks up more ground. He’s young and ambitious. It’s ok to get out and unhook something.
Watching you while I’m planting beans🤘🏻 As always love the videos!
Off to a good start! Bring on planting season!!

great video , i enjoyed it very much, your all doing a great jog, looking good guys
Thanks John!
Nice job Grant!
You guys are working hard and doing well!
I love to see Grant chasing his dreams I have been watching since he played gta. I always knew you could do it. Keep at it bud.
Can spectacular Spencer be anymore perfect omg. Also grant too like holy biscuits 😂
Grant as long as your closing wheels on you planter don’t throw mud your fine.
Recomand to check the water dithces in that wet field. I would have done on urly on before planting. But u guys do a wrili good job. Amazing videos as allways🤩
Hell yeah love it!! Planting is awesome 👌
You should get another tractor. And keep up the good work 👍
I don't know that I've ever seen a hotter hat than your JD 8000 hat. It looks like it's made of jean material!
I love how everyone wants you to buy another tractor...easy to say, not easy to buy when starting out, especially at the crazy prices for ag equipment. Find a used McFarlane harrow to pull behind your JD field cultivator next spring.
Love your videos been here since day 1
A large frame 6r would do really good for y’all some farmers use them for planting around here and they seem to work good and they can tow your gravity wagons pretty good with an ivt transmission
We use a 6m for gravity wagons and it works well. We use 7r’s for planting and they work well.
Oh man you have a blu-jet hat, I've been there many times pickup up parts
Spencer totally farmer-ized himself when he put that yellow hat on!
Rip at an angle work it on the same line you're gonna plant planter ground contact is more important than anything else want the row units riding on the ground without bouncing it keeps the seed at a level depth
Considering the wicked prices for used equipment now, would you prioritize buying a tractor/equipment or more land?
Def Land! Equipment is last priority.
You need one more tractor. Like the videos have a great planting season
some people just do 2 passes with a VT, so in some situations it is a pretty good machine.
Farming sim looking pretty realistic today!
yeah you really gotta make sure you disc cornstalks in the fall if you wanna dig em in the spring
Your just to good
A lot of times Grant when the steering is turning and going off and on the ball on your steering is a little too heavy and it will not your steering out
Planting is going well.
I like how the cabs in the 8110 are so spacious well in the 8120 i drive the cabs huge
🔥fun fact, old Deere merch and equipment Deere in landing and new stuff Deere is jumping🔥👊🔥great video and get r done
I wonder when you will be adding another tractor to your farm
Good video, just and FYI your rolling baskets were hardly even touching the ground, would help level it out better
An 8420 or 8320 would be a nice addition to the equipment line up
Try to put the barrow teeth all the way down. This would cause more pressure on the corn stalks and they may not catch then!
Thanks
in that little 22 acre wet piece in the future you might want to consider not-till corn\soybean rotation. just my advice.
Rent a 9RX for 4 days and a 875 Case Ih ripper for harvest. For tillage you will love how your ground turns out my fields are the best because of those to
I saw a 1025R, somebody just parked in your shed right?^^
I noticed those 2 campers do you guys live in them?
Awesome!!
You should probably do 125 on our planter we do 100 down pressure and we need a little bit more than 100 So I think 125 would be perfect.
Congratulations man….
You should do a live stream and we can ask questions and stuff. Or a live in the tractor
The same exact thing happened to me today with a gauge wheel and the bolt was still in it, sometimes ya win I guess lol.
Thanks for posting.
When are we gunna get a Better resolution?
1080p really??
You can use 1080p
Dude my uncle has that exact same hat
Also are you running climate field view through ur planter monitor??
No it's not hooked up to planter. It's hooked to 2630 greenstar display, but no connection to planter.
I would recommend hilling your fields then the corn residue falls into the dips and rots
Down here in Georgia all we run is a disc harrow
You are basically a natural because of all of your fs playing
Nice video
Love your channel
Love the videos keep it up
I love your vids!!!
I think a 4440 or something along those lines would be great for the your farm
Diesel prices are so high we are cutting back on as much tillage as possible. It's just not feasible to keep working ground at over 5$ a gallon.
A good way to chop up corn stalks is to bush hog them
Love your videos,keep em up!
I'm not a rocket scientist but shouldn't the greenlight come with a manual for steering. Grant do you know if you'll get another tractor? love the videos!
Those units just don't do good at fast speeds in rough ground. I played with the settings a ton, finally got it set a bit better.
@@granthilbert5632 good 👍
Most of my family farms in South East and west Minnesota. The fields aren't exactly smooth
Maybe you should work on getting a stock shredder and you should wear rubber gloves because that corn the pink coating on it will turn your hands pink
Watchin you while discin! Love the progress on your farm if you need any tips hmu!
Time for tractor # 2🤷♂️
