A temple in southern India has introduced a lifelike robotic elephant to be used at rituals to prevent cruel treatment of live animals. The mechanical elephant was donated by the animal rights group Peta to the Pournami Kavu Temple in Thiruvananthapuram in the southwestern state of Kerala on June 22, 2024. The mechanical elephant, named Baladhasan, can move its ears and tail. It stands 3 metres (10ft) tall and weighs about 800kg (1,700lbs).

Looks like they only use these robot elephants not because elephants suffer but because people are killed...SMH!! Anyway, it's a win-win for all.

I don't think you know what you're talking about. It's true elephant attacks happen in India very often but these cultural practices often use chained & tamed elephants that are exploited. This is their way of avoiding that exploitation.

Peta is putting efforts where there isnt a requirement as Elephants in Kerala are treated as Sacred, but Peta goes on a Holiday during Bakri Eid i wonder why so openly doing double standards.

A poor country like India, where the majority of its population lives in extreme poverty, should prioritize addressing poverty instead of allocating funds to build unnecessary temples, statues, and doing unnecessary space missions. India ranks 111th out of 125 countries in the World Hunger Index. Modi should concentrate on feeding the 1.4 billion hungry Indians to improve the hunger index ranking
most of the temples and statues nowadays are built through donations. There is no extreme poverty in india, u can check through google so don't spread misinformation
