    Imagineering and Lucasfilm smartly recognized that it would be impossible to fit every fan-favorite planet into such a small space, so they created a new environment which aesthetically matches what we imagine when we think of STAR WARS: ancient, organic environments enhanced with tech and populated with alien creatures.
    If this phase is successful, I hope it leads to the development of more lands in the SW universe (more likely at WDW, with all its space). A full SW dedicated park is unlikely -- too many eggs in one basket -- but many SW lands spread across multiple parks (a la Universal's two park Harry Potter Worlds) are a real possibility.
    If this land is indeed a spaceport of some sort, how cool would it be if you could travel from there to other planets, physically realized at Hollywood Studios or elsewhere in property?

    I hope every thing in Star Wars Land is so mind blowing, it will bring Disney back up to what a theme park was like when they first opened Disneyland and made all the other theme parks of that time cry and wished they had thought of that.

    The crowd seemed dumbfounded and didn't cheer at all when they explained they were going to create an environment inspired by Star Wars instead of environments that are known. Of course it would have to be this way. People want to be in the Lars Homestead, the Death Star, the Ewok village, a Star Destroyer bridge, Coruscant, etc.

    • @aquapyro1

      Exactly, if they did a land based off of the best of moments, then it would be as boring as a universal "land".

    • @Wig4

      It is impossible to build that , because any downscaled built versions would always be a pityfull rip-off from what we saw in the movies. Building a "new place in the spirit of...", is the only viable solution, both in view of expectations as in view of budget-and-real-world-area .....

      "HOW" ? >> By "staging in" with forced perspective, and 3-dimentional parallax. (Combined techniques also used in film set building, but in that case, fragmented.) The concept renderings (which are EXPENSIVE promotion paintings) are always showing off a bigger size impression, of what will come.
      As I'm involved in concept pre-project planning for a small regional theme park (Belgium), I can give testimony that extreme compact planning with a visual impression of grandeur, is an artform close to magic .. lol
      > We actually start out with a total area of not more then 18 ha (= 44.5 acre) and it leaves about 13 ha (= 32 acre) of visitable theme park space, after substracting entrance circulation space, backstage area and (IN-Park !) hotel zoning. (Parking = on different, aditional, track of land)
      This 13 ha then holds 4 separate themed zones + one huge theatre. And everything must look spacious !
      Now compare ... both Star Wars Lands will encompass +- 14 acres (including backstage, however). So, this would be just a bit less then 2 of our small 'regional park' themed zones together.
      PLENTY of space , in compact building mode !
      Cheers

    If you've ever been to Disney's Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney/MGM Studios), you know about the "street-mosphere" characters that populate parts of that park. Streetmosphere characters are character actors who stay in character as they interact with guests as they walk through the park. This Star Wars Land will be doing the same thing with their aliens. Could be very cool.
    They will also have a "Cantina Bar" and a full-size Millennium Falcon!

    One thing that is conspicuously missing from the artwork and all of the gushing comments about how immersive it is going to be ("just like your in the Star Wars universe") is the fact that there will be throngs and throngs of tourists wearing mouse ears surrounding you in all directions, making such an "immersive" and "personal Star Wars" experience virtually impossible.

    • @ThematicFX
      @ThematicFX 7 лет назад +1

      Inhabitants?! Wake up, kiddo. There will be the occasional cast member in star wars garb here and there LIKELY BEHIND THE COUNTER WAITING FOR YOUR MONEY. The rest of your star wars "inhabitants" will be thousands of crowded tourists wearing star wars t-shirts, mouse-ears and cargo pants. Then when you're in your "immersive" Star Wars Marketplace, you will see bins full of cheap, shiny plastic mickey mouse lightsabers and x-wing toys priced at $29.99 or higher. So much for your "Immersive" Star Wars experience.

    • @JohnDoe-qq6gv

      I'm sure some fans will dress up in SW-like attire, hopefully the park encourages it so more people do it, increasing immersion.

    • @nickramer9374

      They been using screens since "Flight to the Moon".

    • @timothycal587
      @timothycal587 7 лет назад +2

      a dead account Ah so then the SWL which supposedly costs 1 billion is cheap?
      Along with Pandora Land rides which utilize screens (especially FOP) which costed 1 billion?
      Wow

    • @timothycal587
      @timothycal587 7 лет назад +2

      Nic Kramer ? Do you mean that, in the actual moon landings?

    • @timothycal587
      @timothycal587 7 лет назад

      a dead account I know screens aren't lazy or cheap. I'm with screens (unless they're overused cough Universal Studios cough) and I was only teasing those who believed screens are the cheap way out which, would be UORs reason of building the rides.
      If they have a belated budget, I would expect new technologies to be utilized and something we've never seen.
      Hogsmeade supposedly costed 240 million, forbidden journey which a price tag of about 130-140 million (FJ isn't confirmed but has been speculated but Hogsmeade has been confirmed).
      Diagon Alley costed about 400million...not sure about Gringotts but Gringotts is one of the most advanced rides in the world with FJ with one of the most immersive lands in the world, costing under 1 billion.
      Disney threw one billion at Pandora Land with a beautiful landscape but they kept claiming the rides are one of the most advanced out there (I'm reserving on standing by that or not when I ride it) but in reality, it's one big screen for Flight of Passage. The boat ride you were talking about does have screens but does have beautiful props too.

    • @timothycal587
      @timothycal587 7 лет назад

      a dead account and what you said about the reason why Disney uses screens, also applies to Universal (even d they overuse it).
      Yes it's impossible to go light speed with practical effects but it's also impossible to fly around Hogwarts filling Harry and Ron around?
      Or to be in a WWE match with Kong and few dinos.
      I love the use of screens but I also love waving the fact that screens aren't lazy and/or cheap to the pixie dusters while showing that there's a fine line between reality and a dream. The price tag could've played a role in using screens or not, you're obviously right on that, but it's the tech available today with obvious limitations

      The Antigravities Clan W101 There will be a Millennium Falcon simulator and a ride-through Battle Against the First Order (similar, at least superficially, to the Transformers and Spider-Man rides).

    • @vm2media
      @vm2media 7 лет назад

      Rebekah Young It was my understanding that the Launch Bays at both DL and DHS are temporary placeholders -- they'll pretty much be obsolete once STAR WARS LAND opens, since the area will be full of character meet-and-greets and gift shops.

So I said I know what Star Wars feels like. A bunch of turned on fans. Like blowing wind type fans, but also like actual Star Wars fans. Whatever if the joke didn't work. I'm a Star Wars fan too obviously because I'm watching a video about Star Wars land.

    No, No, I mean, use the real estate from Autopia to build cool stuff for future indoor rides. I don't mean Star Wars, just something different. Maybe in the future something SIMILAR as Star Wars or Guardians of the Galaxy or Marvel land or who knows what, shall be built on Autopia
    Why do I hate it?????????????? Because it's like riding in LA traffic.
