I absolutely love the flavour text for all of the units and tech upgrades, this game just oozes character it's (unusually for a strategy title) incredibly well written!! Even the unit barks drive the immersion and give me a chuckle! And omg that soundtrack is just pure epic!
43:00 There are ways to deal with the enslavers. Yes they enslave on sight, but are always there specifically to guard something. I rarely ever lose even a single unit to them, if they capture something, avoid it and immediately go for the kill. Occasionally it's not immediately doable, but what you're doing here is literally feeding them. You're venturing too far without proper back up, having only one or two units of guardsmen which are the weakest infantry in the game.
I always rush frag, krak and medipack (after cult mechanicus for early expansion) and kinda feel bad about missing out on the other stuff for a good while, then when the game inevitably throws multiple kastellan-enslaver tagteams in my face I suddenly feel much better having them :D
I like how the upgrades keep even your tier 1 infantry useful throughout the game. When you can churn out guardsmen every 2 turns in the later game with armour piercing lasguns and medipacks they are nothing to sneer at in numbers!
Ananke is Ancient Greek ^^ it means the inevitable necessity that cannot not happen: Oedipus laying with his mother and killing whomever (father? Grandfather? Can't remember) was anankaios. It would have happened, inevitably.
It was also one of the oldest goddesses of the greek pantheon, being of the generation of the Titans or even older. She is said to be the mother of the moires. In some ways she is Fate giving order and « purpose » to a chaotic world.
@@TheLokiel being how the Moirai's work cannot be avoided, it does make sense that Ananke is related to them (also, fun fact: the original Greek spelling, if I am not mistaken, is Anagke. 'gk' regularly turned into 'nk')
Why would the sisters of battle and the space marines fight the Imperial Guard? Especially when every other enemy of the Imperium seems to also be on this world?
Because it's 40k. Everyone is morally bankrupt and as soon as they're cut off from the rest of the galaxy it's every man (or woman) for themselves. If you want specifics every campaign does mention various excuses for why they're all at each others throats and it usually melts down to "Everyone else has gone mad! We're the only sane ones left!". And if you want to be even more specific, I'm shooting at them.
@@JanetOnOccasion I could see the Space Marines doing that but the Sisters typically like the Guard. Unless they saw clear signs of chaos corruption I just have a hard time seeing them turn on the Guard.
@@JanetOnOccasion I had to start different games as each faction to see the flavour excuse text on why the other factions are baddies! If that makes sense? Gladius is awesome...
@@Dressyone223 The text that appears when you encounter a hostile faction gives a little paragraph which differs for each faction. It typically says they arent responding to comms and so are either xenos pawns, heretics or otherwise hostile etc
Honestly if they keep adding content I’ll keep coming back and playing. It’s a good bit of fun and doesn’t require an overwhelming amount of brainpower. Sit back, explore the planet, and purge it of your enemies.
The reading helps immerse yourself into the game, I personally skip most of the reading if I’m actively watching but if I’m listening to it as a Podcast. I enjoy the reading.
Glad to see Gladius is still being expanded. Here's hoping for a Drukhari or Chaos Daemon faction DLC in the future
Nah, gotta get the Genestealer Cults in first :P
@@JanetOnOccasion Well, they're a full faction since 8th edition or so, so it could happen
@@eduardodiaz9942 Maybe we get a leagues of votann dlc, that would be nice.
I'd pay for a robust army painter with multiple skins for each factions
drukhari just got added!

The ability is on a cooldown too, I think we all learned the hard way not to go against them with too few support units...
Just finished my first campaign - astra militarum, and got the game because of your sororitas campaign :)

Presumably ‘anathema to chaos’, right? I’ll pronounce it however and wait for an Ancient Greek to correct me :)
@@JanetOnOccasion very anathema, to all the Chaos, sah!

But it is how I would pronounce it as a german :D
Keep up the good work really enjoy watch your campaigns. 😊
Guys, help me out here. Gladius DLCs are on sale, but kinda pricey. I want Tyranids. Worth? Not?
"They killed Jeff" 🤣 Yep, one of the reasons I watch you'r channel :)
Nice to see ol' Gladius back. Will you also be taking a look at the Ork release for Battlesector?
I still love this game

Thanks!
It's my pleasure! Cheers for the dono :)
Awesome.Looking forward to this new campaign.
YES. Time to roll some imperial steel
Commented, liked. Been here for a while.
Shoot your friends may not be the guardsmen official moto but as long as you yell heretic first you'll probably be fine lol
i love you man! i love these warhammer games!!!!!!!!!
I might skip to the vehicle stage of this series, I hope you’re not offended lol

"Oh no...." lol
some of the expansion units should have been in the base game
Since the Rogal Dorn didn't exist yet I feel like it should get a pass
"Ananke" is not German, it's Greek for "necessity"
Interesting to watch, but did you have to read "everything" out?.
Lol. I think you know how to counter play slavers and you rushed everything else except what u needed. Altho is my first time ever seeing this game.
Any excuse to watch you play a game.
Why is this game mostly played PVE?? It's definetly PVP oriented gameplay wise
